Ive seen Samurai Champloo I would have never guessed it was christian based I'll have to look for it thank you :)
Please keep my warning in mind. The message is somewhat embedded in the events and it might seem to be working in contradiction to it at some points. There is a short period when there is a false church that is being set up to try and manipulate the families of the Christians that had been being persecuted. This arc seems to cast Christianity in a negative light, but there are Christian characters in other parts of the show that are seen in a very positive light (but more subtle). I definitely wouldn't say all the values promoted by the show is in line with Christian values, but there are plenty of Christian values promoted near the end of the show.

Think the creator of Trigun was catholic... I haven't seen the series in a long time but I seem to remember some Christian elements at the end. Very subtle but more so than I ever saw in any other anime.

Evangelion is NOT Christian at all... but I'm sure that's been addressed already. It just uses Christian stuff to make it seem more cool and mysterious... kind of like how we add japanese mysticism to a lot of american stuff.

Another anime that's not Christian at all but you could kind of draw up parallels was Wolf's Rain... Wolves looking for a paradise most no longer believe exist but wolves are called to it anyway even though many others think they're nuts... It wasn't intended to be sure but I kind of paralleled the wolves journey to a Christian's. Or a seeking Christian at the very least.

Claims of Yasuhiro Nightow being Catholic are not well substantiated. They started appearing online around the time that Trigun came out, but there was never any source of Nightow claiming to be one. However, Nightow took religious classes that covered Catholicism and other forms of Christianity so he has some understanding of the subject.
