Poor people? I pick those people up in the church bus every service. No condescending, I'm happy to see them. Church wouldn't be the same without them.
“THOSE people”?! I would not want to be called “one of THOSE poor people”. Look, maybe marginalized people have chips on their shoulders. As a poor person, I know I am more sensitive to language than other people might be. Why don’t you say “They are the people I pick up” rather than “THOSE people”. I remember one time being told that I “did not talk like them” referring to the people in my town. It was meant to be a compliment, but I was majorly offended. Especially by the term “them”.

Anytime anyone uses a phrase like “these people” or “those people” it is a signal that the speaker or writer is racist and stereotyping a whole group of people. The phrases “these people” and “those people” are offensive.
Aww you poor thing, do you have issues looking at context?

the phrase "these people" refer to anyone, no matter what race, religion, sex or sexual orientation who is taking part in this "defamation" and "insult of the American flag and national anthem and the unity they both stand for.

These people are black and those people are white, but they are all Christians. Not racist.

These people are white and those people are black, but they are all Christians. Racist.

I guess it is a matter of perspective.

You as with a few others don't get it because it isn't happening to you. I see that this conversation isn't making any progress. So I will do as I said and leave it be. I should have done so pages back like I started to.
I gave 15 years of my life to my country in the US armed forces. I have seen my brothers and sisters who never made it back hom, trying to defend freedom not only in this nation, but freedom of those over seas who are being oppressed by evil dictators. And hate our way of life.

So do not tell me what or what I have not done.

Just because you do not understand what thge flag and anthem stands for. Does not mean you get to come in and bash people who do.

Most of the players protesting are black, therefore, it seemed as though “those people” may have been describing black people.

Well from what I've seen you're determined to be majorly offended by something, no matter what. Have fun with it. I gotta go to work now.

So, you think there is ever a correct context for using the phrases “those people” or “these people”? I can’t think of a single instance where these phrases are used in a way to understand a person. They’re used to separate yourself from others.

Or maybe "THEY" are doingfthings that seperate themselves from us.

Your being single minded, your yelling at people for protesting they they are doi9ng to divide us, and saying they are perfectly ok to continue to divide the nation.

I was listening to Bob Costas and I thought he had a good Idea about how the players can protest, they should stand and honor the flag and take a knee with a few seconds left before the Anthem finishes.

@WillyT, I had your experience with both black and white young men wanting to be paid for doing little or nothing. I usually fired them within a month. I resorted to not hiring men under 30. I had few problems with white or black young women. They seemed eager to learn and to move up. Attendance was rarely a problem with women.

They would still dishonor the flag. The men and women who gave their lives did not sit at the last minute, they gave it all till the end.

:eek:Do you have any suggestions of how they can protest?
Go to police stations, since that is who they are protesting. Go to the source of the protest. Go to the neighborhoods where race is an issue, and do something thast makes a difference.

The flag and anthem has NOTHING to do with racism or police brutality.

If threw did that, No one would say a word.

I understood what you meant, The anthem is about my sacrifice, Not about racism. So you are the one who does not understand.

I never said the Anthem was about racism, my posts were about the kneeling and some of the reasons WHY they were. Not going back and forth with you on this. There are Veterans who agree with the kneeling. Is their service any less of a scarifice than yours? No
