Its kind of scary, to think that in some ways what you teach can effect the lives of others on an eternal scale. I was having a discussion with someone about repentance and they told me that I always revert to OSAS, and then they did a little play (jokingly) of them standing before God while I was already saved watching, them saying, "But Lord, I believe in Ben's OSAS!" They, of course, being someone that I love.

This somewhat pierced my heart. It is important that we know what we are teaching is absolutely correct, especially on such matters of salvation. Even on other things that can effect rewards at the judgement seat. I guess, for whatever reason, this acting out of the judgement kind of really put things into perspective in terms of the responsibility that teachers have.

How much of what we believe to be true are we so adamant to share? I suppose we must rely upon the Holy Spirit to lead us into all truth, another area of faith. Yes, and He is faithful. I just am thinking that we must do our due diligence.

That is why teachers are held to a more stringent standard :)

I think that is also why Paul prayed that GOD might give them (those whom Paul cared for in the church) the spirit of wisdom and knowledge to better understand this great salvation

We remind people to worship God alone and be bereans.

They must search scriptures themselves and pray.

Being a child of God is more than a set of right doctrines, it's a personal relationship with God.

We can walk with others but they should look always to God for ultimate truth.

I agree Ben, we should always watch our words. And make sure we're speaking God's truth.

For sometimes it's better to say nothing, than give an opinion as if it's God's word when it might not be.

Sometimes we simply parrot Christian traditions that may or might not be what God's word truly says.

This is why we are to come as little children, humble and teachable, not in the sight of man but in the heart... what this means to me is this: The willingness to challenge all things taught by others from biblical text... myself included, not for the sake of finding fault, but for the sake of either confirming or denying whatever teaching is being examined.
This is not by any means a personal attack or a challenge to the teachers integrity or walk with the Almighty, but rather an attempt to ensure what we choose to accept as truth is indeed truth, these things are way too important to not give it its due diligence, and as for me frankly these things taught in the biblical text are too great for me in and of myself, I must be guided and taught by the Holy Spirit, and that according to the Fathers wisdom of what I can assimilate and what I can share with others.
Not only are we dealing with things of eternity here, we are also to avail ourselves to the Holy One as vessels meet for the masters use, and therefore cannot be 'defiled' by doctrine that is in error. you see we have the power to choose what we believe.... however what we have chosen to believe has power over us.
the scriptures are an awesome blessing to believers everywhere, but like almost any good thing they can be used for unintended purposes, (evil purposes in fact) so we as children of the King each have a level of accountability to search for ourselves whether these things be true.

I have placed a lot of thought on the responsibility of a teacher as well Ben. Lots of people believe themselves to be teachers but the thing is as teachers the more so than anyone will be held responsible for the words they speak because as Teachers their words will impact the hearts of others more so than the average person. I have also thought the same of preachers and pastors, they more than anyone have to have the right heart with god and they more than anyone are to be held accountable for the words they preach and the things they teach.

The role of a teacher is a very serious matter, just because you have knowledge and insight into things doesn't mean you are fit to be a teacher, and there are some on here who are self proclaimed pastors and I wonder how often they consider this?

Anyone who teaches something is from God and it is NOT from God, shall not escape His wrath when it comes upon the Earth.

Most True. This is called "trying the Spirits" Any time you hear a thing, that thing should be compared to the Word of God. Any doctrine that is contrary to even one single verse in Scriptures that doctrine is false. Every verse in Scripture is TRUE and can't be broken. Therefore if you believe something that contradicts even one verse in Scriptures what you believe is false.

How many people believe something in this generation that is contrary to a verse in the Word of God? It is not hard to understand why these are the last days, when people believe so many doctrines that are contrary to Scriptures. For example people from this generation believes OSAS is TRUE, even though there are MANY verses which contradicts that belief. You can be blotted out of the Book of life, You can fall away from the Faith, You can deny Jesus Christ, You can hate your brother, you can NOT forgive someone, is to but name a few verses which contradicts OSAS doctrine. If your Saved and deny Christ are you still Saved? If your Saved and hate a brother are you still Saved? If your Saved and you do not forgive your brother, which means the Father does not forgive you, are you still Saved because you claim that you are?
If what you believe contradicts even one verse in Scriptures, than what you believe is WRONG.

How many people believe a certain thing, but there is that one verse that seems to say that belief is not TRUE? That narrow and difficult path only a very few will find.

I agree. I pray everyday to God for Him to teach me His truths and to protect me from error. I also study diligently, basing my studies on the Bible in the languages in which it was written taking advantage of the very best lexicons and grammars, and consulting recent commentaries on the text in the original languages. I also study the history of the development of Christian theology in order to learn which doctrines have been taught throughout the history of the Church, and which doctrines were concocted in more recent times. Indeed, the source of much of what is taught in our churches today can be traced back to a specific period in the history of the Church, and sometimes to a specific person. If it was not good enough for Paul and Silas and the Ante-Nicene Church Fathers, it is not good enough for me.

I'm not really sure how OSAS came into this discussion, however for me, the Savior said Himself... "he that endures unto the end, the same SHALL be saved" its not the end just yet, so theres this matter of enduring to it. his strength and power is the only way, but choose we must each day, each choice....
