Ehhhh, I say a better test would be to try to live for God... And he will use what he see's fit... For instance recently I think God is using me for a more evangelistic approach to atheists and mormons at the moment which would be teaching and evangelism...

Where as earlier around a few months ago he was using me as more of a healer, for a few people who were growing tired in their walk...

I don't entirely disagree with sites like that, and I think for some people they can pinpoint their 'gift'... But those mire briggs type of gift tests are really geared more to reasurance then anything else... The reason I say this is because you are most likely going to view your life with the aspects you want. And gear your answers towards the gift you want...I.e. if you want healing more then prophecy you might discount those 8 dreams you have had, and put more weight on you seeing a friend in hurt, which has happened considerably less then the prophetic dreams...

The best tests in my opinion is asking people around you, who are able to see your life in person... And to work for the lord and see if you are gifted with digging holes, or building houses...

If you have a spiritual gift then God would have told you what it was. You do not need a test, taking a test is wrong, it tells you nothing about the gifts you have been given. What if an athiest took this test? Does that mean God gave the atheist gifts ? I think not.

You make a good point about the atheists... But I think you are using a bad analogy to support your point... I personally believe that God could use that type of test to help someone understand or what not... But I also strongly believe that there are better and more accurate ways to go about it...

This could also be the way God tells your of your gift...

I just find it remarkable at how quickly ppl get out their scud missiles when all I was trying to do was make a helpful suggestion.
The forums have become a wasps nest.If people are so frustrated with their lives they should take up a sport or see a therapist.
As for me.This might be my last post in a long, long while ,or at least until this place has some modicum of respect for its fellow members.

With all due respect this "test" has been promoted here before. Nonetheless don't get your nose out of joint just because some do not agree with you or feel that you are on a wrong path.

Scripture says that the Holy Spirit gives gifts to whom He willeth and each according to his ability. How can any test determine what the Holy Spirit is going to do? In personal testimony I have done many things that I would never have done apart from the Holy Spirit in God's power. If we are faithful in seeking to love the Lord our God with all our strength everything else will take it's proper place in our lives.

The responses here were given with a decent attitude. I see no attacks, insult or putdowns. I think you are being overly sensitive. Have you stopped to consider the possible validity of what's being said rather than getting defensive? Good intentions do not always equate to right actions. So you may have meant well, but that doesn't mean the responses you've received are invalid.

Nothing is without fault... Everyone here is flawed... :)

I will pray that you find a group to strengthen your beliefs in the way that will best build you up...

And if I did hurt you in any way, can I ask you to p.m. me on how and why... :) I just want to know for future reference... Not so I can refute it...

You would be correct if this test were talking about the 9 Gifts of the Holy Spirit found in 1 Cor 12, but this test is about the motive gifts in Romans 12 which are given by the Grace given to us. The Greek word grace in Romans 12.6 is Charis, which means unmerited favor.

The 7 Romans 12 motive gifts are different than the 9 Holy Ghost gifts, because you are given these gifts and they are not distributed as the spirit wills. These gifts are part of what our spiritual personality is. Most Christians stop at Romans 12.1-5 but never read the rest of the chapter, the reason we are to transform our mind and be a living sacrifice is because of the gifts listed in Romans 12.6-8

These gifts mirror the ones also found in 1 Peter 4.10-11.

Before you pounce, make sure you know what you are talking about.

There is not and validity to any replies because you guys are confused on the gifts the test represent. For the record many protest denominations, including the Baptists and even catholic and Lutheran's all use a very familiar test to the one posted.

The 7 Romans 12 motive gifts are complete different than the 9 Gifts of the Holy Ghost recorded in 1 Cor 12, the 2 sets of gifts are not at all the same.

below are the 7 Romans 12 Motive Gifts:

Below are the 9 gifts of the Holy Ghost found in 1 Cor 12:

1) Word of Wisdom 2) Word of Knowledge 3) Faith 4) Gifts of Healing 5) Working of Miracles 6) Prophecy 7) Discerning of Spirits 8) Divers (or different) kinds of Tongues 9) Interpretation of (different) Tongues

Again,
before you pounce be prepared.

Good stuff Mooky, don't let them tear you do, because if you do these things, you shall never fall!
Except no one tried to 'tear you do'. They were all quite nice about it. Which was my original point, had you bothered to read. Funny you want to put people down for 'pouncing' when not one person behave that way, except for you.

I took the test and the results were fairly interesting and quite accurate. I don't set much stock by these sorts of things but neither do I see any harm in it. I think we all have the gifts of the Spirit in different measure at different times in our lives. The Spirit gives us what we need to do the Lord's will where ever we are....what ever we are doing...for whoever needs us.
