Our Chief of Police is black. And he openly states that the black part of our city eats up the majority of his resources. And that he gets the least cooperation from supposedly upstanding black citizens.

Let me guess, the "black part" of the city is the POOR PART of the city.

The SAME THING can be said of poor WHITE areas in the Appalachians. It's a POVERTY issue not a RACE issue.

The cycle of poverty is very hard to break...because there are so many variables. There's family acculturation, there's income levels, there's marital status, there's education, there's "life shocks"....all of these contribute to poverty.

its not racist to want your rights as a human being. Its not racist to want the police to stop harassing and beating you just for being black. Its not racist to defend yourself against a murderous hate group such as the KKK. The Black Panther Party did many positive things for the black community. But this is conveniently ignored

I'm not trying to be offensive, but the very idea that lynchings only happened during "slave days" (which ended in 1865 mind you) is just ridiculous. The last lynching happened in 1968.....NINETEEN SIXTY EIGHT. Say that once more with me...1968. I was BORN in 1970.

As for black folks being killed by police just for being black, PLENTY of that happened during the Civil Rights Movement. For example, BLOODY SUNDAY...March 7, 1965.

In 2015, William Chapman was killed in a Walmart parking lot. The officer who killed him was charged with murder for killing him.

I am guessing Chapman resisting arrest and being aggressive toward the officer had nothing to do with it then, huh? I am not saying the officer is innocent but if Chapmans actions were different maybe he would be alive today. This is not a case of "just because he was black"

Didn't Gray run when he saw the police? Do you not think his actions had something to do with it? Why even run? He was innocent wasn't he? He had a knife on him that was legal so he wasn't really armed yet no evidence he was "killed because he was black"

It also isn't right for others to assume whites are racist just because they are white. The Black Panthers did do a lot of great things, but unfortunately it became militant like many groups out there.
