I am gonna have to disagree.
Adam did not have the gift of eternal life before the fall. He had conditional life. "But of this tree you shall not eat" His life was conditional on the fact he did nto eat of that tree.
It was not until after he fell by not obeying the condition God gave him to continue to have life that all mankind fell and the cause for a "gift" was needed.
The penalty of sin (all) is death. This penalty was passed down to all mankind from Adam. The GIFT of God is ETERNAL LIFE., Which is only ofered because "he who knew no sin was made sin for us" Christ died in our place so we could be set free from the penalty. We can't earn this gift. We don't receive it and god places us back under conditions to keep it (for then it would not be a gift) It is given freely by the love of God. not because we earned it. or could ever earn it. But because of his love for us.
God said he would never leave nor forsake us. Which means he would never let us go even if we try to walk away from him (ie the prodigal son) We can not hide from God. no matter how hard we try. God will find us, and return us home, as a Sheppard does a lost sheep.
as for he who endures. This is speaking of the "great tribulation" where you have the wrath of God and the wrath of satan in their greatest battle the earth has ever seen. Whoever endures to the end (of this time, when Christ returns) will be saved. Jesus is not talking about eternal salvation here.

Scott: this is a deliberate and deceitful mishandling of that passage to justify an entire system of infallible oral traditions (= apostolic authority), when the text SAYS NOTHING OF THE KIND.

PS A slogan is not the truth, so saying "hogwash" proves nothing. Name one Scripture that the truth wasn't discovered until between 1509 and 1564 by John Calvin, who is the founder of your Reformed faith, like it or not; you owe your tradition to Calvin, not to the New Testament.
Scott Erie PA PS And Calvin misinterpreted Augustine, or at least took Augustine at his words, in those passages in his writings where Augustine was preaching heresies.

When I first got saved I just read Gods word for a year and went to any church where believers gathered to praise and worship Jesus. Things were so much easier and better. Once I started going to a single church then it all got complicated, doctrine this doctrine that, when it was just so much easier loving Jesus alone.
Now it's this "ism" or that "ist" do this or believe that to be saved it just makes me realise more each day how I long for that first year I walked with Jesus.
What is truth??? That Jesus is the Son of God who come to save not condemn, that all who believe and call His name shall be saved, that gifts and miracles are His to do by His will, that I'm to crucify the lust of the flesh and not give in, that His grace will see me thru to the end as long ad I walk in His commandments.
Been thinking and praying last few days about what really matters. Sometimes we put the epistles over what Jesus said more so than anything and just bind ourselves up again it seems.
It is all about Jesus

As to why the churches ae devided?
Simply because we are not perfect.
It is Jesus that brings and is perfect.
I was thinking about this last night, and wondered if when the days of persicution come, all that live in Jesus, will unite .
Simply because, when there is a common enemy attacking or disaster, people will set differances aside .
To protect, care for. and show streangth and love.
Although I do believe all will be brought to compleation in Jesus, He is that which will unite.
