What is true Salvation in the Bible? - Search (bing.com)

The Day of Judgment Loving your neighbor is the REAL “SALVATION ISSUE.” Those who know THE LAWS OF GOD, of course, should obey ALL of them – all that God has revealed to them. To fail to do so would be SIN and REBELLION against God! Those who know God’s commandments, and still disobey, and fail to keep them will be judged accordingly! As Christ said, “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the Kingdom of heaven, but he who does the WILL of My Father in heaven. Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not PROPHESIED [PREACHED] in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?’ And then I will 17 declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice LAWLESSNESS’” (Matt.7:21- 23). So in the end, a “salvation issue” would be continual and deliberate DISOBEDIENCE to God, or presumptuous REJECTION of truth, knowingly. It is the sin of being confronted with the truth, understanding it, and then deliberately rejecting it and refusing to repent and change and accept God’s jurisdiction and authority over your life.

It is also known as the “unpardonable sin” (write for our article on this subject). This is not something to take lightly, but nor is it something in which we should attempt to judge others. Only God knows the hearts and minds and inner motives and thoughts of people (Heb.4:12). But as the apostle Paul wrote: “For it is impossible for those who were once ENLIGHTENED, and have tasted the heavenly gift, and have become partakers of the Holy Spirit, and have tasted the good Word of God and the powers of the age to come, IF THEY FALL AWAY, to renew them to repentance, since they crucify again for themselves the Son of God, and put Him to an open shame . . . whose end is to be burned” (Heb.6:4-8).

Paul also wrote, “For if we sin WILFULLY after we have received the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins, but a certain fearful expectation of judgment, and fiery indignation which will devour the adversaries. Anyone who has rejected Moses law dies without mercy on the testimony of two or three witnesses. Of how much worse punishment, do you suppose, will he be thought worthy who has trampled the Son of God underfoot, counted the blood of the covenant by which he was sanctified a common thing, and insulted the Spirit of grace?” (Heb.10:26-29). The Bottom Line For all of those being called of God now, who understand His Word, who have been given the knowledge of God, the requirements of salvation are clear. As Peter put it, “REPENT, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit” (Acts 2:38). “REPENT therefore and BE CONVERTED, that your sins may be blotted out” (Acts 3:19).

The keys to eternal life, therefore, are to believe on Christ as the Messiah, and to follow His steps in all ways (I Pet.2:21) – to obey His every Word (I John 2:3-6). To strive to live by and obey “every word of God” (Matt.4:4; Luke 4:4). But the “bottom line” for ALL people, even those who are not called now, is to LOVE your neighbor – for if you don’t do this, then all the rest is nothing but vanity and hypocrisy – empty air and foolishness! You can keep ALL the commandments – the weekly Sabbath, the annual Holy Days, avoid unclean meats, abjure Christmas, Easter, Halloween, and all the other PAGAN holidays; you can wear 18 fringes on your garments (Num.15:37-41; Deut.22:12), you even give your life as a martyr, but unless you have LOVE for your neighbor, it would ALL BE IN VAIN – just a VAIN SHOW – NOTHING BUT VANITY! In truth, Yeshua summed it ALL up when He said, “Therefore, whatever you want men to do to you, do also to them, for THIS IS the Law and the Prophets” (Matt.7:12). All the rest, you might say, is “commentary.

What is true Salvation in the Bible?
For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them. (Eph 2:8,9)... And brought them out, and said, Sirs, what must I do to be saved? And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house. (Acts 30,31)

Why is salvation a GIFT of God? Because it can never be earned or merited.

The key to eternal life is realizing we can't follow His steps in all ways; we can't obey His every word. Even our efforts to love our neighbors will fall short.

"And the tax collector, standing afar off, would not so much as raise his eyes to heaven, but beat his breast, saying, ‘God, be merciful to me a sinner!’ I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other;" Luke 18:13-14

Yes, Salvation is indeed a free gift that cannot be earned or merited. Praise God!

Ephesians 2
[4] But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us,
[5] Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, ( by grace ye are saved; )
[6] And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus:
[7] That in the ages to come he might shew the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness toward us through Christ Jesus. (KJV)

Now, as with any free gift in this life, it can be neglected, lost or stolen. For example, someone could give you a free car, but if you fail to look after it by keeping the doors locked, the thief can come along and steal your free car. You were neglectful with your free gift, and so it is with Salvation. We must grow in the Lord by nurturing our Salvation. A consistent prayer life, fastings, living in the Word of God and walking in His holiness, i.e., commandments, are the ways to do this. These are not the "works" that Paul mentioned in Ephesians. Rather, these spiritual exercises are the works of God in us to develop us, taking us from babes in Christ to maturity in the faith. So, if we fail to grow in the Lord by neglecting these spiritual exercises, we are going to grow cold, discontent and/or lukewarm. The thief (Satan) has now come along and stolen our free gift of Salvation. God bless all!

Interesting, as I never heard of that before. Comparing God's Eternal Spiritual
Free Gift Of God To
the physical/perishable gifts of this world, imho, is Very weak,
Especially When God, Because Of:

Christ's ALL-Sufficient Work On The Cross!

Has An Abundance Of ( Over 12-Dozen ) Plain And Clear
Scriptures
Confirming His Eternal Salvation!

God's OPERATION On all HIS New-born babes In Christ!

God's Eternal Assurance!

God's Eternal Life Insurance!

Amen.

Hi friend. The Scriptures are definite in admonishing us to continue in the faith. There are things we must do after receiving Salvation. Here's one example.

2 Peter 1

[5] And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge;
[6] And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness;
[7] And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity.
[8] For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.
[9] But he that lacketh these things is blind, and cannot see afar off, and hath forgotten that he was purged from his old sins.
[10] Wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall:

Without a consistent prayer life, fastings and living in the Word, one will not be able to apply these things (and the other teachings in the Word) to their life; the person will surely backslide and fall from grace, as the free gift of Salvation was neglected.

Belief that Jesus was crucified, died and rose again, that He is God.

Knowing you are a sinner in need of grace

That by believing in Him, entrusting your salvation with Him you have forgiveness of sins, past present and future....

You have eternal life.

John 3:16, 3:36, 5:24, 6:40

Romans 5:8, 10:9-10

Ephesians 2:8-9

Plus many more verses.

Also 'turning from sins' is popular to put in tracts as part of salvation.. but there is a problem in that this is self reformation and works before being saved in the first place.

You can only turn from sin as a behaviour.. AFTER being saved.

Before getting saved you are dead in sin.

Romans 11:6
And if by grace, then is it no more of works: otherwise grace is no more grace. But if it be of works, then is it no more grace: otherwise work is no more work.”
Now to him that worketh is the reward not reckoned of grace, but of debt. But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness. (Rom 4:4,5)

Everything begins with God's grace. That leads to the finished work of Christ. And the one who wholeheartedly believes on Him and what Christ accomplished in His death, burial, and resurrection is justified by grace through faith. And repentance and faith go hand in hand.

When a sinner is justified by grace, God declares him (or her) to be righteous, and God deems him (or her) to be righteous. God imputes, or reckons, or counts the righteousness of Christ as applied to him (or her). God clothes the believer with the righteousness of Christ. It is called "the robe of righteousness" in Scripture. This is a GIFT of God's grace. And that is why it is called "Amazing Grace". It cannot be fathomed.

Love, Walter and Debbie
loved the read as usual bro and sister

“The keys to eternal life, therefore, are to believe on Christ as the Messiah, and to follow His steps in all ways (I Pet.2:21) – to obey His every Word (I John 2:3-6). To strive to live by and obey “every word of God”

Amen it’s a matter of hearing and believing Gods word which he annointed for all nations to believe first . some will and some won’t when they hear it

“It is written in the prophets, And they shall be all taught of God. Every man therefore that hath heard, and hath learned of the Father, cometh unto me.”
‭‭John‬ ‭6:45‬ ‭

“And it came to pass, as Jesus sat at meat in the house, behold, many publicans and sinners came and sat down with him and his disciples. And when the Pharisees saw it, they said unto his disciples, Why eateth your Master with publicans and sinners?

But when Jesus heard that, he said unto them, They that be whole need not a physician, but they that are sick. But go ye and learn what that meaneth, I will have mercy, and not sacrifice: for I am not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.”
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭9:10-13‬ ‭KJV‬‬

They that heard and believed it so then

“Then drew near unto him all the publicans and sinners for to hear him.

And the Pharisees and scribes murmured, saying, This man receiveth sinners, and eateth with them.”
‭‭Luke‬ ‭15:1-2‬ ‭KJV‬‬

And then

“And seeing the multitudes, he went up into a mountain: and when he was set, his disciples came unto him: and he opened his mouth, and taught them, saying,

Blessed are the poor in spirit: for their's is the kingdom of heaven.

Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted.

Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth.

Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.

Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy.

Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God.

Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God.

Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness' sake: for their's is the kingdom of heaven.

Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake. Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven:

for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you.”
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭5:1-12‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not commit adultery: but I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart.”
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭5:27-28‬ ‭

“Ye have heard that it hath been said, An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth: but I say unto you, That ye resist not evil: but whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also.

…Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thine enemy. But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you; that ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust.”
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭5:38-39, 43-45‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“But I say unto you which hear, Love your enemies, do good to them which hate you, bless them that curse you, and pray for them which despitefully use you.

But love ye your enemies, and do good, and lend, hoping for nothing again; and your reward shall be great, and ye shall be the children of the Highest: for he is kind unto the unthankful and to the evil.

Be ye therefore merciful, as your Father also is merciful. Judge not, and ye shall not be judged: condemn not, and ye shall not be condemned: forgive, and ye shall be forgiven: give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall be given into your bosom.

For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again.

And why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say?

Whosoever cometh to me, and heareth my sayings, and doeth them, I will shew you to whom he is like: he is like a man which built an house, and digged deep, and laid the foundation on a rock: and when the flood arose, the stream beat vehemently upon that house, and could not shake it: for it was founded upon a rock.

But he that heareth, and doeth not, is like a man that without a foundation built an house upon the earth; against which the stream did beat vehemently, and immediately it fell; and the ruin of that house was great.”
‭‭Luke‬ ‭6:27-28, 35-38, 46-49‬ ‭

who can really say they live this way perfectly ? But they all can say that is my goal that path set before me I will give all my heart to following the things Jesus taught us in the everlasting gospel that promise life but I also understand for my failures and the times I fail Jesus also gave me a doctrine that saves me while calling me to repentance and everlasting life with him

“And they were astonished at his doctrine: for he taught them as one that had authority, and not as the scribes.”
‭‭Mark‬ ‭1:22‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Jesus answered them, and said, My doctrine is not mine, but his that sent me. If any man will do his will, he shall know of the doctrine, whether it be of God, or whether I speak of myself.”
‭‭John‬ ‭7:16-17‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“And he taught them many things by parables, and said unto them in his doctrine,”
‭‭Mark‬ ‭4:2‬ ‭

he was many things on earth our teacher and the living word of God manifest to know him is one of them to just go to and trust the lord and begin to learn the thkngs he said and start to follow is where we really need to be but there’s always something else we can do better when you really hear what Jesus was teaching especially in his kingdom parables

when Jesus came it was this being fulfilled

“And it shall come to pass in the last days, that the mountain of the LORD's house shall be established in the top of the mountains, and shall be exalted above the hills; and all nations shall flow unto it. And many people shall go and say, Come ye, and let us go up to the mountain of the LORD, to the house of the God of Jacob; and he will teach us of his ways, and we will walk in his paths: for out of Zion shall go forth the law, and the word of the LORD from Jerusalem. And he shall judge among the nations, and shall rebuke many people: and they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruninghooks: nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more. O house of Jacob, come ye, and let us walk in the light of the LORD.”
‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭2:2-5‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“Hearken unto me, my people; and give ear unto me, O my nation: for a law shall proceed from me, and I will make my judgment to rest for a light of the people. My righteousness is near; my salvation is gone forth, and mine arms shall judge the people; the isles shall wait upon me, and on mine arm shall they trust.”
‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭51:4-5‬ ‭KJV‬

“Ho, every one that thirsteth, come ye to the waters, and he that hath no money; come ye, buy, and eat; yea, come, buy wine and milk without money and without price. Incline your ear, and come unto me: hear, and your soul shall live; and I will make an everlasting covenant with you, even the sure mercies of David. Seek ye the LORD while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near: let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the LORD, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon. For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts. For as the rain cometh down, and the snow from heaven, and returneth not thither, but watereth the earth, and maketh it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower, and bread to the eater: so shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.”
‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭55:1, 3, 6-11‬ ‭

“Now after that John was put in prison, Jesus came into Galilee, preaching the gospel of the kingdom of God, and saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel.”
‭‭Mark‬ ‭1:14-15‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.”
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭24:14‬ ‭

“And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.”
‭‭Mark‬ ‭16:15-16‬ ‭KJV‬‬

We can just do what we have learned and really know of Jesus word we can’t do the things we’ve never learned in his doctrine

This is the perfect and correct mind of a disciple in Christ according to Paul this will eventually be made clear to the reader

“Though I might also have confidence in the flesh. If any other man thinketh that he hath whereof he might trust in the flesh, I more: circumcised the eighth day, of the stock of Israel, of the tribe of Benjamin, an Hebrew of the Hebrews; as touching the law, a Pharisee; concerning zeal, persecuting the church; touching the righteousness which is in the law, blameless.

But what things were gain to me, those I counted loss for Christ. Yea doubtless, and I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ, and be found in him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith: that I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death; if by any means I might attain unto the resurrection of the dead.

Not as though I had already attained, either were already perfect: but I follow after, if that I may apprehend that for which also I am apprehended of Christ Jesus.

Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus. Let us therefore, as many as be perfect, be thus minded: and if in any thing ye be otherwise minded, God shall reveal even this unto you.”
‭‭Philippians‬ ‭3:4-15‬ ‭

We are never quite perfect in this life we just can only see in part but as we learn to walk in what we know our eyes open to more and more and we see how that heavenly goal is always just out of our own reach we’re always going to need grace to be perfect but our hearts need to truly belong to Jesus as his disciples and followers he taught us important things we should take them seriously they are forever

“Heaven and earth shall pass away: but my words shall not pass away.”
‭‭Mark‬ ‭13:31‬ ‭KJV‬‬

in those words are a lot of pure and true grace just Jesus telling us sinners “ your forgiven and I love you even though you’ve been a sinner , now come to me and learn from me and follow me and trust in me as you do that and I will save your souls even though we both know you aren’t perfect” I know your heart is after me to do only what’s right in my sight “ and so there is that bloodshed on that cross that is there forever because I know your heart and life for me

There are things we must do after receiving Salvation.
That is a given. Salvation consists of (1) justification, (2) sanctification, and (3) glorification. #1 and #2 belong to God and Christ.

#3 belongs to the Holy Spirit working in the hearts and minds of believers to transform them into the likeness of Christ. That means "walking in the Spirit" and "crucifying the flesh". It also means being a faithful witness and doing good works. It also means diligently studying the Word of God and obeying and it. It means many other things besides, including spiritual growth and maturity.

Grace is not a free ticket into Heaven. It's freely offered, but the maintenance is on the believer by means of yielding to the Holy Ghost. Without consistent prayer, fasting and living in the Word, a believer will be lukewarm at best.

Revelation 3
[14] And unto the angel of the church of the Laodiceans write; These things saith the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the beginning of the creation of God;
[15] I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot.
[16] So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth.
[17] Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked:
[18] I counsel thee to buy of me gold tried in the fire, that thou mayest be rich; and white raiment, that thou mayest be clothed, and that the shame of thy nakedness do not appear; and anoint thine eyes with eyesalve, that thou mayest see.

Have you ever sipped on lukewarm coffee, hot chocolate and/or soup? You probably wanted to spew it out, right? That's how Jesus sees us when we are lukewarm. Whoever has ears to hear, let them hear.

The church at Laodicea were a body of believers
They did not lose their salvation. They were out of fellowship with God and complacent.
There is much a believer in Christ can lose, but it's not the gift of eternal life. He can lose fellowship, answers to prayers, rewards, blessings, future opportunities to rule and reign under the Lord. The church was going to lose their pastor and no longer be God's assembly if they didn't correct those things that were wanting. Individual salvations of members was not the issue.

Ch. 3

25Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God; 26To declare, I say, at this time his righteousness: that he might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus. 27Where is boasting then? It is excluded. By what law? of works? Nay: but by the law of faith. 28Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law.

Galatians 3

"1O foolish Galatians, who hath bewitched you, that ye should not obey the truth, before whose eyes Jesus Christ hath been evidently set forth, crucified among you? 2This only would I learn of you, Received ye the Spirit by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith? 3Are ye so foolish? having begun in the Spirit, are ye now made perfect by the flesh? "

A believer in Christ's finished atonement doesn't continue to make atonement through keeping the law after salvation.
The believer in Christ is held by Christ's power, not his own. We are weak in the flesh and fail daily.

The Scriptures teach that those who continue to walk after the flesh will not inherit God's Kingdom. So, if someone receives Salvation, but later falls back into engaging in the works of the flesh again, that person has forfeited their free gift of Salvation. The person would need to repent with godly sorrow and return to the Lord, which includes being determined to not walk after the flesh anymore.

Galatians 5
[17] For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would.
[18] But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law.
[19] Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness,
[20] Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies,
[21] Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.

Grace is not a free ticket into Heaven. It's freely offered, but the maintenance is on the believer by means of yielding to the Holy Ghost. Without consistent prayer, fasting and living in the Word, a believer will be lukewarm at best.

Revelation 3
[14] And unto the angel of the church of the Laodiceans write; These things saith the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the beginning of the creation of God;
[18] I counsel thee to buy of me gold tried in the fire, that thou mayest be rich; and white raiment, that thou mayest be clothed, and that the shame of thy nakedness do not appear; and anoint thine eyes with eyesalve, that thou mayest see.

amen we have to start living our faith and not just thinking it it’s what James means by “ faith without works being dead “

“Wherefore lay apart all filthiness and superfluity of naughtiness, and receive with meekness the engrafted word, which is able to save your souls. But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.”
‭‭James‬ ‭1:21-22‬ ‭KJV‬‬

But we aren’t alone and it’s not all on us as we begin to become believers this is happening we give him our all but also he’s working In us to make us able as we do this

“Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.

For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.”
‭‭Philippians‬ ‭2:12-13‬ ‭KJV‬‬

As the word of God takes root in us he begins to cut away certain things and grow other things

we forget that we have to be a bar that can’t walk and learn to walk from daddy before we can ever walk upright in his presence

I look back over seventy years and realize without Gods grace for the times I utterly failed him I would be lost for sure as hard as I’ve tried to be great and right I failed too many times to count in seven decades

about for an old fool like myself I just realize I sure am thankful near the end that God Is true to his word and he truly is merciful to all who love him with thier imperfect hearts hat fail sometimes

we want to have the attitude your saying but we can’t ever forget that when we fall short he is faithful to everything he said even the true grace and acceptance he gives us up front it takes time for babes to learn to grow up into adults and even adults need that grace , at least I can acknolwedge I needed it for my entire life I never did get to the point t where I was able to be righteous on my own it seems like any time o started thinking that a hard stumble was near

awe sure do have a good and merciful God that loves even imperfect people who turn to him in truth
