Awakened, along with what Dan said in one of the earlier posts, you also asked why we are called to love one another, yet Christ claims to come to divide. To me, that is another form of rest. All I have to do is love people, and God will do His thing in His time to either change people or to bring HIS justice in the end. I don't HAVE to deal with the drama. God will work it all out for good to those who follow him (Romans 8:28)...in some way I will have justice, whether that be in the form of a new friend whose heart was changed by God to comfort me in my need, or in the form of some sort of growth, both(?), or some sort of rare view of beauty, some sort of bonus whatever in my tax refund, some seemingly random error by the bank in my favor ........you get the idea.

Thank you for these questions, they reminded me how beautifully interconnected the entire Bible is when put together in whole.

Help me understand how the bible tells us, if we come to him, he will give us rest and abundant life. Yet we know when we try to live according to God's will, we are persecuted by people,* tested by God, and tempted by Satan.

Another thing I have trouble understanding is, we are told to love one another but then Yahusha says, I came to bring division.

Matthew 11:28* (KJV)
*Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest

John 10:10 (KJV)
*The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly

2 Timothy 3:12 (KJV)
*Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution.

John 13:34 - A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another

1 John 4:20 - If a man say, I love God, and hateth his brother, he is a liar: for he that loveth not his brother whom he hath seen, how can he love God whom he hath not seen?

Matthew 10:37 (KJV)
He that loveth father or mother more than me is not worthy of me: and he that loveth son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me

Luke 12:51-53 (KJV)
51 Suppose ye that I am come to give peace on earth? I tell you, Nay; but rather division:
52 For from henceforth there shall be five in one house divided, three against two, and two against three.
53 The father shall be divided against the son, and the son against the father; the mother against the daughter, and the daughter against the mother; the mother in law against her daughter in law, and the daughter in law against her mother in law.
Isa 28:10 For precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little:
Isa 28:11 For with stammering lips and another tongue will he speak to this people.
Isa 28:12 To whom he said, This is the rest wherewith ye may cause the weary to rest; and this is the refreshing: yet they would not hear.

When we receive the Spirit that is our rest, which Jesus gives us joy that no person takes away, and we have peace that passes all understanding, and God gives us power, love, and a sound mind, and God said cast your cares, upon Me,for I care for you,so in our spirit, our inner man,we have rest, peace, and joy,and love, and a sound mind,so we have peace of mind, and it is not disturbed.

In our inner man it is peaceful, and quiet,a sound mind, functioning properly, which no person can touch,or harm.

But God does not promise that our outer man will not have trouble, for Jesus said do not fear them which can kill the body, but can do no more, and cannot kill the soul, and all that will live godly will suffer persecution.

Jesus does not want division, but harmony between people, but because of Him coming to earth,He knows that there will be division for all will not accept Him,but Jesus says,so be it,for He had to come to save all that wants to be saved, and there will be division because not all will accept Him.

Jesus would not say,I will not come because it will cause people to be be at odds with each other, over those that accept Me,and those that would not,but He had to come to save people, and if there is division because of it,so be it,for if had not come nobody would be saved at all,so the division is not as bad as Him not coming at all.

If there is division,so be it,but Jesus had to come, and in the household there may 3 people that accept Jesus, and 2 people that do not, causing them to be at odds with each other in the household, which could cause disruption, and bickering about it,and you are crazy for believing, and you are crazy for not believing, but so be it,for Jesus had to come.

We have to love Jesus more than any person,or we cannot be His disciple, but we still have to love people, but we have to put Jesus first, which means that we abide by what Jesus taught, and the lifestyle that He wants us to live, and what to believe, and we cannot allow any person to influence us to go contrary to that because we care about that person, for we put Jesus first.

Adam put Eve first concerning eating of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, but he should of put God first, and not listened to Eve,which we cannot take heed to any person that would want us to do something that Jesus would not approve of.

Here are a couple more questions. ☺
When Yahusha, (Jesus), said there be some standing here, which shall not taste of death, till they see the Son of man coming in his kingdom, does this mean, the people he raised are still here?
While he was speaking to those at that time, as Winston Churchill is quoted as saying, the further you look back in history the farther you can see the future, but seeing that it was over a 120 years ago then no sense for me to put much substance in the belief that they are, but no sense striving over it someone else believes differently.
Hebrews 9:27 (KJV) And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment
Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death? Romans 6:3
Jesus raised three people from the dead during his earthly ministries: Lazarus, the daughter of Jairus and the son of the widow at Nain.
Could this be considered the first resurrection?
Here is one account from the OT;
32 And when Elisha was come into the house, behold, the child was dead, and laid upon his bed.
33 He went in therefore, and shut the door upon them twain, and prayed unto the LORD.
34 And he went up, and lay upon the child, and put his mouth upon his mouth, and his eyes upon his eyes, and his hands upon his hands: and he stretched himself upon the child; and the flesh of the child waxed warm.
35 Then he returned, and walked in the house to and fro; and went up, and stretched himself upon him: and the child sneezed seven times, and the child opened his eyes.
2 Kings 4:32-35
Matthew 27:52-53 (KJV)
52 And the graves were opened; and many bodies of the saints which slept arose,
53 And came out of the graves after his resurrection, and went into the holy city, and appeared unto many
Eccl 1:18
Revelation 20:6 (KJV)
6 Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection: on such the second death hath no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with him a thousand years.
Knowing that Christ being raised from the dead dieth no more; death hath no more dominion over him Rom 6:9:confused:
John 8:51  +

The answer is in the next 2 verses; "There be some standing here, which shall not taste of death, till they see the Son of man coming in his kingdom. And after six days Jesus taketh Peter, James, and John his brother, and bringeth them up into an high mountain apart, And was transfigured before them: and his face did shine as the sun, and his raiment was white as the light" So no, it wasn't referring to those that Jesus raised from the dead, they have all since died. It was the 3 disciples who witness his transfiguration, they were the "some standing here" who saw him come into his heavenly glory.

from what i gather we are to be separate from the world, and a peculiar people, ......our peace and joy and rest is found in the Holy Ghost/ Spirit....not what we would consider to be those things per what the world says.........and why must we suffer , because Christ suffered and evil simply hates good, but also because we are like gold that needs to be refined and purified and strengthened by struggles. Also without understanding of struggles how could we relate to those in the world suffering such things with no known knowledge of the gospel? ....how could our faith be tested and tried if we had no challenges? ....also God gains glory from us when he takes the impossible and makes it possible.
