Well, Jesus is the mediator of a new covenant. Melchizedek brought out the bread and wine which is the sign of the first covenant. Jesus brings out the bread and wine to signify His death. Jesus Christ is the King of kings so that makes Him the King of the kings that were slaughtered.

Was it because Abram gave the tithe that Abram was named Abraham? About Melchizedek being Shem, which son was cursed by Noah? It was Ham!

Gen_9:26 And he said, Blessed be the LORD God of Shem; and Canaan shall be his servant.

Canaan was the son of Ham. Jesus Christ said 'Mar_9:35 And he sat down, and called the twelve, and saith unto them, If any man desire to be first, the same shall be last of all, and servant of all.'

Melchizedek is an old Canaanite name meaning “My King Is [the god] Sedek” or “My King Is Righteousness” (the meaning of the similar Hebrew cognate). Salem, of which he is said to be king, is very probably Jerusalem.

Melchizedek, in Gen 14:18-19, is a composite of two of Jesus' rightful titles:



Melchizedek [his name] = My King of Righteousness or My Righteous King = the Lord Our Righteousness ( Jer 23:6, 33:16).

King of Salem [his office or title] = Prince of Peace (Isa 9:6)

In Hebrew, as in English; the words 'prince' king' and 'lord' are often but not necessarily used interchangeably.
