First of all, the OP didn't say it was scripture, just that it was a favorite quote.
Second of all, to say that it is a 'fairytale' shows that you know little about the heart of God. A father protects his daughter, is the one that the man should go to in order to marry her, and should teach her her value. Would you expect anything less from our Heavenly Father?
To me, any person that dismisses this quote has no right to my heart. The Bible says that we are to love Christ above father and mother and spouse and friends and children...in other words, to love Him above ALL others. This is part of what it means to hide your heart within His.
..
“Set your mind on things above, not on the things that are on earth. For you have died and
your life is hidden with Christ in God.” Col. 3:2-3
This quest for a hidden heart in Christ results in a set apart lifestyle that is lived differently than those who are in the world. We don’t (shouldn’t) act, dress, talk, or behave like the world, because we don’t seek the things the world seeks. We seek that which is above – that is Jesus our Lord and the virtues He bestows.
Our hearts seek no one else for the happiness we find in Jesus. And if it be His will, He blesses us with an earthly man who can represent to us Christ Himself in many ways. For the woman whose heart is truly hidden in Christ is favored to receive a man seeking after God’s heart in all his ways – including finding her. (

My heart belongs solely to Christ Jesus. It is in Him that I find all my value, worth, purpose, direction, and all else that I need. My heart is planted in His, joined to His, and that will never ever change. No man on earth is worth losing my beloved Jesus.
