Your entitled to your opinion. However un-Historical it may be. As for "white guilt?" That little mind trip was promoted by the socialist liberals starting in the early 70's........Liberals have been pushing this particular ideology for decades, yet it only seems to cause far more harm than good. As with the majority of their ideologies, "white guilt" is in the eye of the socialist liberal" only.

Again, slavery was "made" the "central issue" by President Lincoln for the reason I stated prior, and to rally support for the war cause against the South. You can continue to profess that there were no "real" differences in ideology concerning self Government, States Rights between the States, but you do so in ignorance of the truth.

One of the most powerful statement President Lincoln made, and one of the most effective in bringing the issue of slavery to the forefront of the War effort was:

I agree the guilt trip does no good. For one, none of us born then, none of us owned slaves, none of us seceded from America and attacked it. For two, that whole guilt trip is now how we have what is known as Southern Revisionism which serves to try to whitewash the importance of slavery in US history as well as casts false blame on America for the Civil War.

Everyone knows South Carolina was the first state to secede. Lol, they fly that dixie flag over their government building even still today for that very reason. When South Carolina seceded their central reason was "States' Rights." The focal "States' right" that they cited was slavery.

Some say Abe Lincoln's election was a major factor in Southern secession. Well why was Lincoln's election such a contentious issue at that time? Lincoln's election was a controversy of old because he threatened to block slavery's expansion, and ultimately to abolish it entirely. Once again the hot button issue of that time was slavery.

This is the direct chain of events that led to the US Civl War. It is not unhistorical.

War <--- Attack on Fort Sumter <--- Southern Secession <---- Various disagreements pertaining to slavery.

In my opinion the major sin is the denial of the South represented by this ludicrous attempt to ban of the confederate flag...again. Do the pc folks really believe that putting a ban on Southern Heritage will make the South go away? Think again...why dont all yall just respect that there are other ways than the PC way, which is so highly regarded by some fine haired people...we dont need no pc folks tellin us how to...just sayin...sorry
