not to derail the thread, but it seems the only difference between Jehovah Witnesses and other Christian denominations is it they do not recognize the deity of Jesus Christ. however nowhere in the Bible do you see Jesus Christ claimed divinity or ask to be worshipped. he always points to God the Father

Where in the bible does it specifically say to not let JW's into our houses?
2Jo 1:10 ¶ If there come any unto you, and bring not this doctrine, receive him not into your house, neither bid him God speed:
11 For he that biddeth him God speed is partaker of his evil deeds.

Well that's just heresy and makes you a non-Christian.

I believe Mitspa is referring to 1st Corinthians 5:11. In specific context of the chapter it is referring to church discipline in which an immoral brother is being expelled from the body, but many theologians would say that based on the language in verse 9 and 10 which refers to a prior unrecorded letter that it refers to ANY person who claims to be a brother that is apostate.

**edit: realizes that Mitspa already answered with the text from 2nd John

So you think you can deny that Christ is Lord God on a Christian forum ..and think that someone will not respond to your heresy? No I think you said that to get a response and to insult the faith of the folks on this forum.

You're twisting my words. I never said Jesus isnt God. I said he never CLAIMS divinity or asks to be worshipped.... So I can see how some could interpret it differently.

You may not get along with Mitspa, thats your business. But he wasn't wrong. What you said was against what the Bible teaches. Jesus said whoever has seen me has seen the Father. To claim Christ isn't divine is heresy.

Jesus and God are One. Did God asked to be worshiped? Yes. Does God claim to be divine? Yes. What God is so is Christ. They are the same.

Matt 14

Then Peter got down out of the boat, walked on the water and came toward Jesus. 30 But when he saw the wind, he was afraid and, beginning to sink, cried out, “Lord, save me!”
31 Immediately Jesus reached out his hand and caught him. “You of little faith,”he said, “why did you doubt?”
32 And when they climbed into the boat, the wind died down. 33 Then those who were in the boat worshiped him, saying, “Truly you are the Son of God.”

Jesus never stopped them and said "no dont worship me.

Matt 28

So the women hurried away from the tomb, afraid yet filled with joy, and ran to tell his disciples. 9 Suddenly Jesus met them. “Greetings,” he said. They came to him, clasped his feet and worshiped him. 10 Then Jesus said to them,“Do not be afraid. Go and tell my brothers to go to Galilee; there they will see me.”

Again Jesus accepted their worship. Never corrected them. Jesus said before Abraham "I AM" only God could say that. He claimed to heal and forgive sins.Only God could do that. Why do you think he was crucified? For blasphemy,in claiming to be God. What you are saying is heresy plain and simple.

Quote ". I said he never CLAIMS divinity or asks to be worshipped...." # 147

Jesus DID claim to be God and accepted worship.

let me be crystal clear here so there is no misunderstanding....I happen to believe the Trinity but some denominations do not because they interpret the scripture differently....I'm not interested in opinions, show me any scripture anywhere where Jesus claims to be God.....the problem is that some of you are so pompous and self righteous that you circle around like buzzards just waiting to attack someone's character because they disagree with you

I could care less if you disagree with me. I care what the Bible says and I will defend it.You are talking heresy. And you'll soon find yourself banned if you continue.

Matthew says ..
.And Jesus said, I am: and ye shall see the Son of man sitting on the right hand of power, and coming in the clouds of heaven. 63Then the high priest rent his clothes, and saith, What need we any further witnesses? 64Ye have heard the blasphemy: what think ye? And they all condemned him to be guilty of death. 65And some began to spit on him, and to cover his face, and to buffet him, and to say unto him, Prophesy: and the servants did strike him with the palms of their hands.

Why did the priest rend his clothes?! Because Jesus was using OT language, that the Jews well knew, claiming to be God. The "Son of Man" comes from Daniel. Seated at the right hand comes from Psalms and I AM is from Exodus. The high priests knew he was claiming to be God.

John 5 :18

For this reason they tried all the more to kill him; not only was he breaking the Sabbath, but he was even calling God his own Father, making himself equal with God.

John 10: 30.... I and the Father are one.”
31 Again his Jewish opponents picked up stones to stone him, 32 but Jesus said to them, “I have shown you many good works from the Father. For which of these do you stone me?”
33 “We are not stoning you for any good work,” they replied, “but for blasphemy, because you, a mere man, claim to be God.”

Mark...
Caiaphas the high priest asked Him: “‘Are you the Christ, the Son of the Blessed One?’ ‘I am,’ said Jesus

I AM, right out of Jesus own mouth! He was crucified for that answer.

He forgave sins and healed people, which only God can do. Thats why the high priests wanted to stone Him.

So your opinion doesnt matter. Its right there in the Word.Look it up. And btw you and Mitspa may have a running insult back and forth going but you are speaking to a lady here.So I'd appreciate if you'd watch your tone and be a little more respectful. I speak for myself. You dont know me so to call me self righteous is just childish.I dont care who agrees with me, i care what the Bible says.Apparently you either dont care or dont know what it says.

You are saying OTHERS believe that? Not YOU? Once again, not casting stones. Christs divinity is the foundation of Christianity. If you or they dont believe that it is heresy. Others may well believe that, they are wrong. If you are saying you dont Im very glad to hear it.But it sure did sound like you were saying thats your belief. If its not I do apologize.

Actually, the JWs' NWT says in John 1 that Jesus is a god. They believe that John 1:1 supports their position that Jesus is a distinct god from the true God... a different kind of god from the God whom he was with.

the new covenant, asked a gentile to believe in jesus christ. (acts 10)

please also note, that conelious believed there was a god before being told to send for peter. (ie how to get in contact with the true god) was show when peter turn up. at his home etc.

34 So Peter opened his mouth and said: "Truly I understand that God shows no partiality,35 but in every nation anyone who fears him and does what is right is acceptable to him.36 As for the word that he sent to Israel, preaching good news of peace through Jesus Christ (he is Lord of all),37 you yourselves know what happened throughout all Judea, beginning from Galilee after the baptism that John proclaimed:38 how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power. He went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with him.39 And we are witnesses of all that he did both in the country of the Jews and in Jerusalem. They put him to death by hanging him on a tree,40 but God raised him on the third day and made him to appear,41 not to all the people but to us who had been chosen by God as witnesses, who ate and drank with him after he rose from the dead.42 And he commanded us to preach to the people and to testify that he is the one appointed by God to be judge of the living and the dead.43 To him all the prophets bear witness that everyone who believes in him receives forgiveness of sins through his name."

The Holy Spirit Falls on the Gentiles
44 While Peter was still saying these things, the Holy Spirit fell on all who heard the word.45 And the believers from among the circumcised who had come with Peter were amazed, because the gift of the Holy Spirit was poured out even on the Gentiles.

this is at the heart of both jews and gentile christains (believing in jesus christ conquered death)

16 "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.John 3

so in simple terms, believing in god, is one thing, believing in a god through jesus christ, is the new covenant message to both jews and gentile. in the christian bible. etc.
