I WAS! :D

I was born near the tail end of it, though (96).
Rugrats, Are You Afraid of the Dark, The X-Files, Frasier, Third Rock, All That... all good shows. Then came the reality shows. Kill me now.

Yes, this. I was just thinking yesterday how much I can't stand reality TV shows. Or, should I say, "reality" shows. There are a few I tolerate, but even channels that shouldn't have them, have them, such as Animal Planet and the History channel.

I watched a couple episodes of The Hills when I was in college, and I could see right through all the specific editing to make things look a certain way. Killed a couple of my brain cells, I'm sure.

My kids hate watching any sort of reality show with me because I am constantly saying things like, "Oooohhhh, THAT wasn't staged at ALL..." or "Wow, no one scripted THAT did they??" Yeah, I'm a cynic. But I know people who on set for some shows (Duck Dynasty) and people who've been featured in shows (Nanny 911) and soooo much of it is fake. Ugh.

Not that I'd want to watch even if it was real. I hate drama. Especially exploited drama. :(

Yeah, compare the first season of Gordon Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmares to the Rest of the series.

It started off as a great concept.

Then it became a mushy feel good staged nonsensical show that had more in common with the Fattest Loser than it did with its first season.

"Gramma! Please tell us how you and pawpaw met!"

"Well, whippersnappers, one day I was buying some stuff in the grocery store, when he just sort of got hold of me. Literally! As in, he grabbed my arm and said 'You are the one!' I was a little skeptical at first, so I just walked away and kept on shopping without saying a word. Finally he was able to convince me to go out with him and give him my phone number. I can't say I really felt compatible with him, pretty much every time he opened his mouth I wanted to choke the daylights out of him. I thought maybe this was a sign that we shouldn't be together, but he got angry and assured me otherwise, so I figured he was right. Then he sent me 72 text messages before I even woke up and saw them! My heart melted. I knew I could change him to by the man I always wanted."

"Wow! That's awesome! How did he propose to you?"

"He poisoned my cat out of jealousy and sent me flowers and a ring as a condolence! He risked jail time for me. We've been happy together ever since!"

No but seriously, any lady who might be wondering why daddy always tried to intimidate the guys you hung out with, this is why... these people do exist and a little fear of an outside force can be a very good thing.

Don't be tooo opinionated. And, I am not saying you shouldn't have opinions. You should. But, keep them uncomplicated and unconvicting and certainly don't be vindictive in your belief of things like views of healthcare, sequestration, you know, politics. In fact, as much as it is up to you, leave politics out of the conversation.

Just talk about things that are simple and fun and keep from arguing with the other person, but, if you do want to argue, then, that's a PRETTY GOOD idea that that person is not right for you. Now, arguments can be good too IF you BOTH end them constructively, as everyone has opinions on things, that's human nature. Movies, music, etc. But, unless you really strongly don't like the person and want to have a simple way to let them know you are not interested, then, don't make a big deal about a music group they like that you HATE . The Lord leads. :)

Now, Duck Dynasty is a good show, in my opinion. And they have AWESOME values. :) But not everyone is gonna like them...

I love drama but the less scripted TV, the story-driven variety (not reality TV).
