My favorite decade that I personally enjoyed was the 90's. GREAT music and computers and home videos existed... but things weren't so high-tech that kids forgot how to be kids yet. Life was simpler for the 90's kid than it is now. There is more pressure to grow up quickly and stop playing with toys sooner in this decade. And kids don't know what real rock music is anymore. =(

I also think it would have been nice to grow up in the 80's. Some good music there too! ;)

Any decades earlier than the 80's creep me out............ especially the 50's-ish era...*shudder*... but I guess they could have been historically interesting in their own way.

I feel the same way. I'm a 90's kid, and I feel that I got a good balance of technology (Nano Pets and some computer games like Rollercoaster Tycoon...those were the days! :p ) but I also knew how to play outside and use my imagination.

Now it seems kids are expected to grow up fast, but then once they're older they're expected to stay as young/youthful as possible for as long as possible. Oh, society.

Oooh I used to have a nano baby, lol.
And did you notice that playgrounds are way more wimpy now days too??

I think they banned see-saws and merry-go-rounds and high jungle gyms in my state now...and those old fun castles at most chain burger kings. They've all gotten torn down and replaced with lame ones. 20 years ago, you'd see big kids still playing on playgrounds.
Now days, they are so unchallenging that no one over 7 finds them fun anymore. They're too baby-proofed. It's like they want kids to outgrow them really young or something. =/

Why must the playgrounds now me designed by a Team of lawyers and a developmental psychologist?
Back in my day the playgrounds were rugged things with old firetrucks permanently installed and castles made out of used rail road ties and 1960's leftovers in the form of big steel rockets. We even used to have this one slide that was Three Stories Tall and made from used oilfield iron, it was a straight shot down and faster than a rumor! Dioxins, lead paint, & splinters Built Moral Fiber!
