You mean as a sacrifice for their sins instead of living a life of charity and forgiveness? I'm trying...

The workers of iniquity are those who try to climb up some other way to get into Heaven.

Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that entereth not by the door into the sheepfold, but climbeth up some other way, the same is a thief and a robber.

I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture.

Many people try to get into heaven by various methods but the only way to get into heaven is through Jesus. Even Christians can try to get into heaven some other way, by trying to climb over the fence or through a window instead of through the door. For example, people who think they have to be obedient to the laws and rules and have to earn their Salvation through good works are actually trying to climb up some other way. They don't fully depend on Jesus for their Salvation. They also depend on their own good works and righteous acts to save them. This is the main kind of workers of iniquity that Jesus was talking about in Mathew 7. As it says:

[SUP]2[/SUP]Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?

They thought they had to do all these good works to earn their Salvation, but, in fact, they were actually trying to get into heaven by doing good works, which means they were climbing up some other way cause they weren't depending solely on Jesus for their Salvation.

Well the OP wont be back except for under another screen name most likely,

Does anyone know where all the places are where they adress him as Lord Lord (in that double like manner)?

He adresses certain much the same,
such as Martha Martha, Simon Simon, and Saul Saul (in that same way as well)

"Didn't WE do great things ..."

it is Christ who has done great things. We are unworthy servants we have only done our duty. Luke

Matthew 7:21 - 7:24

21 Not every one that saith unto me,

Lord, Lord,

shall enter into the kingdom of heaven;
but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.

22 Many will say to me in that day,

Lord, Lord,

have we not prophesied in thy name?
and in thy name have cast out devils?
and in thy name done many wonderful works?

23 And then will I profess unto them,
I never knew you:

depart from me,

ye that work iniquity.

Who are the workers of iniquity?

IMO They are those who desire by their own works to have a part in the salvation process; as opposed to those who fully depend on Jesus to have done and to do it ALL.

Re: The Worker of Iniquity[/h] Somehow I think this fits with this thread. I guess because I believe it says at least part of what we need to do, but I'm not sure. It certainly can't hurt to consider it.:

Matt.25: 34-46
[SUP]34[/SUP] Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world:
[SUP]35[/SUP] For I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in:
[SUP]36[/SUP] Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me.
[SUP]37[/SUP] Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, and fed thee? or thirsty, and gave thee drink?
[SUP]38[/SUP] When saw we thee a stranger, and took thee in? or naked, and clothed thee?
[SUP]39[/SUP] Or when saw we thee sick, or in prison, and came unto thee?
[SUP]40[/SUP] And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.
[SUP]41[/SUP] Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels:
[SUP]42[/SUP] For I was an hungred, and ye gave me no meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me no drink:
[SUP]43[/SUP] I was a stranger, and ye took me not in: naked, and ye clothed me not: sick, and in prison, and ye visited me not.
[SUP]44[/SUP] Then shall they also answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, or athirst, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did not minister unto thee?
[SUP]45[/SUP] Then shall he answer them, saying, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye did it not to one of the least of these, ye did it not to me.
[SUP]46[/SUP] And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal.

Those of us who are saved will indeed do these things; NOT TO BE SAVED: but, because we are saved. The Holy Spirit within us will provoke and enable us to do these things.

Matthew 7:21 - 7:24

21 Not every one that saith unto me,

Lord, Lord,

shall enter into the kingdom of heaven;
but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.

None of these works which they accomplished required any love on their part (either towards God or man), no mention of turning from sin or walking by the Spirit. No conformity to Christ or cleaning of the cup necessary. Much like the Pharisees and Sadducees which the Lord was frequently condemning and for the same reason. Outwardly they appeared righteous yet inwardly were ravening wolves.

Well love is the whole point. Love for God and man which shows itself through our thoughts, attitudes, words and actions.
Taking every thought captive.
We know the way to abide with Christ is by obeying Him, if Christ abides in anyone then Christ would know that person. So my analysis is that these people were not abiding in Christ through a life of sin, flesh and disobedience.

1 Corinthians 13
13 If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal. 2 And if I have prophetic powers, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have all faith, so as to remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. 3 If I give away all I have, and if I deliver up my body to be burned,[a] but have not love, I gain nothing.

4 Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant 5 or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; 6 it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. 7 Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.

8 Love never ends. As for prophecies, they will pass away; as for tongues, they will cease; as for knowledge, it will pass away.

that OP, man, you got to catch him right away if you want to talk to him. he doesn't stick around long each iteration.
gotta love the tenacity though; a lot of people would give up after one or two bans.

this admonition comes right after He explains to us that good fruit is found only on good trees --

it occurs to me that tree-wise, mankind is a thorny brier, with poison berries.
the Lord is a spreading tree with great shade and much good fruit, home to all kinds of critters.

He is the vine - we are not the vine. "iniquity" is lawlessness, but i don't think that torah-observation is the law He refers to here - but a natural and universal law, self evident - that no branch separated from it's trunk lives. a cut-down tree may sprout green leaves for a short time, using up the nutrients that were in it when it fell, but when that runs dry, it has nothing to draw from.

where did He ever cast away those that hoped in His mercy and unfailing love?
:)
He said such are His delight

is breaking the law, but repenting of it and humbly looking for redemption "iniquity" ?
even if you find you are still imperfect, even knowing what you should do but unable to always do it?
how could you acknowledge "sin" without also acknowledging "law" ?

"workers of iniquity" are contrasted to those that "doeth the will of My Father".

Workers of iniquity = those that do not do the will of the Father.

and the will of the Father is that we believe in the Son, and look to Him ((yes and only Him - not ourselves)) for our redemption. (re:
John 6:40, for example)

"no problem can be solved at the same level of awareness that created it" - Einstein

we got a problem, all self-pervasive. we need an external help to solve it - our help is the Lord.
can ye help yourself? then you don't need a savior :)
but i do .. and i have such a One!!

]Is this what Paul was getting at to the Galations? Yes Indeed!
Right :) so our focus should be on the intimate relationship with God rather than worrying about who's a worker of iniquity?

now being "redeemed" is taken out of the marketplace.

it doesn't mean sticking around with the "covet-me" advertisements.

but redemption isn't walking out of the pawn shop all by your lonesome - that's shrinkage, theft.

the price is paid, and there's an ownership involved :)

things that are owned are put to the purpose of their Owner, amen?
free-range sheep don't march into the abattoir. they're freed to scurry away.

Paul speaks of our departing from inquity or yeilding our members to iniquity unto iniquity

Romans 6:19 I speak after the manner of men because of the infirmity of your flesh:
for as ye have yielded your members servants to uncleanness
and to iniquity unto iniquity;
even so now yield your members servants to righteousness unto holiness.

Not many others will but he does

Although Paul doesnt shun to declare to us all the counsel of God, some folks will leave out stuff (in other words, shunning to declare certain parts) which anyone can observe over a period of time.

The will of the Father is also here

1 Thes 4:2 For ye know what commandments we gave you by the Lord Jesus.

1 Thes 4:3
For this is the will of God, even your sanctification, thatye should abstain from fornication:

1 Thes 4:4
That every one of you should know how to possess his vessel in sanctification and honour;

1 Thes 4:5
Not in the lust of concupiscence, even as the Gentiles which know not God:

1 Thes 4:6 That no
man go beyond and defraud his brother in any matter: because that the Lord is the avenger of all such, as we also have forewarned you and testified.

1Thes 4:7
For God hath not called us unto uncleanness, but unto holiness.

Is this what Paul was getting at to the Galations?
Gal 4:9

It is my understanding that the Galatians were falling back into pagan religious observances. (modern ex. Christmas, Easter Halloween, Lent etc)

Galatians 4
8 Formerly, when you did not know God, you were enslaved to those that by nature are not gods. 9 But now that you have come to know God, or rather to be known by God, how can you turn back again to the weak and worthless elementary principles of the world, whose slaves you want to be once more? 10 You observe days and months and seasons and years! 11 I am afraid I may have labored over you in vain.

The same wording is used in Colossians 2:

Colossians 2
6 Therefore, as you received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in him, 7 rooted and built up in him and established in the faith, just as you were taught, abounding in thanksgiving.
8 See to it that no one takes you captive by philosophy and empty deceit, according to human tradition, according to the elemental spirits[a] of the world, and not according to Christ.

Where he again is writing to those who were being influenced by pagan traditions and philosophies which can be seen in the following passage. He writes to those in Colossae telling them not to let others (who had pagan ideologies and practiced asceticism) judge them for observing the true things of our Lord and for enjoying/eating things which God had created for us to enjoy/eat.

Colossians 2
16 Therefore let no one pass judgment on you in questions of food and drink, or with regard to a festival or a new moon or a Sabbath. 17 These are a shadow of the things to come, but the substance belongs to Christ. 18 Let no one disqualify you, insisting on asceticism and worship of angels, going on in detail about visions,[d] puffed up without reason by his sensuous mind, 19 and not holding fast to the Head, from whom the whole body, nourished and knit together through its joints and ligaments, grows with a growth that is from God.

20 If with Christ you died to the elemental spirits of the world, why, as if you were still alive in the world, do you submit to regulations— 21 “Do not handle, Do not taste, Do not touch” 22 (referring to things that all perish as they are used)—according to human precepts and teachings? 23 These have indeed an appearance of wisdom in promoting self-made religion and asceticism and severity to the body, but they are of no value in stopping the indulgence of the flesh.

The Worker of Iniquity.... What does the Master tell them? before they are put in Gehenna Fire? I never 'knew' you... so the Worker of Iniquity is somebody who 'claims Christ, did wonderful things in His Name, YET never 'knew' Him.. thats purdy strong there.. to Know Him is Eternal Life.. to Know the One Who gave Himself on the Bloody Tree.. once again.. it comes back to the Tree. and where He Gave Himself.. do you know Him, the One who died for you.. not a religious knowledge passed down on Traditions, not from a Theological degree and its merits, not because grandma and grandpa were such 'great christians'.. do you Really Know the One who Gave Himself on that Tree FOR YOU!..... I know Him today.. Oh Yes.. He knew me before I was in my mother's womb, He ordained His Salvation for me way back before time and dirt were created.. He knew that He would save me in 1994.. He was there when I didnt 'know' Him.. He was there to stop the destroyer from taking my life PRIOR to me Knowing Him, He was there when I was left out, deemed unfit in the world eyes and standards, He was there when I had alot of questions about death and feared death... He was there Period.. He has always known who I was.. and Today I 'know' Him.. there are Days I long to be out of here and to be with Him and the others who have already gone to be with Him. so the question is .. DO YOU KNOW HIM'. IN Truth... ? the Workers of iniquity DO NOT KNOW HIM.. and thus their eternal State . Gehenna fire..
