I tried to give Fenner some rep points for Valentine's Day, but the system won't let me...

Well, at least now I have something ELSE to be disgruntled about on Valentine's Day instead of being single.

Aww thanks, you're to kind.

Right, it's never like the movies. :p
No real life isn't like the movies. I mean maybe Cast Away would be like that, but I've never been deserted on an island before, so what do I know?

Grandma watches that channel with all those romance comedies. Around this time of year they get especially sappy.

Oh well, it's a break from "The Good Witch" over and over. I swear they have shown that series of movies at least three hundred times now.
They should have a Snapped TV show marathon.

For those who don't know what Snapped is, it's a crime TV show about women who've snapped and killed their significant other's.

Cheerful! Should we start planning the funeral now or do we have a couple of weeks?

I remember a christmas play we did a few years ago, this one elderly couple in the script, the wife was always talking about how she would die soon. The husband gave up on logic and decided to just have fun with it. "Yes dear, we know. Better hurry and finish that cup of tea before it's too late."

In the spirit of Chandler's oh-so-subtle hint, my birthday is after Christmas but before Valentine's Day.

Seeing as mine has already passed, I gladly accept after-sale candy from any holiday. Feel free to PM me and I will gladly leave instructions on where to send it. :D

Several female co-workers have their eye on a huge stuffed giraffe in our promotional department. At last count, there is only one left. I was thinking of trying to snap it up and raffle it off...

Like anyone else on Valentine's Day, I foresee a lot of red. As in... from a big huge fight, because three girls fighting over one large stuffed animal could turn ugly pretty fast.

P.S. This thread is the epitome of why our married friends here are so awesome. Thank you for having compassion (instead of pity!) on us and "giving us the real" of how life actually works. All the commercials, books, and movies, make us forget that sometimes.
WARNING: Nothing you have read here posted by old married fogies is true. It's all a conspiracy to draw all the singles into getting married. They just want all of US to SUFFER as much as THEY do.

No, no, it's true........ watching.gif married peoples.....

Oh, my birthday is november 11th, i never mind it could be a link to valentines day. :)
Yes, its a normal day. I made breakfeast for my wife and sat with her
a long while on sofa in sun. Relax while the children slept and only the dogs went around. And then shopping, walkung with dogs, lunch and going for duty. Now i drive home. And then will see. Its good that a marrige is not basing on Valentines day, but on the Lord!

Fenner's got it down as to the "romance" of a married person's Valentine's day. I got up this morning, took the dogs out, and enjoyed a cup of coffee before my wife got up, then snuck back upstairs to put her present and card on her pillow while she was brushing her teeth. We went out for breakfast at IHOP just because as long as the Sat morning breakfast lines can be at restaurants they're not nearly as long as the Valentine's Day dinner lines.

Currently my wife is napping on the couch while I'm starting a Love Comes Softly series marathon intermingled with some housework and cleaning tools from work yesterday.

Although I'm a romantic at heart and would love to do it up big on Valentine's Day, it just isn't in the budget this year because work has been sparse the past month.

Well my Valentine's Day was all warm and fuzzy. I burnt some cinnamon rolls, went outside and shoveled and got the car cleaned off in 9 degree weather. Did a bunch of laundry, went to my Son's Basketball game. Took the kids to the movie theater, got stressed out. Spent time in the horribly loud movie theater arcade. Was relived when I saw my Husband walk into the theater. Watched the SpongeBob Movie. Went out to my car, it's all frosted on the inside!!!??? Finally got that car defrosted, drove home with an 8 year old who kept drinking a large Icee and saying she had to go so bad. Got home, realized the key's I had didn't have the house key on them. Dug through my purse and finally found keys.

It's been a long stinking day and I'm glad I'm going to bed. I hope you all had a good day. The SpongeBob movie was very funny.

I know some people are going to be upset that yes, I am bumping an old zombie thread.

But to tell you the truth, this has been one of my very favorites in all the time I've been on CC. Fenner isn't here as much but she's always been someone who is married but was extremely compassionate, nonjudgmental, and supportive of our single community. She also wrote some of the best threads ever posted here (check them out if you're so inclined.)

I love this thread because it's filled with a heaping dose of reality--and that's something many of us singles-who-think-we're-totally-missing-out need to hear.

Burnt cinnamon rolls, anyone? (Reference to previous posts.)

If you're feeling lonely and depressed on Singles Awareness Day, escape for a few minutes by reading what it's really like for a couple of our favorite married CC'ers.

Perhaps I could learn something and apply it this time around. I used to think that I was romantic but now I'm starting to wonder. I'm all set with those burnt cinnamon rolls. They probably smell good though.

I'm looking for a cheap place to eat out on Valentine's Day. So, I guess it will be at one of your houses to which I invite myself over, and stuff my face with those cinnamon rolls. :p

Of course 'it' means watching The Notebook..

Funny thing about those horrendous "romantic" movies (as you can tell, I'm not a fan)--some of the stories behind them are a good hard punch-in-the-face of reality.

I don't know if it's true, but I've read that Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams HATED each other, to the point where Gosling was threatening to quit unless they found another actress for the lead role (I've never seen The Notebook, but obviously they must have worked something out, even though their teeth were apparently gritted at each other the whole way.)

Ah... a good old-fashioned cat fight. Now THAT'S REAL love and romance (just check out the Family Forum if you don't believe me!)

OK, I'm not sure what all married people do on Valentines Day, but this is what this married person is doing.

1. Waking up.

2. Cooking breakfast for kids, Husband is working.

3. Signing card she bought for Husband.

4. Laundry.

5. Clean house.

6. Take Son to his basketball game at 4 PM.

7. Stop at some restaurant after basketball game to eat before I take 3 wild kids to see the Sponge Bob movie.

8. Meet Husband at theater, me and 3 wild kids.

9. Go home after movie.

10. Sleep.

Valentines Day is always advertised as this super romantic fuzzy wuzzy kind of day. I just want to let you all know it's a normal day.

When I was single I always felt like I was missing out on something. It's a nice thought to say hey I love you, but you should let people you love know you care all year not just February 14th.

So please don't be depressed on Valentine's Day if you're single. It's just another day.
Lol yes when I was married I thought it was such utter nonsense. Once we went to a restaurant and it turned out to accidentally be Valentine's day. Lol and now that I'm single: ooooooooh I have to feel so sorry for myself this day.
I thought it was for single people to let someone know you're interested.
