see, e.g. the key word is boast. that is what they seem to want to do. tell us how great they are, how wrong we are, etc... I guess that they think they are the exception to the " no man can boast" that Paul said.

they have to boast, it is all they have, if they actually sat down and looked at their lives, and then realy realy looked at the perfect God. they would know how horribly deserving of judgment they are. But human nature (pride) will not allow them to.

Why then does James say show me your faith and I will show you my faith by works. See this is what I am talking about trying to make works mean nothing but all faith. If a person does nto produce fruit that branch is cut from the vine. Jesus said that. I am the vine you are the branches every branch that does not bare fruit will be cut off and thrown into the fire.

James is saying many people say they have faith, but are liars He said belief is not enough (even demons believe) you claim you have faith, prove it. Like I will.. By my works.

James was not decrying works, he was decrying an easy believing licentious gospel which was running rampant in his people.

he stated a fact, If you claim you have faith (are saved) but have no works, Your faith did not save you (it was mere belief) because your faith was dead.

This is how it goes most times when works are mention it's taken that peopl eare saying works to be saved. How clear does the Bible have to be? No work can save you because it is a gift from God and you do not work for a gift. It's your b-day and you have a party peopl ebring you gifts, now how much work did you do to get the gift? Therefore works cannto save, yet If you are saved you will have good works because as James says that is active faith and only active faith saves.

yes, but there are some who say that works must come first, then you are saved, and then say you can lose salvation. And use james to prove their point.

what kind of faith can you have, what kind of hope can you have if it is dependent on yourself? Your hope is in self. not God. if it was in God, then you would never lose faith or hope. Because God will never leave, nor forsake us.. amen.

If that were true, this passage becomes meaningless,

Romans 3:10-19 As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one: There is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after God. They are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable; there is none that doeth good, no, not one. Their throat is an open sepulchre; with their tongues they have used deceit; the poison of asps is under their lips: Whose mouth is full of cursing and bitterness: Their feet are swift to shed blood: Destruction and misery are in their ways: And the way of peace have they not known: There is no fear of God before their eyes. Now we know that what things soever the law saith, it saith to them who are under the law: that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God.

(As if not to mention, what, our Holy, Holy, Holy Lord wants some of our "filthy rags," first?)

Sometimes I have to work too have faith ... while other times ... I have to have faith it works. Make Sense?

Jn 3:16 does not say "believeth only". Comparing Jn 3:16 with Jn 6:27-29 believing is a work itself.
I would think GOD put all that was needed to be said in John 3:16.
A person can't ponder, they just have to know GOD inspired man to write that and if GOD wanted something else with the word believe,i think he would have made sure it was written down there.

So you are saying faith + works saves. For if one has no works then he never had faith so by implication you are making works necessary in order to be saved.
Why is it that people try to twist words?

I said...............if you do not have faith then you will not do works.
It all starts from being faithful. If you are faithful and believe in Jesus Christ then YOU ARE SAVED<<<<<

Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father. 13And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. 14If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it.

You can NOT do WORKS if you have not been filled with the holy spirit. THIS IS WHAT JESUS SAID.

Jesus said unto him, If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth.Mark 9:23 So therefore, if faith without works is dead according to the law, thus grace is made void by the law of faith which is dead without works. Therein, if works are required for the gift of grace, then salvation is no longer a gift of grace by hope of the believer but the works by faith. And Jesus looking upon them saith, With men it is impossible, but not with God: for with God all things are possible. Mark 10:27

The easiest way to determine if one is saved or not is whether they believe that all things with God are things are possible, the lost believe.

I agree and it seems like the norm for workers for salvation to not only twist what we say, but also to twist the word or God, reject the word of God, add to the word of God and deny Greek words and definitions of words that contradict their heretical dogma....Galatians teaches clearly that those who add works to faith for salvation teach a heretical gospel with no power to save....The bible states clearly to not be removed from the simplicity that is found in Christ Jesus and it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that BELIEVE...TO a lost man who trusts into himself and his abilities it seems FOOLISH to simply BELIEVE and be saved.....pretty clear to me and the order is given...

LOST-->hear the word-->believe the word-->saved, justified and sanctified=the ability to do the works

And lest we forget...it is not us that is doing the works, but rather JESUS through us that is doing the works dia the HOLY SPIRIT dwelling in us and that is why salvation is not based upon what we do, but rather our eternal salvation/justification is based upon the faith OF Christ Galatians 2:16-21......

Salvation first .... good works after

No one can save themselves by doing works that some religious organizations tout as necessary for one to be saved

An individual saved is one set free from the law .... and free to do good works and to witness to the unsaved

No one is saved by the keeping of the law .... the very purpose of the law is to convict

.... and no one could keep it 100% all of the time anyway .... people are not built that way

Once one realizes this fact .... the next step is to turn to the only One who can save

A man cannot save himself

A man cannot save himself
If man is saved by grace by his faith then obviously he can.

But then again, it is His faith that saves you, it is His work that manifests your salvation, it is the gift of God.

For the gifts and calling of God are without repentance.Rom 11:29

Trying to earn your salvation with works is not biblical, but neither is saying you believe but do not have works.
Salvation and works go hand and hand. Even our Lord Jesus says that if He is your Lord you would do what He says.
If you do not do what He says like repent of your sins, be baptized, confess Him before others, live your life in love toward others including your enemies, and producing good fruit ( works ) then you are not part of His sheep.

Luke 6:46-49

And why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say? Whosoever cometh to me, and heareth my sayings, and doeth them, I will shew you to whom he is like: He is like a man which built an house, and digged deep, and laid the foundation on a rock: and when the flood arose, the stream beat vehemently upon that house, and could not shake it: for it was founded upon a rock. But he that heareth, and doeth not, is like a man that without a foundation built an house upon the earth; against which the stream did beat vehemently, and immediately it fell; and the ruin of that house was great.

The last part of this scripture that I posted in what our Lord Jesus says shows that if you do not do as He says and follow Him then your ruin will be great.

"like repent for your sins" For the gifts and calling of God are without repentance. Rom 11:29 But those born of the Spirit and the Word sins not, as written in 1 John 5:18 "We know that whosoever is born of the God sinneth not;"

Does not Matthew 4:4 state "it is written"? "Man does not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of the LORD does man live."

My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: John 10:27

So if you don't hear His voice then you are not part of his sheep?

Saving faith comes by hearing and hearing the word of God. The Holy Spirit ministers through the word of God and convicts of sin, righteousness, and judgment.

So God needs a book to tell people that by man does not live by bread only, but by every word that proceedeth from the mouth of the LORD doth man live.

No man comes to Christ of his own volition.

Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. John 14:6

God draws him or he does not come.

No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him: and I will raise him up at the last day. John 6:44

Many who are drawn draw back and do not come to the Light. John 3:18-21
