Ive heard that even though England has like no gun violence, it still has plenty of violence and murder.
I dont have these statistics, but I mean its not like violence stems from gun ownership alone.

If you remove guns, people find new ways to kill people.

I hate guns, I dont touch guns, I dont like shooting guns. But Im glad that people in the US have them.
Sure like all nations we have crime, but its not like we are living in a sci-fi apocalyptic world where every person can potentially kill you just for your food and I totally reject your view of the UK.

Uk has population of 63 million. In last financial year there were 619 murders. Most places in UK are safe, go to wrong area at night and you may get mugged, plenty of violence when the drunks are kicked out of nightclubs and start fighting with each other, but that's about it.

If we don't do something about the gun problem that will give the government an excuse to turn on us. Look how much the police have militarized all ready in the past 15 years under the excuse of having to keep up with the arsenals of high powered guns.

I dont know if writing this'll do any good, but people need to realize that the US is more than just one nation, it is a nation of nations, and when people are acknowledging that, they, hopefully - but not likely, I'm afraid, will see that states rights means a lot. There is no way of maintaining state rights if the people are disarmed. Oh, you sayin feds and state troopers etc could take care of states rights? Well, that is what most people fails to grasp, the entire point is as little gov intervention as possible...that is what this is about:) So next time you, whom you might be, from where you might be, please educate yourself on American history and culture first, and then we'll talk:) Ok?

We change the government ..we don't give up our rights because we fear the government...that's a reason to keep them, not give them up. And as long as the soldiers and police honor the constitution we will be safe, because they will not obey unlawful commands...but when folks don't respect the constitution ...we are all in trouble

How's that change working for ya? Seems there's change all right, but not the sort you or I would like. Better change the policy towards guns before the violence gets out of control or the government seizes the excuse to make those totalitarian fantasies so many espouse come to fruition. They're all ready gearing up for it. It's a downward spiral, more guns gives the government more excuse to be iron fisted.

Your children are killing each other. Your government is arming itself and setting strategies to crackdown on you. What is it going to take to get even some mediocre gun control policies like raising the age limit, banning assault weapons, decreasing availability of guns, increasing background checks, etc.?

Well we have a system to change ..and the people are clearly stirred up to make real changes ...and my children are not killing anyone nor are they being killed, but are honest and respectful people who have the right to protect themselves. And the idea that the government would come against the people only supports the right to bear arms...its not a reason to disarm ???

All the children of America are your children if you have bound yourself to the Constitution.

The government is going to keep getting more heavy handed the more you let this gun problem get out of control. Implementing gun control policies does not equal disarming. If you don't implement some sort of modest gun control policy though, that might be the only recourse left. It's certainly how the government has gotten away with arming themselves with military grade capabilities, justify conducting certain domestic exercises, and set forth some pretty curious policies.

Why let the criminals continue to have easy access to guns just so the government can have an excuse to come take yours?

Your thinking is backwards...and its that sort of backward thinking that is causing the problems in this nation...people don't know right from wrong and have rejected the principals that made this nation strong and great.

Your thinking is backwards. I look forward to the logical conclusions that will happen if you maintain the status quo on guns. You can all ready see it happening now. Look how the violence is getting out of hand. Look how the government is using it as an excuse to strengthen their hand. It doesn't take much to see where it leads to if it isn't dealt with now.

Yes its has worked to make this nation above all others and to keep freedom here and to defend freedom around the world. What does history teach us about governments that disarm the people? And this nation is still above all others and still folks from every nation want to come here...we have people risking their lives to get here So clearly the evidence is that our constitution has worked and will continue to work if folks obey it and yield to its principals.

Firstly again gun control does not mean disarming. So that's no excuse to not implement some sort of gun control in light of the massive gun violence.

The Constitution is the law of the government, not the law of the people. I am by no means obligated to respect the Constitution. The Constitution offers no freedom at all because it only pertains to the government. Furthermore the Constitution can be changed, and it has many times before. So the argument to allow guns to proliferate wantonly because of the Constitution is a flimsy argument.

Learn the lesson of history indeed. When you have a bunch of violence and you don't take care of that problem it either gets out of control and becomes anarchy or the government will use it as an excuse to act in a tyrannical manner. Ya'll like to talk about the Nazis a lot, but how'd they come to power in the first place? It was because of the violence and poverty in Germany which gave them an excuse to seize the government and then they took the guns away. But first they had the excuse to do it. Look at communist China, period of mass violence and civil war and unrest allowed the communists to take power, and then they took the guns away.

The more the guns proliferate and gun violence increases the more excuse the government has to strengthen its hand.

What? dude your not even making sense?? of course gun control is a restriction of our rights and of course the constitution is the law of the whole land... and that you would suggest that you don't honor it proves your motives are not honorable and you have a lawless attitude. Yes the constitution has made us a great nation and will continue to keep us great if we honor it. Its evident to the honest folks in this nation...but the lawless would pervert our nation as they are trying to do now.
