Not interested in unwholesome entertainment.

okay. research brainwave entrainment. a real science. elevated emotional states do mimic drug-like feelings and chemical responses in the brain as well.

In essence, they create their own feel-good god and worship it and deny the God of scripture. False converts.
Which makes me think similar techniques will be used by the Antichrist as a small part of his false signs & wonders to woo followers.

he's already doin it man. i think when it comes closer though, we will see more like real miracles mentioned in scripture and not the stage shows of charlatans we see currently. there is the fatal danger in the continuationists view. they won't know the difference.

This is the real issue.

This is the real issue.
The doctrines and theology backing it is the root of the issue. They should be examined as well. A theologically sound church would never have let that show be put on in the first place.

Many won't, basically due to ignorance of scripture. Then again, so will many cessationists, which believe the gifts will begin manifesting again because of the power of the two witnesses in Revelation. Either way, multitudes of both sides will be fooled.

Hi all,

I'm new here, but I'm quite surprised to find this thread. Although, I've been seeing some news about what Hillsong church supports like gay rights... I gotta admit, I'm not really well-researched about these things.

I love Hillsong music, but we should be aware if a church does things that contradicts some of the Bible's teachings. I guess I will be checking out more stuff on this issue.

Anyway, it's all about God, isn't it? As John said, "He must become greater; I must become less."

I could be wrong, but if the music or anything leads someone to love God and feel His presence, isn't that a good thing? However, if it does not... and we just really start to like a church or a band itself... maybe we should check our hearts.

The bottomline for me is this:
1 John 4:1
"Dear friends, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world."

Bias

It is interesting who supports what group and why.

I have liked the hillsong music to worship the Lord but have been uneasy about their theological content and direction.
They are more show bizz and celebrity.

One young man faked having cancer and wrote a song how he depended on the Lord despite His situation.
That was literal hypocracy, but after it was exposed did they care? No.

There is something seriously flawed about the group and how they operate. As time goes by it will become more a business and less a church.

And those who support the hyper-grace theology will say any criticism is envy and hatred. But the blind support their own.

There will always be people that will fake things in the church. At least the guy fessed up to the lie and asked for forgiveness. Let him that is without sin cast the first stone.

The bigger the church = the more these things will come up just because of the numbers attending.

To take one person's error and then to demonize a whole church group is just "spiritual ignorance gone to seed" and it says a lot about their beliefs and malice towards other groups of Christians that have a different belief from their own. That is just as shameful as the person trying to defraud their own brothers and sisters in the Lord.

Here is a news article about the man that faked his cancer.

Here is the rest of the article.

Preacher with Fake Cancer Dodges Legal Charges For Now

Before the scandal erupted, Guglielmucci was known as a former youth pastor at Planetshakers City Church in Melbourne. The church is a Pentecostal Christian church affiliated with Australian Christian Churches, the Assemblies of God in Australia. His parents founded Edge Church International, also an Assemblies of God church

Brian Houston, pastor at Hillsong Church, also admitted to being "sucked in" to the hoax on his blog earlier this month.

"It was a two year academy award worthy performance as far as I am concerned," he wrote.

But Houston said he never saw a reason to doubt Guglielmucci, who exhibited physical signs of pain during one of Houston's visits to his hotel room.

On his blog, dated Sept. 3, the Hillsong pastor concluded by affirming his faith in Jesus Christ and praying for people who have been hurt by the false story.

Have you taken the time to watch any of the videos exposing their major theological falicies? Or researched what the church believes on your own? They are not being condemned for one man's sin, repentant as it may be. They are being judged rightly for their major theological errors. Christians should not have major theological differences and beliefs. We all share one mind and it is Christ's.

I have watched some of them and it is a bunch of baloney. I listen to sermons from some of them and I do not find anything wrong with them. It's probably because they teach about the grace of Christ and have people like Joseph Prince come to preach there that many people get upset.

I have watched the sermons and the music from Hillsong and my spirit bears witness with it..that's enough for me. No church ahs a "perfect theology"..

The people making those videos have a theological problem with them because it conflicts with their own beliefs and then they take bits of what is said and mix them together to get the desired result they want..it's a very common practice on the internet. I see them all the time.

Agreed..sometimes all churches do some strange things..but that is part of the growth process..I'm sure they are 're-evaluating" their versions of songs now...
