Don't let anyone else influence your taste in music. Listen to what you want. If you like it and makes you feel better, by all means, listen away. Don't worry what other people think.

Not really the best argument to compare music someone might enjoy to drugs which are addictive and in overdoses fatal. No one ever died from an overdose of evanescence.

2 other female lead vocal driven bands who are a bit more Christ-centered than Evanescence lyrically are Icon For Hire & Fireflight.

To cut to the chase on this thread... they are NOT A CHRISTIAN BAND. Never was, take it from their own words: Evanescence is... not a christian band.com Evanescence Set Pulled From Christian Distribution | Billboard
Billboard said:
Evanescence member Ben Moody was quoted recently in Entertainment Weekly as saying, "We're actually high on the Christian charts, and I'm like, What the f*** are we even doing there?"

Q: “Fallen” was first released in the Christian market. Do you consider Evanescence a Christian band? A: Can we please skip the Christian thing? I’m so over it. It’s the lamest thing. I fought that from the beginning; I never wanted to be associated with it. It was a Ben thing. It’s over. It’s a new day.
... and here's a comic for your thoughts: Angels?

Jack Chick?
You actually had the gall to post a Jack Chick comic?
Sure, he understands the seriousness of sin and how only Jesus Christ's righteousness saves us from eternal damnation, but he doesn't understand discernment, critical-thinking and freedom in Christ. Turn or burn, doesn't cut it. If people turn to Jesus out of fear, they're coming to him with the wrong motivations and their faith likely won't last, or be an unhealthy one.

Evanescence was originally made up of Christian band members. The reason they didn't want to be known as a 'Christian band', has little, if anything, to do with refusing Christ. The label suggests sub-par musicianship (lyrics and music) and a segregated community. They created music for everyone and some of it had Christian themes. That said, I don't know where the band is now with their beliefs, that's between them and God.

In the future, if you wish to be taken seriously, please don't link to Jack Chick.

when i was going through my hardest loneliest time in my life, I drank every word of the evanesance fallen album, it totally related to every deep pain I was feeling, I was thankful the words had Christ in them. the album expresses word of deep loss, despair, blame. Its was good for me at the time for where I was at, I looked for music that understood pain with indecribable words to people who dont know how to express themselves, Linkin park was the same,I was thankful for those bands, but over time i learnt Christ wants us to grow, grow past the pain, the painful words these bands express and get into praise, thankfulness selflesness and loving others, With Praise and Glory to Him with music that doesnt appeal to the flesh, Praise The Lord
