Please. Someone tell me how the Temple Mount has any meaning for Christians. Anything will do. Just toss it out there
Some people (including myself) watch developments on it due to the prophecy in the book of Daniel regarding the rebuilding of the temple. Beyond that I am not aware of the temple itself holding any particular special meaning for Christians either.

It holds my interest, even though I believe us Christians will be gone by the time the antichrist enters the third temple proclaiming himself as God. In order for that future temple to be built Islam will have to relinquish control of the Temple Mount and in order for that to happen it looks like much blood will first be spilt.
So it's importance is it is an indicator of how close we are to the coming tribulation. (Tossed)

I'm not sure it is necessary for Islam to abandon their claim to the Temple Mount.

Revelation 11, NASB
1 Then there was given me a measuring rod like a staff; and someone said, "Get up and measure the temple of God and the altar, and those who worship in it.
2 "Leave out the court which is outside the temple and do not measure it, for it has been given to the nations; and they will tread under foot the holy city for forty-two months.

That emboldened portion of v. 2 indicates to me that the Outer Court, that of the Gentiles, is unimportant to God in His coming Kingdom reign through Christ on Earth. In other words, let the Dome of the Rock stand for now. It won't exist in the coming Kingdom.

Still, even today non Muslim prayers aren't allowed on the Mount and it would take either a treaty or war for the Jews to begin building anywhere on the Mount.

Some groups in Israel are expecting the situation to change eventually, though I don't know their views on how. They already have the priests garments, all kinds of accessories made out of pure gold, even the alter made. Everything they need for the inside of the temple is already made and standing by. This isn't a very recent development though. They have had most of these things for at least a couple of years.

As far as I can see NOTHING directly, but anything Israel does to antagonise the Islamic world puts the last days scenario
that much closer to fulfillment

There is no sign of the Red Cow that is essential for sacrifices. Its been extinct for around 2000 years. The land is considered ritually unclean so any Priesthood would have to perform the temple duties on stilts. That would be an interesting sight to see.

It's more like "anything Israel does...antagonizes the Islamic world".

And what does the Revelation say about that?

I don't think it has much to say about how the tension is resolved in human terms, do you?
Oops, my bad. I didn't intend to say "Revelation" there, but "prophecy."

Daniel 9 NASB
27 "And he will make a firm covenant with the many for one week, but in the middle of the week he will put a stop to sacrifice and grain offering; and on the wing of abominations will come one who makes desolate, even until a complete destruction, one that is decreed, is poured out on the one who makes desolate."

The signing of the "firm covenant" or treaty is the beginning of the Tribulation.

yes, and in order for the sacrifices v.27 there needs be a Temple.

Another reason for the postings...
Unrest roils Jerusalem, West Bank after terror attack | The Times of Israel

The escalation of violence — which followed another fatal terror attack Thursday night in which an Israeli mother and father were shot dead in their car in the West Bank — underlined fears that Israel may be facing a third major Palestinian uprising, prompted in part by tensions over the status of the disputed Temple Mount holy site.

Your right, red heifer ashes had slipped my mind. They aren't extinct to the best of my knowledge (are you sure about that? I have seen photos of them), there is a project involving raising a herd of them as well.

I don't think they can just buy one from out of the country and bring it in. It has to be blemish free and there are all other kinds of requirements for it that Im not familiar with.

Personally, I think a new Temple gets built before this treaty, but it is possible the treaty makes construction possible, also. The bottom line is as I wrote earlier, that the Dome doesn't need to go in order for the Temple to be built. That treaty could potentially force the Jewish community to accept that they can't build on the Temple Mount without protecting the integrity of the Dome, and force the Muslims to accept the Jewish presence without interference. I can't really see that happening, but with God, anything is possible.

I remember seeing something about a Farmer trying to breed one a few years ago. It started out Red but produced a few white hairs later.

Yep, even one white hair and it's a no go. Even if you have a herd of Red Angus I don't think one without any spots at all is very common.

IMHO, I don't have much longer on this Earth, but I think that I will live to see the Mosque removed in my lifetime.
You may well be right but I reckon it will take another war to do it. The way the news is going that could happen very soon.
As for not having long I can understand your view. I am not far behind you.

Im not sure that even a pure Red Angus will fir the bill. To my very limited knowledge the Heifer used was a particular breed that no longer exists. Of course they could use a Red Angus as a substitute, after all they have been using Prayer as a substitute for the Temple for 2000 years or so.
