Why has the mainstream church become a powerless church?

this is a sad state of affairs from our perspective. as we know will complete his will with or without us. as he said to Ezekiel, can i not raise up these dry bones? jesus said something similar when concerning children of Abraham. Matthew 3:9 Matthew 3:9 And do not think you can say to yourselves, 'We have Abraham as our father.' I tell you that out of these stones God can raise up children for Abraham..
The government, practices and ministries of the Church where changed in 313AD after Constantine issued the Edict of Toleration (Milan), up until that time the Church enjoyed continual revival, and afterwards only sparadic outpourings of the Holy Spirit, so a study of early Church ministries etc. will give you the recipe for revival.

Many of the churches today have fallen into the trap of "explaining God " rather than "preaching God "causing many divisions among the brother.
Forming different and strange doctrine. Leaving their first love....Christ .
The Lord said that his ways our not our ways and his thoughts are not our thoughts.
The power of the gospel has been watered down with apologetics which has it's place but not in the message of offered salvation.
Jesus and John both parroted these words "repent for the kingdom of heaven is at hand" bringing good news to the weary, the opressed, and the lost.
We are called to preach the gospel not explain God. Taking the task of the Holy Spirit is not our calling.

I don't see the Mainstream Church as powerless at all. I think it has accomplished it's purpose quite well. They have created an image of God, against the Will of that same God, in the likeness of some long haired men's hair shampoo model that the entire world associates with "Christianity". They have successfully destroyed God's Salvation plan which begins with Passover, and replaced it with their own Salvation plan which ends with Passover.
They have successfully corrupted the New Covenant Priesthood with men who can't keep their hands off little girls and boys, with preachers who live like the kings of this world with marble toilets and golden dog houses. They have truly given the enemies of the Lord a reason to Blaspheme God's Holy Name.
They have created so much confusion, so much corruption about the Word of God that people have no clue what the Bible really says anymore, and when someone points out the truth, it is like a foreign language to them.
Jesus warned His People of this, but even His Warnings have been defiled by "Christianity".
Matt. 24:3 And as he sat upon the mount of Olives, the disciples came unto him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world?
4 And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you.
5 For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many.
There is only one group of people on the planet that "comes in Christ's Name" and that teaches that Jesus is truly the Christ, the true Son of God and that is not Islam, or Atheists. It is Christianity.
Stones, do you remember telling me this is a warning about "many" who call themselves Jesus? This is exactly what I am saying. You were told by some "Christian" preacher that this was a warning about men who call themselves Jesus so you were waiting for this to happen. When it truth you were already lied to by those who come in Christ's name who teach Jesus is the Christ, not themselves.
No, the Mainstream Church is not powerless at all. It is doing just what Jesus, the Prophets of old and the Apostles of the New Testament prophesied of. Just like the Mainstream Church of Christ's time, and of Jeremiahs.
But who really believes in the Bible, right?
Rev. 18:3 For all nations have drunk of the wine of the wrath of her fornication, and the kings of the earth have committed fornication with her, and the merchants of the earth are waxed rich through the abundance of her delicacies.
How much of the worlds economy hinges on the man made religious High Days, Christmas and Easter? How much money is there in the promotion of idols, images, movies, cards, etc. just in the image the Christian church created of God? (Against the first and greatest commandment)
4 And I heard another voice from heaven, saying, Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues.
5 For her sins have reached unto heaven, and God hath remembered her iniquities.
But it has always been this way.
Gen. 12:1 Now the LORD had said unto Abram, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father's house, unto a land that I will shew thee:

No, the Mainstream Christian Church is very powerful. By the Grace of God I have escaped it's deception (Most of it, God is still revealing these to me) and have been working to help my brothers see the Light. But once we have been deceived by this power, it is difficult to escape as the examples of the Mainstream Church of Christ's time show us.
Without true Faith in the Word which became Flesh, it is impossible to know the truth.
John 14:15 If ye love me,(The Word which became Flesh) keep my commandments.
16 And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;
17 Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.

If you haven't, some concept of what you're reading as you go along. Check who is posting what. "Banned" means the person was kicked off this site. A faded name with the word "Guest" under it, means the person asked the moderators (mods) to end their account. Now, do understand, we can leave whenever we want, so it's not like we have to ask to have our names removed. The ones who do are doing so, because they never want to come back.

You are so right. It's a very sad thread. It is a magnifying glass on what is considered "Christianity" today. And where did this thread go? It went into "what's wrong with THEM," "conservative vs. liberal," and "What I said is right, so learn from me."
Lots and lots of that happened. And in between the cacophony of noise was a quiet little message often ignored when it seeped through. The message?
It is all about God. He is sovereign. He still has himself a people. His plan is still working, because he is God.
This is the church today -- both the visible and invisible. Lots and lots of people think they are Christians because they were raised in the church or think about churches/grace/End Times/how the world was created/how to prosper/etc. Basically because they think about stuff where God is somehow involved. But few really understand it's about God. His glory. His majesty. His sovereignty. And that is the difference.
God still has himself a people. It has nothing to do with what church they go to. It has to do with him. And because of that, there is the true church. The invisible church participating in the visible church. Don't be fooled into thinking it has anything to do with the word "mainstream."

Because they will not teach the Word of God so the Holy Spirit can regenerate the hearts of people, because of the Fathers mercy. There are to many unregenerate men in the pulpit, so they do not understand that the Holy Spirit and the Word of God work together in the regeneration of the heart.
I Peter 1:22-23 “Having purified your souls by your obedience to the truth for a sincere brotherly love, love one another earnestly from a pure heart, 23since you have been born again, not of perishable seed but of imperishable, through the living and abiding word of God;”
James 1:18 “Of his own will he brought us forth by the word of truth, that we should be a kind of firstfruits of his creatures.”
Ephesians 1:13 “In him you also, when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation, and believed in him, were sealed with the promised Holy Spirit,”
Ephesians 6:17 “and take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God,”
The sword of the Spirit needs to be used more in the preaching/teaching the the Church. I am not talking about using Scripture to make the teachers point, no. I am talking about teaching the Word of God to make God's point. If you do not understand how the Word of God and the Spirit work together, maybe it is because you have not experienced them working in your life.
The mainstream church is powerless because of apostasy. It is powerless because it is Christ-less. All church that operate in their own power are powerless.
The power is in the preaching of the word of God. It is not in programs or various ministries although they are avenues through which the word of God gets out to some groups of folks that need services.
