I prefer calling the first five books the Pentateuch, for the (obvious-to-me) reason that penta is a solid reminder of it being five books. Torah, I have been told, means instruction, or law

yes, torah means instruction or law. From what I heard. the whole of the bible was called the torah in Jesus time, Others also called it the Law (torah) and prophets..
