Rings are impractical, get caught on things, and are far too easy to take off. So I am in favor of the wedding band tattoo. Get each other's names tattooed around your ring fingers or something like that. To be honest, while marriage should be very permanent, there's too many factors that makes it...not so permanent. I'm not just talking about divorce here, either. Your spouse could become terminally ill, be in a car crash, etc. and suddenly, you now have a constant reminder of what you used to have, and there's no way to remove it.
