Matthew 7:21 - 7:24

21 Not every one that saith unto me,

Lord, Lord,

shall enter into the kingdom of heaven;
but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.

22 Many will say to me in that day,

Lord, Lord,

have we not prophesied in thy name?
and in thy name have cast out devils?
and in thy name done many wonderful works?

23 And then will I profess unto them,
I never knew you:

depart from me,

ye that work iniquity.

Who are the workers of iniquity?

Those the LORD would lead forth others who turn to their crooked ways with

Psalm 125:5 As for such as turn aside unto their crooked ways,
the LORD shall lead them forth with the workers of iniquity:
but peace shall be upon Israel.

Notice how the "Lord, Lord" ones are those doing things in Christ's name. I always think of the phony species of televangelists or preachers/priests, when considering these verses. Whatever the case, these aren't your garden variety sinner, rather somewhat worse: they are the self-righteous. The harshest words the Lord Jesus ever had were for the Scribes and Pharisees, the most religious on the block. Something for some of you here to strongly consider.

Those self righteous and works= righteous crowd who trust in their own works and flesh to save them are workers of iniquity.

Those who trust Jesus Christ and His atoning blood, and intersession to save them to the uttermost are imputed righteousness through faith. For the just will live by faith.

Somehow I think this fits with this thread. I guess because I believe it says at least part of what we need to do, but I'm not sure. It certainly can't hurt to consider it.:

Matt.25: 34-46
[SUP]34[/SUP] Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world:
[SUP]35[/SUP] For I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in:
[SUP]36[/SUP] Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me.
[SUP]37[/SUP] Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, and fed thee? or thirsty, and gave thee drink?
[SUP]38[/SUP] When saw we thee a stranger, and took thee in? or naked, and clothed thee?
[SUP]39[/SUP] Or when saw we thee sick, or in prison, and came unto thee?
[SUP]40[/SUP] And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.
[SUP]41[/SUP] Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels:
[SUP]42[/SUP] For I was an hungred, and ye gave me no meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me no drink:
[SUP]43[/SUP] I was a stranger, and ye took me not in: naked, and ye clothed me not: sick, and in prison, and ye visited me not.
[SUP]44[/SUP] Then shall they also answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, or athirst, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did not minister unto thee?
[SUP]45[/SUP] Then shall he answer them, saying, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye did it not to one of the least of these, ye did it not to me.
[SUP]46[/SUP] And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal.

Lord Lord seems to imply unstable in all their ways, or as one that is double minded

Same is shown in all the Lord Lord's

Luke 6:46 And why call ye me, Lord, Lord,
and do not the things which I say?

No friend, you bring no offense to me and you have not started a conflict. It is good to reason and discuss good things. Peace be with you always in Christ Jesus. :)

Heres a few that speak in accord with one another

Acts 3:26 Unto you first God, having raised up his Son (((Jesus))), sent him to (((bless you))), in turning (((away))) every one of you from (((his iniquities)))

Titus 2:14 (((
Who))) gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from (((all iniquity))) and purify (((unto himself))) a peculiar people, zealous of good works.

However,

Mat 7: 22 Many will say to me (((in that day))), Lord, Lord, have (((we not))) prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?

Mat 7: 23 (((And then))) will I profess unto (((them))), I never knew you: depart (((from me))) ye that (((work iniquity))).

So when Paul says this

2 Ti 2:19 Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, (((having))) this seal, The Lord knoweth (((them))) that are his. And, Let every one that nameth the name of Christ (((depart from))) iniquity

Paul seems very aware of this

Mat 7: 23 (((And then))) will I profess unto them, I never knew (((you))): depart (((from me))) ye that (((work))) iniquity.

Who are the workers of iniquity?

"For many walk, of whom I have told you often, and now tell you even weeping, that they are the enemies of the cross of Christ: Whose end is destruction, whose God is their belly, and whose glory is in their shame, who mind earthly things"
(Philippians 3:18-19 kjv). I suspect that those who "use God for their belly" is a reference to making money in his name. Their objective is to sell His Word to benefit or feed themselves. We've all seen the televised evanglist who is hitting the congregation up for money every other minute. They perform nothing in His name, but to their own glory. jmo

"workers of iniquity" are contrasted to those that "doeth the will of My Father".

Workers of iniquity = those that do not do the will of the Father.

That is true ('ll post this so others can see what you are talking about)

Mat 7:21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven;
but he that doeth the will of my Father
which is in heaven.

Mat 7: 22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name?
and in thy name have cast out devils?
and in thy name done many wonderful works?

Mat 7: 23 And then will I profess unto them,
I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity. (See 2 Ti 2:15 also)

Mat 7:24 Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them,
I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock:

Mat 7: 25 And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house;
and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock.

Mat 7::26 And every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not,
shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand:

Mat 7:27 And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house;
and it fell: and great was the fall of it.

Which again, the context being them which do acknowledge him as Lord Lord (but do not do the will of the Father).

Mat 7:21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven;
but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.

The family of God even as is shown in Matthew

Behold my mother and my brethren!

Mat 12:50 For whosoever shall do the will of my Father which is in heaven,
the same is my brother, and sister, and mother.

Heb 2:11 For both he that sanctifieth and they who are sanctified are all of one:
for which cause he is not ashamed to call them brethren,

The least of these are they which belong to him even as they which have not the Spirit of Christ are none of his (Rom 8:9)

Even here as well

Mat 25:40
And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you,
Inasmuch as ye have done
it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.

That reference next to Mat 7:3 is incorrect its supposed to be 2 Tim 2:19 (not 2 Ti 2:15)

Just changing it here and adding it in between (speaking of the same things)

Mat 7:21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.

Mat 7: 22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name?

Who are the workers of iniquity?
The workers of iniquity are those who try to climb up some other way to get into Heaven.

Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that entereth not by the door into the sheepfold, but climbeth up some other way, the same is a thief and a robber.

I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture.

Many people try to get into heaven by various methods but the only way to get into heaven is through Jesus. Even Christians can try to get into heaven some other way, by trying to climb over the fence or through a window instead of through the door. For example, people who think they have to be obedient to the laws and rules and have to earn their Salvation through good works are actually trying to climb up some other way. They don't fully depend on Jesus for their Salvation. They also depend on their own good works and righteous acts to save them. This is the main kind of workers of iniquity that Jesus was talking about in Mathew 7. As it says:

[SUP]2[/SUP] Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?

They thought they had to do all these good works to earn their Salvation, but, in fact, they were actually trying to get into heaven by doing good works, which means they were climbing up some other way cause they weren't depending solely on Jesus for their Salvation.

Is this what Paul was getting at to the Galations?
Gal 4:9
But now that you have come to know God, or rather to be known by God, how can you turn back again to the weak and worthless elementary principles of the world, whose slaves you want to be once more?

That word known - gnóstos - to know experientially") – experientially known, i.e. through first-hand, personal experience

Which, by quick searching, is similar to the same word Jesus used about never knowing a person which knowing through direct relationship.
So in other words, people busy doing, doing, doing and not having an intimate relationship with God?

I think it is interesting the Lord says " I never knew You" as apposed to you never knew Me.
The same is shown between these two verses, of

Mat 7: 23 And then will I profess unto them,
I never knew you:
depart from me, ye that work iniquity. (See
2 Tim 2:19 also)

2 Ti 2:19 Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal,
The Lord knoweth them that are his.
And, Let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity.

The one says let everyone that name the name of Christ depart (from iniquity)
the other says depart (from me) ye that work it.Or rather work iniquity. They are two contrasts in the same sort of reproof in Jesus and in Pauls words
