The greater cause here is of revolution against tyrannical governments. This was a call to awareness of such.
It's not about Islam.

In some of these struggles it's Muslim v Muslim for the cause of revolution.
Although tyrant was bad, at least from the Christians' rights perspective, the tyrants are better than any sharia leader with sharia law. Because tyrant doesn't really care about religion, they just want to make money, so they gain power as they wish. (Stating from both experience and comparative study of some countries)
