Paul, you, I and all have an Example to follow, and He is Jesus Christ. Anyone who knows the severity of punishment in changing the Word of Yahweh would realize without having to study the issue that Jesus would never have used any language in teaching His Good News other than the language of the Temple. It does not take a lot to understand this, but it is simple to argue it. Had Jesus Christ used Greek or Latin, He would have been called on it from the start by the Pharisees, the Scribes and the Chief Priest. Paul followed the Example of Jesus, and I try my best to do the same. God bless you.

I think Paul would have known those things in Hebrew grammar, too... he could have written Yahweh, but he never did... why not follow Paul's example? That's what I'm wondering...

Surely you listen to what Paul has to say, though... I mean, I assume you do... And I think we both agree that Paul wrote under the leading of the spirit...

My review of study has had me reading Acts and Romans these past two weeks, so I think it safe to say I do listen to Paul. It is what Paul writes and teaches the tells me his Example to follow is only Jesus Christ, so we are safe in keep close to the Gospel of Jesus, always. His teachings are to all for all questions.

So, OK, sounds like we both agree that Paul was lead by the spirit to write what he did... What did Paul do when he came across the name Yahweh?

As an aside, if Luke is accurate in chapter 4, Jesus is reading from the lxx in the synagogue... What are your thoughts on that?

No brainer. Paul was a Pharisee. A pharisee would study the Tanakh(all the books we call the Old Testament), only in Hebrew and Ezra and about half of Daniel in Aramaic.

When he taught in the synagogues it is certain he only used the Hebrew language and writings to teach from, thus the only name for Lord would have always been יהוה. It would have been a blasphemy to teach the Tanakh in any other language. I type it in Hebrew as an illustration of what he would be seeing to read in place of where in English we always see the word, Lord. I pronounce it Yahweh. Any variation is just an accent or mistransliteration.

No matter, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit are One. They are still a mystery to me, but I believe everything they tell me, by the Word, and by the Holy Spirit
.

As concerning the Epistles, they could have been written in Greek and/or Hebrew, but Paul, a scholar, probably was perfectly capable of writing in Greek and Latin. It would not surprise me if he had written in Hebrew also.

Well, two ideas here that may have gotten mixed together... First idea, is Jesus teaching in the synagogue in Luke 4... Luke quotes him as reading out of the Greek lxx... Second thought, when Paul wrote, say, Romans, he wrote it in Greek... Most people agree with that, do you? Romans contains at least one passage, I think, where the ot is quoted, and Yahweh occurs... What does Paul write in that place?

I will not put my hand in the fire, but I can almost guarantee you that the King of the Jews did not teach in Greek in any synagogue. That alone would have given rise to stoning anyone. As for Paul, look at the wording of my post, I use theword, probably. Actually debating which languages were used is moot with me. You see I am convinced by my faith, a gift from the Lord, Himself. It is certain others are convinced by the writings of men, scholars, who had people to serve and agendas to fulfill.

Yes! I think we're getting somewhere now! So part of the answer as to why use Yahweh in nt times is that Luke is inaccurate - that's an idea I'm OK with - and another part is revelation... God showed you to do this... Thanks for the answer... Let me know if I didn't summarize your views correctly, or if you have follow up thoughts... Thanks again for your time!
