... isn't the Truth referring to our Lord Jesus's attribute-- he says, "I am the way, the Truth and the Light"; thinking of the Truth as separate from Him (subjectively, as a previous poster said) doesn't make sense. I would tend to think of Truth as opposite of Deception, and born into sin I imagine I am succeptible to that deception (the non-way, and the darkness). In this thread, is your goal to define the Term of Truth, or just to engage other's in intellectual debate?
I'm not much of an intellectual.
The thread is about what truth is and who are of the truth.
It would be like saying the thread is about God and who is of God.
In order for one to be of God, one would have to have the Spirit of God in them, even as those who are of the devil have the spirit of the devil in them.
I think everyone would agree that the bible is the word of God and the word of God is truth. The question about the truth comes down to how it is interpreted. I'm not talking about hard to understand sentences or ones that can have two opposing meanings, but simple ones.
It's about how one looks at scripture.
Someone who is carnally minded will look at scripture from a carnal point of view and call it the truth. The carnally minded cannot receive truth above what the bible calls milk. It's something fit only for a baby, how to be born again. That's milk.
The carnally minded will reason away what is written because the word of God defies rational and logic.
The carnally minded put limits on God because they can only see the word of God through the natural mind, or the way things operate in the natural.
God operates in the world of faith.
For one to be born again, they would have to mix faith with the truth of the gospel that they believe in their heart. If it isn't in the heart with a confession of faith, then nothing will happen.
The same applies to answered prayers. If the word of God is not mixed with heart faith, nothing will happen.
I have talked to many people who say to me, 'I tried that faith stuff and it don't work'. And so they have to reason away the truth as to why God didn't answer their prayers.
It is like the seed that fell on stony ground. Because of trials and temptations, it died in their heart, causing them to fall away from the truth.
So now they have to make the word of God say something that fits their new belief. That being, "if it be God's will then your prayer will be answered", or "sometimes God says, yes, sometimes, no, and sometimes, wait", and so on.
Those beliefs are not from the truth of God's word because what is written in plain English was reasoned away, because they can't accept the truth of God's word, AS IT IS WRITTEN, or that God could possibly mean what is written, as it is beyond their comprehension, because they can only see things through their natural rationally reasoning glasses.
The reason for questioning truth is because you have soooooo many different denominations with soooooo many varying views, coming from the same bible. The question is why? I believe it is because many have departed from the truth of what is written, as it is written, for various reasons, and are not able to see the truth because the Spirit of Truth is no longer in them.
It is written, "can two walk together except they be agreed?"
If one no longer agrees with the truth of what is written, then the Spirit of Truth will leave and be replaced by the spirit of error. Now they will no longer be able to see the truth, like the Pharisees.
This I believe to be true.
And speaking of the truth, what we see, feel, and are experiencing is not necessarily the truth. It might be true or a fact, but the truth can contradict current situations and circumstances, thereby making it difficult to believe contrary or the truth of what is written in the word of God.
