The worst thing I've ever heard about the fact I'm still single at my age was:

"You're still single at 38? Ewwwwwwwwwwww, get away from me, you loser!!!"

I wish my mom would stop saying that to me.

Your mum says that to you? That's horrible. Parents (no matter their age) are meant to build up their children, not tear them down; help them to value themselves, not degrade them. I'm so sorry to hear that, mate.

That's okay Tintin. For revenge, I put an extra-strength laxative in her coffee this morning, and she's been in the bathroom ever since!!!

(Tintin, I was just kidding about what my mother said to me, but I appreciate your concern!).

Actually Seoulsearch, NukePooch and I don't use cream to get rid of our wrinkles, we use a Limited Edition Model W.B.G. Sand Blaster by Black N' Decker, which comes with special sand paper that has Brad Pitt's facial impression imbedded into it.
Allow me to educate you about abrasive cleaning.

This is a sand blaster

that uses loose sand or other media
as an abrasive

1. People assume that you are divorced/widowed. "What?? 38 and never married? How is that possible?"

2. You must be ridiculously picky/unattainable standards/Unicorn Hunter. (See question above.)

3. You cannot be a virgin and be as old as you are. (Living proof right here.)

These are only a few of the questions/assumptions I get bombarded with on a daily basis. Anyone get any others that you don't mind sharing?

Ill add number 4,*i have had this pertained to me*

I wonder if he is gay..

I'm attending a new church, and I'm just waiting for the inevitable "So, are you married?" conversation from some of the well-meaning ladies of the church. This will invariably be followed by the "well, my next-door neighbor's cousin's sister's dog's playmate's owner's brother has a lady pen pal who is flying in from Chile next week, we told her all about you, we think you'd be perfect for each other" conversation. ~rolls eyes~ Oh, man, I just LOVE that one...

I've actually had women chase me down in the parking lot to try and sell me on someone they hardly know...and a Mom who tried to get me to date her daughter while we were standing in the Walmart checkout line...she said I must be a nice guy based on what I had in my basket...

the joy of being single and "older".. LOL!

I mostly hear "no way! you're too pretty to be single!"
but I am..?!
I just take it as a compliment :D

Nike, I NEVER joke about my prettiness!!! The Gift of Gorgeousness should be treasured, not used as part of a comedy routine for a couple of cheap laughs!!!

P.S. Is anyone laughing yet??? Please laugh! I lost my good looks a decade ago, and now my sense of humor is all I have left going for me!!!

I've had people give me the classic open mouth stare when I say I'm single, a virgin, never date, never had a boyfriend (uh, not all in the same conversation... and not with people I've just met, especially the virgin thing). Some say, "Really? But you're so hot!", "Men don't know what they want and they're crazy", "Ah, too busy having fun?" and my favourite "Don't worry. It'll happen someday" accompanied by a pat on the shoulder and a sympathetic smile as if I am suffering in the state I'm in.

I don't date because I'm picky. I want a man who is a man, not a boy, and who loves Jesus with all his heart and not a skirt chasing lunatic who has "hail Satan" tattooed on his forehead an whose idea of fun is sitting on the computer playing WoW all night with cheeto fingers. If that is considered picky then by all means slap that label on me and send me on my way.

I'm not "old" but I'll never be a young bride and I have no prospects right now so I kind of picture myself marrying in my 30's sometime (if I marry at all).

Pretty people like you and I are not narcissistic, Nike. We are just brutally honest and we "Keep It Real" about our undeniable good looks.

So no, we are not narcissistic - we may be conceited, vain, and have inflated egos, but we are definitely not narcissistic.

Wait, what does narcissistic mean again??? Oh nevermind, I'm going to go look in a mirror now!!!

What if the tattoo says "Hail Satin" - I got that phrase tattooed on my forehead the night after I slept in satin sheets for the first.

Those things are sooooooooooooo comfy!!!

Oh, well in THAT case exceptions can be made! You will, however, come to regret that tattoo in time.

You know what I think...and this is just my personal speculation from what I've noticed in real life....I think that attractive women tend to attract all the vain, immature man-boys and the less attractive women seem to attract the ones who are more like what you say you want (mature and not a skirt-chasing lunatic). I don't really have a point here, sorry. I just think its interesting.
