In a nutshell? It's us, believers, leaving YAH's word alone to do the talking. Seeking out what we don't understand. And accepting what we don't know yet. YAH didn't need our help when He directed His chosen what to write. How is it that so many think they can declare something about scripture, especially when it doesn't confirm what they claim?
If more believers let YAH's word do the teaching, instead of trying to put denominational garbage in it, more believers would be in sync and less in contraversy.
do you follow your own advice?

"use scripture to disprove scripture"?

no not a good idea, but often we use Scripture to explain and unveil the purpose of OT scriptures and commandments.

Jesus shows us how the shadows reflect the Truth. How the Tabernacle and its rules were to be a shadow of the REALITY in Heaven.

What are we missing?

I'd rather not gossip about other people and what they do.

Either tell them straight up with a loving rebuke or focus on your own walk. that's what I've always been told.

There is no point in talking about what "those" people are doing wrong.

To me this seems too much like gossip. IF you think this is gossip and don't like it, no one is making you partake in this.

if you have issues with me, don't dance around. Just say it, pm. Now you're making this personal, if you feel guilty about something, maybe you should pray and ask YAH if something is up. If I have an issue with you directly, I have no problem telling you.

Same thing applies to anyone else. just pm them about it or call them out when they try to as you say "use scripture against scripture"

It may be you are just misunderstanding them, or it may be that they don't care. And it just may be that I'm attempting to get into deeper conversations with those who like to peel the onion.

Either way. the solution isn't to make a thread about it.Again, you're not obiligated to participate.

Its to pray for understanding and clear communications.

I see Satan having fun dividing people and creating a "us" against "them" mentality.
Hope this cleared things up for you a little.

The OP's point is clearly true.

For example, in another place on this forum we have the Zionist and the anti-Zionist going toe-to-toe, Christian-to-Christian using verses as weapons and interspercing (sp?) the verses of scripture with their own hateful opinions toward each other, and to other non-Christian groups.

There are people who want to use scripture to be unpleasant and be divisive.

The reason is the teaching of man and, I'm sorry to say, the Bible.
The letters of Paul make it clear we are to resist those who misinterpret the gospel and scripture.
So those who are taught this doctrine or that are often taught that any who disagree are wrong and possibly not real Christians.

My own church (though I'm largely distant from it now) has many non-orthodox doctrines and yet many within it insist they refer to the beliefs of the church (their church) as The Truth.
It's like with the establishment of formal non-persecuted Christianity back in the 4th century we have now settled into a "this is my doctrine; it is the Truth; all others do not have the Truth; and these are the verses that I have as weapons to defend these positions and these are the verses I have to attack those who don't agree"

In the early church people discussed things and opinions did change.
A perfect example is the change of heart of James about the gentiles (in the book of the Acts of the Apostles).
A less than perfect example is the teachings of Clement of Alexandria which incorporated much greek philosophy.

So I think the problem is people think they are using the "Armour of God" when they do this type of thing.
Very nice, excellent points. Thank you. I agree, and that is part of what I was talking about.

A perfect example is the change of heart of James about the gentiles (in the book of the Acts of the Apostles).
uh...pardon?
what change of heart?:)
James made an executive decision on his own?

no, the whole passage is about the very same Judaizing that was condemned by Paul in Galatians!

it says some of the Circumcision party were going down without authorization disturbing the believers, saying: "1Certain people came down from Judea to Antioch and were teaching the believers: “Unless you are circumcised, according to the custom taught by Moses, you cannot be saved.”

Who else does it say really ordered what was to be said to the gentiles?

Acts 15
Greetings.

24We have heard that some went out from us without our authorization and disturbed you, troubling your minds by what they said. 25So we all agreed to choose some men and send them to you with our dear friends Barnabas and Paul— 26men who have risked their lives for the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. 27Therefore we are sending Judas and Silas to confirm by word of mouth what we are writing. 28It seemed good to the Holy Spirit and to us not to burden you with anything beyond the following requirements: 29You are to abstain from food sacrificed to idols, from blood, from the meat of strangled animals and from sexual immorality. You will do well to avoid these things.

Farewell.

Agreed, so we are missing something then. The word is perfect. But we are not, so we in our finite minds, aren't grasping something either due to lack of knowledge or refusal to accept what's before their eyes.
Hence James 1:5-8 and Psalm 119:130
you might feel there's something lacking in your Christian life dear friend.
most of us don't.

you're alright with that aren't you?

you know the Gospel is by Grace through faith in Christ's Work.

there is nothing lacking.

anyone born from above will do the good works God ordained that they should walk in.

they are justified; they are sanctified; they are being transformed; they are already seated with Christ in the heavenlies.

nothing lacking.
all scripture is God-breathed and able to make everyone graciously saved perfect for every good work.

if you choose one day over another; or to wear some fabrics and not others; to not mix milk and meat or whatever your traditions are - God Bless you in that.

John 14:26 [SUP] [/SUP]But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.

1 John 2:27 But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him.
