were you planning on joining us? : D if so, i don't have you on the list.

if not, i hope you do.
Thanks but I'd rather not study a book on love because for me that would be like a disabled person studying a book on how to be a fighter pilot.. prolly not gonna happen.

zeroturbulence, sorry but that sounds a little discriminatory to me. Not ALL disabled persons are confined to bed or a wheelchair!! Some disabilities are invisible. I have epilepsy, yet very rarely have people outside my family seen me have a seizure. There's nothing wrong with someone who's disabled reading a book on how to be a fighter pilot. :) I wanna be a forensic scientist--I know it's never gonna happen, but that wouldnt stop me from reading books on how to become one. :)

Yup, discriminating against the disabled.. that is EXACTLY what I meant by that. Thanks for noticing.

And just for the record.. the one true best friend I ever had in my life had epilepsy and I was with him many times when he had seizures.. sometimes I was the only one with him! It eventually led to his death when he decided to go swimming one day without supervision. Thanks for judging. Have a nice day!

zeroturbulence, I'm sorry about your friend, but that was'nt your fault. And I was not judging, I was simply pointing out that it sounded a little discriminatory, but I'm sure that was not how for you meant for it to come across. There's no reason to get defensive about it.

well. if you are excluding yourself because you're of the impression this is a book about romantic relationships, that would be a shame.

i kind of wish this book had a different title, because i don't think it adequately describes the book.

i would contend that love is a main theme in the bible, and the love referenced by the title and subject of the book is applicable to all christians. i would actually say this book addresses our walk with God, and trusting Him, and growing our faith than anything else.

if your decision to exclude yourself was based upon the subject matter, i would direct you to this post, which contains a link to the PDF overview of the book, amazon reviews, and additional info available on the authors' web site.

however, if you just don't want to participate, that's fine too. : )

Did you just judge a book by its cover? :p

I'm sorry that you lost your best friend. You sound like a great friend. But I would avoid trying to shame people who contest you a bit by pulling a tragedy out like this as if they were somehow responsible for it. That wasn't at all relevant to this conversation and was really unfair.

At any rate, I do hope you at least give the book study a shot.

Ok so now I was somehow saying that she was in some way responsible for my friend's death?

How about everyone do this thread a huge favor and pretend none of this ever happened so we can move on..

Thanks!

Oh wait... *checks thread topic*

Sorry, this isn't the stream of consciousness thread.

The new topic is... hmm... a book called "When ye fast" by Joy Haney.

I understand the intention probably wasn't there, but sometimes our words serve functions that we don't intend them to. I just felt that it needed to be said :)
