There is so much pressure in our culture to look a certain way and act a certain way. But beauty is subjective.

So what do you find attractive in the opposite gender that doesn't fall into line with the world's standard?

For instance, men with glasses are cute in my book. A certain amount of awkwardness can also be pretty charming.

A man that can assert and express himself without regard how others view him in my opinion is totally attractive. (Also, if he looked like the man below then I would have to marry him; immediately) ;p

I am completely with you on that one :) I have always found personality to make the man much more than looks. My mom always thought I was crazy when I was attracted to the goofy, funny character in a movie rather than the main, handsome, dreamy guy. Haha....but then, I just love laughter, so any guy who can make me laugh is alright. Although, looking my Antonio Banderas (actor) would be a bonus, if you know who he is.

In addition to being righteous in heart, graceful in conduct, and humourous in spirit, I've always desired to find a young woman who writes letters, is keen to kneel beside me in prayer, and would be willing to homeschool our children.

And it's increasingly difficult to find to obtain those latter three...

(I was doing great until the Antonio Banderas thing...now all I can think about is the tango he did in the movie where he portrayed a true life award winning teacher.. *sigh*.....soooooooo...anyway...)

Things I find attractive:
the right glasses
graying hair
no hair
wit/humor
compassion
healthy...not obsessed with muscle
a confident walk...head up, shoulders squared, looking people in the eye

pssst...great to see you in the forums, Crimson Lark! :)

Someone who is a strong enough person to not be dependent on our relationship, and she must not take herself too seriously. At the same time these girls intimidate me and I find them incredibly hard to talk to (sometimes).

It doesn't matter how much the world says playboys are cool...they are not in my list. Bad boys aren't cool or ''mysterious'' either, they are just immature jerks. Too much muscle is not attractive to me, please don't try to look like Rambo. I don't believe a nice car or a Harley Davidson replaces a man's personality. I think some degree of nerdiness and geekiness is attractive in a man. I seriously don't believe that a guy loses his man card for expressing affection to puppies and babies unless he is crying while he holds them.

I tend to prefer those who look like they have no blood in them?

admittedly from a small Colorado mountain town, but:

heavy hiking boots
blue jeans that scream they were made to be worn on the trail, not to a poodle show
an orange and brown flannel shirt
some amber beads
all complimenting her titan colored hair

knows her Bible
just as likely to gut you as a buffalo.....

dreamssssss, dream, dream, dream ......

I definitely tend to lean towards more "manly" men. You know, the mountain man type. Hunting, camping, fishing, mountain climbing, not afraid to step up and fight for those who can't stand up for themselves. Only, minus the hillbilly, southern twang, tobacco chewing, teeth missing, grossness that lives where I do. >_< Know what I mean?

Hmm.....also, a man who has an ACTIVE relationship with the Lord. Not someone who just reads from time to time or goes to church, but someone who talks with God regularly and lives by the Spirit. Very very important and not usually specified. :/

There's obviously lots of things I'm attracted to but those are the top "out of the ordinary" things. There may be more later....

Hmmmm, 6 out of seven isn't bad. Maybe I should get some stylish glasses to make it a perfect seven :p

I think my biggest oddity when it comes to women is being particularly fond of someone who is tomboyish enough to be able to go hiking/camping etc. but still fully a lady who can dress up and go out to a classy restaurant. It seems that most women are extreme tomboy or extreme prissy. The other is eyes. There is just something about a woman with beautiful eyes that melts me.

Outside of that I think most of my desires for a woman are typical for a mature christian man.

The ones who catch my attention the most are often nontypical, quirky, artsy, probably even considered a bit strange by many, very down to Earth, more natural (not a makeup queen) and impossible to fit into a stereotype.

Same here.
I also like...
1. Artistic guys (in music, visual art, poetry):p
2. Not ashamed to wear a pink T-shirt once in a while

3. Loves cooking...even though he's terrible at it
4. Easy-going personality

I just wanted to let the wonderful ladies of CC know, that if you like a unique dresser then my cousin Chad is available, and he is a Christian. Nothing like a furry hat, and orange and white overalls to scream bachelor of the year!

PS, his friend Steve is wearing a real raccoon in his head. Wearing dead animals as hats in the south is a sign of wealth. lol
