Neither has anyone other than a few people that like to rip on someone so they can feel better about their own lousy lifes. They love it when a Christian falls. It makes them feel so much more secure while they're living in their sin to point out the sin in others lives.
You do realize you just became what you decry in others there, right?

Further, Christians are called upon to call out those who commit wrong doing from the pulpit. Because scripture tells us God will hold them accountable for eternity.

I enjoy pastor Mark and have learned a lot from him. I wish him well and pray that God see him and his family through this. that being said, he has been involved in a lot of bad situations.

That's just not true, millions all over the world have heard of Mark Driscoll. The Holy Spirit has used his online sermons/books etc. to draw people to Him, flaws and all. His ego is the real issue here, everything else stems from that pride. Also, personally, I think there are more people who almost worship big Christian leaders, so when they fall, their followers have a crisis of faith or whatever. I'm really disappointed and saddened when Christian leaders fall but I'm also reminded that we all need Christ and to find our hope, worth and purpose in Him.

I didn't deserve the attitude. Very poor.
Too sensitive.

My comment was a reflection of my own search for those keywords and how amazing it was to find over 100 thousand results.
I didn't deserve your attitude when I tried to help you out.

Good point in the first part of your remarks especially.
I think we also have to remember that not all who act are actually called. Driscoll could be experiencing all this because God has decided to reveal the wolf who's profited nicely while wearing sheeps clothing. Driscoll made no bones about being obscene, perverse, and a plagiarist.

A man of God doesn't revel in that behavior in the pulpit. But a wolf does.
And now he's taking a six week leave? What's that? Vacation? He makes the mistake of thinking it is his church. Mars Hill is God's church because the people are the church. Not the structure that gives them a place to gather together in.

He's calling himself a teacher now. He's right about that. We err if we don't pay attention to what his behavior and its penalty are teaching us about who we trust as a shepherd.

I don't believe he was always a wolf, but yes, his ego got in the way. You're right though, that a six week break is nowhere near long enough. I think he needs a break of however long it takes the Holy Spirit to humble him and to restore him in Christ. That could be months and months, it could be years. But six weeks isn't enough time.

The snark guilt would be your own.
My post #20 helped out with a link to a Google result bearing over 100 thousand hits in the keyword search, what's wrong with Mark Driscoll.

I'll expect an apology since this is my thread and I don't deserve to be attacked for helping someone.

No, it isn't.

You can expect a lot of things in life, but I guess now is a good time to realize you can't always get what you want. David was asking what started this thread, the news article I linked him to is exactly what Driscoll was replying to when he decided to take a leave. Your response equaled nothing more than a let me google that you jab.
Sorry not sorry.

In all of this, we shouldn't rejoice when Christian leaders fall, but pray for them and support them where possible. If they need time away with God, that should be seen as a very good thing. I certainly don't agree with Mark Driscoll on everything, but he has a lot of really good teachings. We need to be discerning but also loving. More love, guys. More love informed by God's truth.

Here is the article I read yesterday in Christianity Today.

Mark Driscoll Steps Down While Mars Hill Investigates Charges... | Gleanings | ChristianityToday.com

While I may not agree with all of Driscoll's theology, I saw him in an on-line debate with a former prostitute and they debating against Deepak Chopra and some apostate United Methodist minister. He was kind and gracious and between the woman's testimony, Driscoll and a Christian audience, they kindly and lovingly demolished the heathens opinions.

I was very impressed, too bad to hear there is another side, and paying he learns his lesson, like John Piper.

I didn't expect you would apologize. You made a mistake and you then attack in order to defend your right to be wrong.
That's very young.

Nautilus, I think she just likes to create conflict.
Not at all. I don't like punks that make attacks against my character or my posts, and then punk out making an excuse for their juvenile behavior because they're not man enough to admit they were wrong.
The one's that like to create conflict are the punks that troll Christian forums. And they never like it when a people they think are committed to pacifism, aren't.
