Warning: This is not a serious thread. :p

Scenario: You are getting married and you are a weirdo. (We all know you are weird, don't bother denying it.) What sort of outrageous and trivial things would you put in your prenup?

Example: Gypsy has already admitted that she'd like a bell pepper clause.

She can never cheer against the Seattle Seahawks, Seattle Mariners, Cleveland Cavaliers, or Arkansas Razorbacks. Failure to fulfill said conditions means I do not have to do dishes or laundry for an entire year.

I'm so weird I don't even know what a prenuptial is. And no, I'm not going to Google it. I want to hear what my brothers and sisters in Christ have to say. :)

It's a decisions made based in the root emotion being fear.
Some people live in that emotion all their life and never embrace Christ enough to realize there is no fear in Christ.
I don't know a reason anyone would get married if they are basing their relationship on the wrong emotion and reasoning except for...
convenience.

Prenup is an encouragement for the woman to stay godly in the relationship...

Just a joke....

If you are referring to me, I was not deceiving... If you believe I was, I am sorry.

Nah T_Laurich ur fine Bro.
No judgments here.
Although it's disappointing to see Good Christian brothers and sisters who I value and respect engaging in what would appear to be worldly-like humor.
I mean yes we may feel as though we all know one another here as family but even then, as a light to the world I rather encourage one another to practice the light of the Lord with our brothers and sisters first and foremost.
For example, we shouldn't just be a light to the world yet engage in what may be coarse joking with someone that knows us well just because we feel comfortable with them.
I apologize for ruining anybodies fun especially you Grace, cuz I know you was just playin.

It's more that when I see things such prenups entering Christian communities and midsets, its just another avenue of the world creeping in.
Perhaps joking about it is ones way of dealing with an uncomfortable subject which I can relate to and understand, although the marriage covenant is a sacred thing to God as it mirrors his covenant and relationship with us as his church.
Please don't mock that, especially if one has never been married and doesn't understand all that is involved from the spiritual aspect.

But ya see, a prenup is more planning ones divorce based on what if scenarios rooted in fear of giving in to the enemy.
what if this and what if that.
More like planning for failure rather than success.

When one gets married it should be for the reason of living in the moment of enjoying one anothers company, planning nice vacations for the future if anything rather than planning who get's what in the event a Rship dissolves.
Any fear can manifest itself through actions to predestine the unwanted outcome.

It's saddening to me when I see worldy joking is given a chance to creep into our lives as if having to feel like we must seek some form of entertainment away from God.
Especially terms like Jesus juking as if now Jesus is a derogatory term and one should be able to remove Christ from any part of their life in order to have "fun."
Jesus would have been the biggest Jesus juker of them all, so go ahead and mock.
But I hold to my own convictions.

I pray that we can look at the examples of those we read about in God's Holy Word to pattern our lives after and see we never read about Jesus and the Apostles sitting around the campfire telling jokes, or playing pull my finger.
Wit is good, humor is good, yet sarcasm isn't quite as good since it may be funny seeing it on TV or happening to others, but not when it's happening to you right?
As humans in the flesh our humor and what we find funny or entertaining can be vastly different from the spirit.
Perhaps look at God's humor to be able to understand.

Sorry if I upset anybody.

Perhaps if I just reworded this in a way that might be less objectionable and probably more accurate anyway...

What sort of outrageous and trivial things would you feel an urge to exact a promise from your future spouse about?

first of all, no one here is actually discussing prenups, in a serious way, or at least for the purpose they were intended.

second, i find it sort of scripturally lacking that you assume that prenups are only a negative thing, and counter to God's purposes. in chat tonight, which is where the genesis for this thread sprung from, i gave more than one example of how i imagined a prenup could be used to actually work to keep a couple married, by clearly outlining efforts to be made in the pursuit of salvaging a flailing marriage.

so please do not assume that a prenup is only a negative, worldly thing, and that by us making purely joking "prenup clauses", such as i also offered, "no cooking bell peppers" is an attack on God or His word.

no one is mocking you, but i would encourage you to understand better how detrimental jesus juking can be.

often, people post scripture (lacking proper context or even relevant use). in some cases, i consider it as an abuse of holy scripture, words that have precious and sacred meaning to me.

i don't see scripture as a stick ever to be used to club someone over the head with, or intended for the judgment or even what sometimes comes off as false piety. i am not accusing you of those things, necessarily, but i think before you attack the term jesus juke, you should understand better why it is offensive to some.

here's an article with some good examples of why it's so unacceptable.

Ummmm fun topic turned serious on the first page... That should be against the rules...

I honestly think the reason for the confusion and fighting is that the singles forum can very well become a secret society at times, and when others stumble in without prier knowledge to the topic it creates a divide...

That, and probably that people have different views of what a "prenup" is. To me, at least in this sense, it's just an agreement on how a marriage should be carried out, made in advance. Which is kind of a wise thing to do. If someone else were to think of it in light of premeditated divorce and fighting over property, well, that's a whole 'nother thing.
