I notice that the stronger my relationship becomes with GOD, the more the people in the public make me feel like im not worthy of life. I can't describe to you how people stare at me with such malice in their eyes. I've spotted out quite a few people who have their eyes cold fixated on me as if I'm doing something wrong or they want to like harm me.

I used to get really really angry over this situation, but I just pray to God now and ask him to help shield me from these peoples cold stares. Everywhere I go I have to ask God to go before me and clear my path of my enemies I suppose. I know there are some Christians who can walk in the public and people see them as normal. However with me it's like an exhausting battle everyday.

I feel like I have a really strong presence and it bothers people. I can't really help it either. I guess for example I take the bus everywhere. Usually after I sit down there is always about 10-15 people who turn around to look at me. Then I've noticed that when new ppl get on the bus, they will scope around and find me for some strange reason and look at me the entire ride. People randomly spot me out a lot. And im sure their thinking why did they RANDOMLY look at ME out of everyone else. So it makes them a bit more weary of me.

I hope I dont sound weird or creepy, but I dunno how else to describe this situation. It's te best I can do. Hopefully you all believe me thank you! <3

Ok i dont want to sound like Captain Obvious but maybe they are looking at you because you are looking at them. I dont mean to be rude in the slightest but sometimes people can say they saw me somewhere and i dont see them because i wasnt looking there way. There can be a whole lot of reasons but I am not going to rule out something spiritual is taking place in your situation. I dont know, just dont worry about it and try to think about Isaiah26:3 "Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee." I hoped that helped. God bless and take care

"Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil's schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand." Ephesians 6:10-13

I've known a lot of Christians who, upon strengthening their relationship with the Lord, feel that they suddenly begin to face a nearly overwhelming amount of temptations or struggles. I firmly believe that this is because Satan wants us back- he doesn't want us believing in God, going to church, living for Christ, and so he places obstacles in our lives, in the hopes that we will stumble, that we will turn our backs on God.

I've never personally experienced what you've described, but I think your best option is to become even closer to the Lord, pray daily, "put on the full armor of God".

You'll be in my prayers.

I agree with studying the full armor of god. The stronger you get in the lord and more you grow spiritually new and different battles you will face. I haven't experienced liked you with people but if it can go wrong it does. If one thing around the house breaks down 2 more follow. What is simple for non believers fights me eveey step of the way. Continue to grow in the lord and study the armor of god the helmet of salvation, sheild of faith, etc. You can have a testimony without a test and no victory without a battle.

People do pay attention to someone if they are nervous and appear very aware of their surroundings. Try drinking a warm drink before you go out or taking a book to read to help focus your attention and see if the problem still exists. Blesssss :) :)

Maybe you're just a good-looking, natural head-turner. Could be the people who are looking at you don't realize the way they're looking at you. Could be you don't realize the way you look at other people. Who knows? Maybe they're just jealous. :p

If I were you I'd be a real creeper and ask one of them why they're looking at me funny. Might be enlightening.

Because the more you get into God, the more you learn about his awesomeness and how much he truly loves you and how incredible and infinite his goodness and power is, the more you will reflect that feeling of love and hope yourself and people will sense that in you and naturally be attracted to you and not even know why, so don't beat yourself up over it. They are the ones wondering what it is that is "different" about you (in a good way). :)

I agree with zeroturbulence; perhaps your a really bright light who is a beacon of God's love! But if for some reason they are actually cold stares, here's a verse for you:

Isaiah 54:17 - "No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD, and their righteousness is of me, saith the LORD."

I had the same problem for a long time. I wonder if its the demon oppression or possession in others that recognizes the Holy Spirit in you.

OK, first, I have got to say as a single guy, your very pretty, and probably are just turning a lot of heads. Second, and leave it to a gun toten redneck to say this, but if people look like they want to harm you... Perhaps it's time to look into getting a Concealed Weapon Permit, and carry. Do not test the LORD your God, if prudence calls for you to take actions to defend your life, then do it! Trust in God's word, and make that your sword. When you have the word of God in you heart, mind, and soul, and a Smith & Wesson on your side, no man, and no spirit will dare mess with you then :)

Okay, really? Where in the New Testament and in Jesus' commands are there any words advocating for violence or carrying a worldly weapon (such as a gun, sword etc) for self-defense? I've never understood that kind of mentality, and it just seems to me to say, "I'll trust God only so far to keep me safe, but when it comes right down to it, I'm going to have to rely on myself." And if that's the attitude someone has, then I would argue they don't really trust God to begin with. Why is God and having His Word in our hearts not good enough? Why would we ever have need to have a sort of "back-up plan?" God will never fail us. If we trust in Him, we can be sure of HIS will being done in our lives.

"Jesus said, 'My friend, go ahead and do what you have come for.' Then the others grabbed Jesus and arrested him. But one of the men with Jesus pulled out his sword and struck the high priest’s slave, slashing off his ear. 'Put away your sword,' Jesus told him. 'Those who use the sword will die by the sword. Don’t you realize that I could ask my Father for thousands of angels to protect us, and he would send them instantly?'"
-Matthew 26:50-53, NLT

And Jesus points out that He is not a "dangerous revolutionary," and that if He ever really needed help, He could ask His Father. I believe we are to follow His example and live by the same principle. In His life and His death, nowhere did Jesus ever set an example of violence and retaliation.

Teaching about Revenge

“You have heard the law that says the punishment must match the injury: ‘An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth.’ But I say, do not resist an evil person! If someone slaps you on the right cheek, offer the other cheek also. If you are sued in court and your shirt is taken from you, give your coat, too. If a soldier demands that you carry his gear for a mile, carry it two miles. Give to those who ask, and don’t turn away from those who want to borrow."

Teaching about Love for Enemies

“You have heard the law that says, ‘Love your neighbor’and hate your enemy. But I say, love your enemies! Pray for those who persecute you! In that way, you will be acting as true children of your Father in heaven. For he gives his sunlight to both the evil and the good, and he sends rain on the just and the unjust alike.'" - Matthew 5:38-45, NLT

Having faith, true faith and trusting God with all we are does not leave room for doubt, and if we have to resort to some other means for protection, then we are not really trusting Him.

And HolyGirlGodLuvr, I don't know what your exact situation is, but I would say that you can't go wrong following Jesus' example and listening to His words. Also, continuing to pray and read the Bible. God will give you the strength to face whatever trials come into your life. And most importantly, He loves you. He will continue to teach and lead you through all of life's hardships. Jesus Himself was persecuted, and He reminds His disciples that if they did that to Him, they would surely do that to anyone who follows Him.

"Do you remember what I told you? ‘A slave is not greater than the master.’ Since they persecuted me, naturally they will persecute you. And if they had listened to me, they would listen to you. They will do all this to you because of me, for they have rejected the One who sent me."

I agree with zeroturbulence as well. You may have that "certain something" they can't quite put their finger on, but you are" radiating" with God's love. What a blessing that is! (remember when Moses met with God on the mountain...everyone noticed he had a "glow" on his face) And also, not to diminish in any way what you are going through, but you ARE a lovely young lady and I wouldn't be surprised if you were turning heads. Praying God's protection for you as you travel.

Probably a dumb question, but have you ever smiled and said hi to any of these people? Maybe that would jolt them out of it, and remind them that you are an actual human being, and they'd leave you alone.

Eelhsa, I understand where your coming from, but as the scripture I quoted from, Dueteronomy 6;16, and Jesus repeats it in Luke 4:12 -'Do not put the Lord your God to the test.' Now the context in which Christ is talking about this is when he is fasting for 40 days and 40 nights, and the devil tempts Christ to jump off the building telling Christ that his father will send 10,000 angels to catch him. Christ says this because he realizes that while God will take care of him, and protect him, if he can take a simple step to do it himself then all your doing is testing God. So my point when I say (as long as your a lawful citizen) Carry a weapon, is when you can take a simple preventive step like this, and you don't, you are testing the Lord your God which is scripturally wrong.
As far as the disiple pulling the sword to protect Jesus, Christ said that because he knew it was his time to die on the cross, and he wanted nothing to interfere with God's perfect will. He who lives by the sword dies by the sword. Good piece of scripture that is also taken out of context. If I condone violence, and live a violent life, then I will die a violent death. My sword however is usually my tounge. I have had a permit to carry a gun concealed for over 8 years, and never even had to pull it, thank God. I hope to never have to pull it. I am very good at talking my way through situations, and defusing potentally dangerous situations. However isn't it better to have it and never need it, then to need it and never have it?

Eelsha, I respect your opinion, and understand it. My own mother and I have had the same debate, until she realized that my dog that lives with her, because she is so protective, is getting old. My mother then became more open to having a weapon in her room, just incase.

Next is the Eye for an Eye scripture you used. I don't believe in eye for an eye anymore than anyone else. I will not take revenge against someone for wronging me, but when someone is an immediate threat to my life, I will not hesitate to respond. I do find this scripture completely irrelavante to this debate, because if someone wants to kill you, you can't take revenge on them once they have succeeded to well now can you?

As far as you last scripture, you are absolutely right! She said she is praying to keep them away from her, and I think for sure, she needs to pray for their salvation, and pray that if they don't already have a relationship with Christ, that they will. Some have said she needs to talk to them, well I would preface that with, as long as its where plenty of people are around. Generally bad people are cowards in public places, not always as people seem to be getting more brasin all the time, but usually.

In the end, carrying a gun, or other lethal weapon isn't for everyone. First thing you have to do is ask your self if you can use it when the time comes? Once you have decided that, then you can decide if it is right for you.

May God bless both Eelhsa, and HolyGirlGodLuvr, and God bless America!

1Jn 3:14 We know that we have passed from death unto life, because we love the brethren. He that loveth not his brother abideth in death.

I love everyone on here. I do, however, want to humbly, yet seriously suggest for everyone on here to examine their own faith. We know a tree by it's fruit:

All of my posts in that thread would be good to read.

I'm not here to condemn anyone. Tree's that bear corrupt fruit do not belong to the LORD, nor do they speak His words. Trees that are planted by the Word, but, do not bear good fruit will be cut down and burned.

Stand on Christ as your righteousness up against those words. If you can't, confess what is hindering you to a brother or sister in Christ, now is a good time to do it.

HolyGirl,

Concerning your post:

Before I started following Christ, when I was just a young boy, a friend of mine taught me how to swear. He told me,

"Don't forget, I'm the one who corrupted you."

Some years later, at a different school, I still did not swear and curse that much. However, a new friend who never met the other friend, got me cursing much, much more. He said,

"Don't forget, I'm the one who corrupted you."

This battle is very real, and you are very blessed to be sensitive to it.

I have people that whip themselves around on the street when I drive by and look at me in the eyes like they want to kill me. I've had people go from minding their own business to straight up staring at me, raising their hand and pointing at me with death in their eyes. This has happened a couple times. When I walk into a store people will often get confused and/or sometimes start coughing. Sometimes the conviction of the Holy Spirit comes upon certain people and they become ashamed. I am then able to tell them about Jesus, or that He loves them.. .anything by love to prepare the ground, so they can find something solid to stand on when under conviction.

Many times people will start crying when I'm around them... but, most of the time, they are just plain mean.

We overcome all of this by love. Knowing that people are not are enemies. I suggest for everyone reading to make love their top priority in prayer.

What I do about all of this is pray. 'Putting on my armor' does seem to help my conscience in some battles, but, often I forget. If it helps your conscience then do it.

What helps me the most is praying a covering over the people, that they would be blind to sin, deaf to sin, mute to sin, and lame to sin. Bound from taking orders from the spirit of the world.
I also pray that my enemies (Eph 6:12) Would be blind, deaf, mute, lame, leprous, bound, and so on. There are a lot of prayers in the Psalms that can be prayed concerning Eph 6:12 enemies... "the LORD rebuke you Satan" is the best one that I have found outside of the Psalms to start off with.

Physical ways that I overcome it is to smile and say hi. Most of the time, people, not abiding in Christ, really have know idea what they are doing. They are just connected to their father, Satan, and Satan wants you dead. If you don't believe me, read the Bible and judge the man by his fruit. His fruit will tell you who he serves.

The reason why I can be so confident about this is because I have learned how to guard my heart by the Word of God and to use His Word to resist the tempter. Standing on His righteousness and not my own. I claim nothing in and of myself; by using the Word of God my heart has been circumcised from the spirit of the world.

If you are not a threat to Satan's kingdom, he probably won't bother you unless he's bored. If you are a threat, in anyway, he will try to distract you with whatever he is able... If you are not distracted, especially by your own battles, then that means that you are a dangerous threat, growing, out of his control.

To follow Christ is to lose your own life... how many people reading this have actually lost their own life, wants, and desires, to see Christ work through them during their short pilgrimage here on Earth?

Here is some more info that might help:

Thank you ALL sooooooooooooo much for your beautiful words of healing!!!!!! I have been told at my job by a random customer "I can tell you are a child of GOD, I am so glad to be in your presence right now". Also, RARE TIMES, other godly people will come up to me and just start talking to me about Jesus and I feel so blessed by that! So I think I do exude some sort of HOLY GLOW.

I do notice that people seem to know im there without having any clue that I AM actually there. I will pray and keep my growing relationship with my wonderful Holy Father! Maybe I can use this to help others that do not know God. Through all this I've learned that there are ALOT of people who don't know GOD. Pretty much everyone I encounter during a day. It's sad to see that, they are lost and have become one with the world.

I think my Godly presence is soo powerful that it frightens people (but everyone should live in fear of the Lord). I feel like I get the same reaction from people that they would react if Jesus made his second coming. Once again thank you all. I am so grateful God lead me here!

Sorry bout getting off subject but you ask where does new testament mention carrying worldly weapon thenyou list matt 26:50-53 where a diciple was carrying a sword. Defending yourself is not against gods word. What about christian cops or military. Is it wrong for them. It reminds of story in the movie the ten commandments when moses told joshua who refused to fight. It was flooding and the guy was on roof and someone said get on my camel then another came to help and he said I'm waiting for god and a guy with boat came and guy on roof said I'm waiting for god. He drowned and said to god why didn't you help. God said I sent you three neighbors what else did you want. Not everything warrants deadly force but saying its wrong for a christian to own a gun or use a gun is in my opinion kind of ignorant. If a person chooses not to that's their choice. My father in law was rob at gun point and hog tied by some thugs. He is a christian. He didn't have a gun at the time. He is ok but it could have been worse. Watch a video where someone you care about has that happen and you may feel different. Unless you have an arch angel visible by your side a gun can deter an attackee. Nothing against you and sorry redneck for butting in but that guns are bad mentality gets to me. Bless you both

There lies your problem (in the above words; your words). I like to be very clear and frank as we live in a world with lies, half truths and a bunch of Christians who are so mushy(for lack of a better word and not that you are one of them), they just feel what they want to (in the name of Holy Spirit) and it is sickening. No offense intended, Please forgive me if I seem harsh or weird (moving on).
Saying your ''
Godly presence is so powerful that it frightens people" must be so from a very funny doctrine that is not supported anywhere in the bible. To make matters worse "I feel like I get the same reaction from people that they would react if Jesus made his second coming" is just .............not right.

Here are some few words which you should search the scriptures for, it will do you much good even as you search;
Humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God an in due season He will exalt you
Let no man think himself highly than he ought to.
Elijah was just a man as we yet he prayed fervently that it would not rain ........then look at the old test... how he feared for his life

Bottom line, the essence of being a Christian or having Christ is not that we become Holier than thou (not that you are being holier than thou) ), unapproachable, etc we become like the Jesus most of us know, whom even those who knew not about salvation came to listen to, though not all of them came to hear the good word, as some came for the bread but Jesus still fed all. In fact, it was also in those crowds that we find those who sought after his life or for anything offensive that he would say to convict him.

I don't know how to put it nicely but you go on with your God given business and let the people be. There are too many other things that can draw attention to ourselves, too many; and yes (I agree with Redneck) from the photo you look quite beautiful or at-least since beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder, it will be safe to say many may behold your beauty and even more when you............

God bless.

Bless you both
Barukhmalachi,

I was not asking where in the New Testament it mentions carrying a worldly weapon, my point was where in the New Testament and in Jesus' commands is there any advocacy for carrying such a weapon in self-defense. My issue with this, as I stated before, is that this attitude seems to say you can only trust God so far, and the rest is up to you.

It seems to me that either you trust God completely, or you don't truly trust Him at all. Now, granted we live in a crazy world, one where it often seems necessary to take things into our own hands. But, God commands us to trust Him, and to know that He is watching over us. The root of all sin, right back to the fall of Adam and Eve and subsequently all mankind, is the result of people deciding God doesn't really know what is best for us, that He is withholding something from us, and therefore we must look out for ourselves.

God never wanted us to live in a world where we even need guns for protection, but since we do live in a sometimes violent world, He does desire that we put our trust in Him, and Him alone.

Oh, and nowhere did I say it is wrong for a Christian to own or use a gun. (Although I do think certain guns are not pleasing to God, such as those designed and created solely for the purpose of taking another human life.)

My dad owns hunting rifles, and he is a Christian, I have nothing against him for owning guns. My brother also owns a gun and hunts with it. I was not saying owning and using a gun is wrong, I was saying that I disagree with the attitude that seems to say, I need God AND a gun. Is God not good enough? Why do you need the gun as well? Again, Jesus by His words and His very example showed the disciples the way in which they should respond to persecution, and it was not by defending themselves in a potentially aggressive manner.

So, please don't accuse me of looking down on and condemning all those who own and use guns. There are respectful and responsible ways to use them, I get that, and I know many people who are responsible about the guns they use. But, there is no gun out there that could ever protect me better than the Lord. That's where I stand on it.
