This one is not my kind of yoke...

Galatians 3:12-13 (KJV)
12 And the law is not of faith: but, The man that doeth them shall live in them.
13 Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree:

I took Christ's yoke, which ones did you take?
Crossnote, being Yoked in Christ, never once directed me away from any of His word. Nor did any of the NT writers instruct anything against studying it.

2 Timothy 2:15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

When did the word of truth begin?

Isaiah 40:21 Have ye not known? have ye not heard? hath it not been told you from the beginning? have ye not understood from the foundations of the earth?

So. Because we have headed the law. And have come via the law to Christ. And now have graduated to better things which are more revelent to us. ANd this means we ignore scripture?

I am sorry to be blunt, but how many more times will you people stop making this false accusation against us?

Torah is the law given to Moses at mt sinai. Most draw a distinction between torah and the ten commandments.
Actually it's the Pentateuch -- the first five books in the Bible. The Law's included, but that's not all that's in there.

What is Christ's yoke to you, since you sound like (not saying this is what you are, just what you sound like to me) that yoke means doing nothing?

Yokes direct the beast of burden and harness them to something to carry or haul. So what are you being governed by and hauling?

I thought post #72 was self explanatory...

Matthew 11:28-30 (KJV)
28 Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.
30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.

5 Messiancs will give you 8 answers :)
In Judaism, The Torah is the first five books of the Bible. Most Christians have the same understanding.

In the last 15-20 years, some Gentiles representing themselves as Messianic have redefined Torah to include all or most of the OT and some rabbinic commentary.

eg, I think I'd miss you if you actually didn't have something to say when this topic comes up.

I've never thought of myself as being so advanced that I no longer need to prayerfully seek the Kingdom with Christ through His word.

Matthew 6:33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.

Goodness, the minute doubt is brought into one part of the word, a door is open to doubt other parts. I won't even go there. Once a person gets to that point, the only thing to trust is his or her own understanding, or the understanding of others.

Why would anyone want to do that when the promise remains:

John 16:13 Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.

When you say "you people," do you mean the "terrible" ones who encourage studying the word and seeking out the truth in Him? (Or are you going to pull out the "legalist" card.) :p

1 Corinthians 8:2 And if any man think that he knoweth any thing, he knoweth nothing yet as he ought to know.

And you think I do not do this also? That's a mighty big assumption there. Where else can one go to understand the kingdom?

Matthew 6:33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.

So more false accusations? You think I doubt any part of the word I doubt non of the word. it is inspired by God. and fully able to make me a complete man of God thoroughly furnished to do all God wants me to do. I am severely offended you think I think otherwise.

Why would anyone want to do that when the promise remains:

So now you bring it back on me? You claim a lie about what I believe, and your going back on me?

That's like trying to blame me for your lie about me.

Shame on you!

The HS is guiding me in all truth every day, Using the word of God.

Goodness...same ol' same ol', I responded to what you said eg...that you've moved beyond part of the word and graduated, no claim...but nice try.

Why the constant fight when the word is brought up? It makes no sense....

But just to be clear:

So. Because we have headed the law. And have come via the law to Christ. And now have graduated to better things which are more revelent to us. ANd this means we ignore scripture?

I prefer calling the first five books the Pentateuch, for the (obvious-to-me) reason that penta is a solid reminder of it being five books. Torah, I have been told, means instruction, or law :)

I can hardly believe this: when I looked up Old Testament, hoping to see what
the whole of the law and prophets is called in Hebrew, this came up in a sidebar...

The Old Testament is the first section of the Christian Bible, based primarily upon
the Hebrew Bible, a collection of fictional religious writings by ancient Israelites.

It is almost getting to the point of not wanting to even try to be nice to you. Your so sure your right, and everyone else is wrong. There is no discussing anything with you. Sadly I feel you have been tainted by those who came before you.
Graduated from the word? well

1. Galatians says this is true, so I guess if you want to get technical. Then lets stick with what the word says.
2. I would not call it graduated. I would say some parts of the word have meaning, And are directed at certain things. So since those things are not related to our lives right now. That's a bad thing??

Why the constant fight when the word is brought up? It makes no sense....
The constant fight is people who refuse to acknowledge they are lying about what others believe, and the constant strawman arguments. Like "same ol same ol" or "You reject part of the word"

But just to be clear:

You are pretty good at this...

Or silly little non Christian things like this..

This really helps to support your lies about me (rolls eyes)

I again repeat my first comment in this post.

So I guess lying about others is christian like. And your husband agrees.

That's sad..

If I did not grow up in a religious church that acted that way around people who did not agree with them, I would not believe it would be true. But sadly I have seen it all (I even acted that way for years myself)

So I will just put it up to satanic warfare..

Neither do you.

You lie about my belief, And those who believe like me, Even though you have been shown you are wrong, and it means nothing to you.

You keep on doing it, And when your confronted. You do thinks like you just did.

Your the one who states I ignore half of the bible. (Of course I know that lie did not start with you, your just going off what some other people stated about us)

You have been shown over and over that's Is not true, and the more people say it to you. the more sarcastic you get..
