Yea ..sounds just like the Jews that beat Jesus and those that beat His followers for telling the truth about Him.

Ro 1:32 Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them.

At no point in the Bible did Jesus ever instruct us to force our beliefs on anyone. This is not the right approach....
" Let me convert you to my religion by immediately offending you"

Jesus and His followers went all over the known world declaring and preaching repentance from sin and unbelief, to all who would listen....and the bible is clear that many will be offended at hearing the truth...so im not sure what point your trying to make?

Mr 16:15 And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.

These preachers did not go there to spread the gospel. They went in a spirit of hatred and intolerance. What would Jesus say to them?...He would say I don't approve of what you are doing but I still love you. If I want extra ketchup at McDonald's I'm gonna ask nicely instead of yelling KETCHUP OR ELSE!!!

Telling sinners to repent of their sin is as much a part of the gospel as the fact that they need a Savior from their sin....how do you know you need a Savior if you wont admit your sin? And besides that these guys are Americans and have free speech and every right to be there...or do you think free speech is only for the wicked?

Apparently, "tolerance" is a one-way street.

http://radio.foxnews.com/toddstarne...rs-brutally-beaten-at-gay-pride-festival.html

Didn´t ONE WOMAN say: "...If I were you I would leave..."?

Although last night my mother, me and one of my brothers wanted a couple to leave the front of our building (where they were drinking alcohol -and probably drugs) one agressive woman "cursed" my mom and me, in similar ways, throwing broken pieces of glass, as long as I tried to protect my brother, from being cut, by his lover.

That incident taught me, a lot, on how MY Christian actitude should be shaped: (Isa 42:2-4)

Mat 12:19 He shall not strive, nor cry aloud; Neither shall any one hear his voice in the streets.
Mat 12:20 A bruised reed shall he not break, And smoking flax shall he not quench, Till he send forth judgment unto victory.

But, comparing both of these cases, what was said -regarding Jesus´ Biblical actitude- it seems to be a safe "alternative" to avoid violent confrontations, particularly when, the law arrives, hurting things might have happened.

A piece of me: I got a tiny cut, on the chin.

Freedom of speech doesn't mean you have to harrass people. What if I went to Memphis yelling the N word..then wonder why I get beat up for my freedom if speach.

Of course it means you have the right to say things that might offend others...and since when is speaking biblical truth the same as making a racial slur?

It has some similarity at racial problems... However, different colors (their skin color) have a massive public agreement on what they want: Public acceptance of lesbianism and sodomy.

Hmmm I wonder how many people have been saved by having repent and burn signs waved in their face. Is it that effective of a ministry?

It's a shame it went like that.
I never understood the use of signs though, why can't we go and talk to people, get to know them, understand them and be personable? Holding a huge sign like that is quite imposing, obnoxious and just trying to get people to believe on your own strength and through the flesh. I mean, Jesus never went around just holding signs up telling people repent or burn, He actually engaged with people.
I agree with this. I'm sure the preachers' hearts were in the right place and they certainly did not deserve to be beat up, however I'm not sure if this is the best way to preach the Gospel. It seems like it tends to harden people's hearts more.

What does the bible say?

Jude 1:22 And of some have compassion, making a difference:
23 And others save with fear, pulling them out of the fire; hating even the garment spotted by the flesh.

Hi Skipp. Some scholars believe the greatest miracle in the OT was Jonah saying 40 days and you're all toast. THEN the entire city, from the King on down, actually DID admit their sin and repent, AND God spared them!
I agree for the very most part you are correct and few will respond to that type of ministry, but I know God can use anything or anyone.

Its amazing how some can call what is evil...good and what is good, they call evil.

The people that beat the street preachers are going to have to answer to God for their actions, they are guilty of dong so. The point that is being missed in all of this is the fact that the street preachers were warned for OVER 5 MINUTES and LONGER that the heavy set guy was going to do it if they did not leave. And the gal in the striped was getting between the heavy set guy and the guy in the white tee with the sign and you could see he was getting more and more agitated. My point is and was is that this could have been prevented BEFORE it ever got to the point of the street being beaten. The people they were talking to clearly were not receptive to the gospel at that point and there is a point where we are to walk away.

People are responsible for their actions,we are not animals. Actually Im seeing this all over the country, this crazy anger, gay or straight people. Its like we've gone mad. People are acting like animals and I think the media is stoking the fires.

You need to read what John the Baptist said to the King. He was beheaded for his stand.

So, go preach that message to all the rioters in Baltimore, Missouri, New York and other places that have been exercising their right to free speech as they burned and looted..............see how you fare with them...........

Why Memphis? Would such an act as you describe not be just as offensive in any other City in the US? And since when does getting beat up by the intolerant equate to not having the right to exercise free speech?

I agree with Dude here, though, Kayla. J the B wasn't trying to convert Herod. He'd given up on that a long time before. But he continued to harangue the leader of the Jewish people in Galilee for behaving in an adulterous manner without a second thought about it..
