By raising your children with one religion and telling them they will go to Hell if they do not believe it is WRONG. Children should be able to study religions and make their own decision.
So we should raise them to follow your worldview? I don't think so. We don't tell you how to raise your kids, you don't get to tell us how to raise ours. The Bible tells us to raise up a child and train him in the way he should go, and I fully intend on doing that when/if I have kids. The Bible also says that when a child comes of age, the child will be held accountable for his choices/knowledge. If my future son/daughter grows up and decides not to be a Christian, that's their choice.

You speak about studying other religions, but yet in another topic, you throw around statements of mockery like "So all religions are false, except yours right?" showing that you have done little to no actual research yourself, assuming that us Christians haven't ever looked into other religions.

And btw, thanks for verifying Hebrews 10:26-29 and Luke 21:17 again.

Sadly many people today and including some followers of Christ do not seek wisdom in the rearing of children. To rear a child is to stand over his or hers shoulder so to speak and guide his understanding. Also to stand as rear guard. To adjust his rear end at times. To point him to good conduct. To instruct into wisdom, knowedge and understanding. To act as a guide post. To also direct his or her activity. Love cracks the rod, Love rebulks, Love corrects, Love interfers at times, And lovespeaks truth. Love is gentle and firm at the same time. And Love puts it foot down at times. Children obey and parents raise the
children not the other way around. God plan Obey you parents. Parents are not perfect but we are forgiven.

Allowing a child to make their own choices is one thing, but withholding or distorting facts from that child is another. When a child is just discovering the stove and can climb, if you withhold from him that the stove gets hot you are not doing right by the child. It is the same way with withholding that God created the world and set up how it is run spiritually, physically, and morally.

The earth didn’t spontaneously just be, it was created. I told my children so. There are principles it runs on, I also explained that. Drop a ball, it falls. Steal something that belongs to others, there is a price to pay. There is a way for forgiveness. Scripture gives us these principles. Withholding them is not right. Children have to have facts to use as they make their choices, and the maturity to acquire the wisdom to use those facts.

The facts of how men/women were created were probably withheld from you, Godlessgirl, or you were a rebellious child who refused to learn the facts or your views on homosexuality would probably be different, they don’t follow facts. To toss a child out who doesn’t follow nature or the rules is one thing, but giving them in marriage without explaining is another.

What we should all know is that unlike other religions, Christians do not give birth to Christians, Muslims give birth to muslims, Hindus the same and so do other religions, Christians however, give birth to Babies and therefore a responsibility to guide and lead them in the way of the Lord. We are but stewards with God given (part) rights to take care of his children and we are charged to re-direct them back to their father and saviour, Yes they have a choice but they need information to be able to make the right choices, Hosea 4:6 says my people PERISH for lack of Knowledge, The bible does not say I will pity them because they did not know, it says they perish! And yes, we need to lead our children in the way of the Lord... teach a child in the way they go and they will never depart from it when they grow old

So... I let my child burn in hell for eternity? That's like letting your child walk into the path of a bus because it's their choice and you shouldn't force them into doing things, except for the fact it's to a much worse degree, that being Hell.

Let's also understand that, I don't regard Hell, Heaven, or Jesus as something that is likely, or something I believe in which may or may not be true, it is the truth. So I could not in good conscience allow my child to run wild without guidance.
Matthew, I'm a Christian. How do we know if heaven and hell even exist? How do we know if God exists? We put our faith in a supposed supernatural being that is shown to us through a book. A book?!?! Anyone could of wrote the thing. But I don't see how anyone can trust something in a book we haven't even seen. And I don't think GodlessGirl1 said that she would allow her child to walk into the path of an oncoming bus.

How do we know if everything the bible says is the truth?

you sound kind of shaky, perhaps you should put down some roots and read scripture for yourself and pray about it..

2 Timothy

2 Yes, and all who desire to live godly in Christ Jesus will suffer persecution. 13 But evil men and impostors will grow worse and worse, deceiving and being deceived. 14 But you must continue in the things which you have learned and been assured of, knowing from whom you have learned them, 15 and that from childhood you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus. 16All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, 17 that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.

2 Peter 1:19-21

New King James Version (NKJV)

19 And so we have the prophetic word confirmed,[a] which you do well to heed as a light that shines in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts; 20 knowing this first, that no prophecy of Scripture is of any private interpretation,[b] 21 for prophecy never came by the will of man, but holy men of God[c] spoke as they were moved by the Holy Spirit.

There are many reasons you can trust the Bible, here's a link to a few.

Dear One,

I believe that you may have unwittingly put your finger on the crux of the issue. A Christian is someone who has accepted Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior; who believes what Christ said in John 14:6, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me."

And to believe that, we must have faith. The writer of Hebrews defined faith as follows, "Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see. This is what the ancients were commended for. By faith we understand that the universe was formed at God’s command, so that what is seen was not made out of what was visible." (Hebrews 11: 1-3)

This faith, then, tells us that the Bible is true. In his letter to Titus, the Apostle, Paul said, "...in the hope of eternal life, which God, who does not lie, promised before the beginning of time,..." (Titus 1:2, emphasis added) He also said, "All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness,..." (2 Timothy 3:16, emphasis added)

Therefore, if we are "Christian", we believe what the Bible says because it is part of our faith. We are confident that God orchestrated the writing of each and very word to give us a guide book to help us navigate our way through the world without falling into wordly traps (such as questioning who wrote the Bible). To paraphrase several epistle writers, "you cannot love God and the world at the same time"

God bless you.

God bless you.

In reply to OP -
But God said...

KJV: Proverbs Chapter 22

[6] Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.
and ...
KJV: Proverbs Chapter 23

[13] Withhold not correction from the child: for if thou beatest him with the rod, he shall not die. [14] Thou shalt beat him with the rod, and shalt deliver his soul from hell.
And no that's not child abuse Dr. Spock, spanking warns the child of his wrong doing. If you don't warn a child he will not grow up in the way he should go, and might even end up dead, e.g. as above poster(s) said - playing with fire. Get's you burned. Although naughty corner was always good too. :p

I don't like how many of you refer to her as a "troll". There are plenty of people with conflicting idea's. Some of which should be contemplated. No need to disregard someone for having a different opinion than yourself. Maybe there is something to learn from EVERYONE...even those with different beliefs from yourself. I didn't see anything troll-like here.

The problem isn't her conflicting ideas, it's her mockery and pridefulness. Take this topic, where she's trying to tell us how to raise our kids and how any other way besides hers is wrong. Or you can take another topic where she claimed that all Christians are only Christians because we were told what to believe and incapable of making our own choices. Or claiming that all Christians are delusional and stating it as a fact. It's nothing but mockery and trolling.

That is the problem with coming into something late in the game and missing everything previous. You don't have all the facts. Lets cover some things you may not know about this 'non-troll' that she has said..

We brainwash our children by teaching them to trust in God.
We are closed minded.
Shes open minded.
That if God physically came down and talked to her, she would still refuse to believe in Him.
Her primary purpose in being here is to find out what we believe, then life our 'delusions'.
''You people take the bible way too literally''.

She made it clear, she did not come to this site to learn, she came to this site to free us close minded, child brainwashing, delusional religious fanatics from our wrong thinking and belief in God.

Please explain to me as to why you feel you have the right to tell complete strangers how to raise their children and how to believe.

What authority do you have to force your views on strangers, and expect people to do what you say?
Elizabeth, I don't think GodlessGirl1 was attempting to force her views onto anyone. I also don't think she was expecting people to do this. Don't make assumptions based on what YOU see. Read the post thoroughly before making assumptions please.

With love. GBU

In a broad sense , that is probably correct, however as parents as guidances , we still have to teach them what we learn what faith and love is, so that they grow up to be loving and civil human beings. If after they turn 18 and decide that whatever we taught them was not for them or for whatever reason, then I can't stop them , eg if they decide to turn Buddihist for example or marry a muslim etc... But at least as a parent I have done my job to teach them what love is and I will be satisfied with that. We all have to start somewhere.

Gods word has been reduced to "just a book" in the mind of the youthful Christian. I'll definitely be praying about that one. Bless your heart as God reveals HIS truth in His word.
