1 Corinthians 6:19-20 KJV
What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?
[20] For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's.

When we are born again of Gods Holy Spirit (not Pentecostal) the devil loses control over us.
We have power then to resist the devil.
We must use that power that God has given us.
Not to yield our members or give in to the devils luring or tempting,
because we are still in sinfull bodies here.
But to glorify God in our body.
And to yield/obey Gods voice speaking to us by His Holy Spirit.
Not to grieve the Holy Spirit.

All the worldly things drop off, we have no desire for them, because now we are satisfied in and through Christ Jesus.

We need to be saved/Born again and delivered from every grip of Satan on our lives. (Including smoking)

James 4:7 KJV
Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.
Luke 8:35 KJV
Then they went out to see what was done; and came to Jesus, and found the man, out of whom the devils were departed, sitting at the feet of Jesus, clothed, and in his right mind: and they were afraid.

I will smoke a cigarette or two in social situations. I'm not a regular smoker. Can I be a Christian and be an occasional smoker. With all the Covid stuff, an occasional cigarette is relaxing.
yes. but as a Christian, your smoking may be talked back to you by the Holy Spirit! smoking is extremely harmful. smoking ages you faster, requires longer healing time, destroys your breathing, etc. QUIT NOW. there's so many great habits to be involved in. chew organic gum!!!!

There is no specific doctrine of the church or scripture which forbids this, but you must be lead by your own conscience. If your conviction tells you that it is an activity which removes you from the fullness of grace and the formation of a holy character, then it probably is not the right thing to do. What is more, Christians are commanded to avoid not only sin but the near occasion of sin. Smoking cigarettes even socially can pave the way to addiction, which is a surrender of your reason and free will (God-given faculties.) Again, it is up to you to decide if you are disciplined enough to avoid addiction, and also for you to be led by your conscience as to whether or not this activity risks taking you from the straight and narrow path. But it is a decision which must be made with prudent discernment. God bless.

Relationship with Christ is NOT "religion" that requires we follow a set of do's and do not's.
Many mainstream "churches" would have you burdened with laws, Jesus does not.:)(y):coffee:

Sure!! smoking doesn't send you to hell - it just makes you smell like hell -

The problem with smoking, in a nutshell, is that it's a violation of the first commandment (NO OTHER GODS BEFORE ME). Anything you SERVE is your god. Personally I served cigarettes 3 packs a day (as a Christian) for YEARS with a singlegness of dedication that was absolute. And I still would - IF HE HADN'T GIVEN ME THE STRENGTH to let 'em go (Cold turkey).

If you can't smoke IN FAITH, then to you it's SIN, and you'd feel better if you didn't. (Rom 14)

We haven't been under the law for 2,000 years
Means nothing. The LAW defines SIN. The only thing different for a Christian is that the LAW can't condemn us any more. But it's STILL A STATEMENT OF GOD'S WILL, and just as "in force" as it's always been (being eternal).

SO- what "CHRISTIAN" would willfully GO AGAINST God's will, because he doesn't think it's important any more???

I can't say smoking is a sin.

quite often our plannet is going up in smoke.

Volcanoes are heavy smokers then theres all the forest fires
Then there's smoke from cars and even cooking food.

I personally believe God designed lungs to filter out pollutants to and even designed plants to do the same.

But I would say with smoking self control is needed and kindness to your body.

Both fruits of the spirit I would personaly advice a vapor pen if your going to smoke, for Health reasons,

but you could get to heaven sooner if you become a heavy smoker.
But I wouldn't advice it.

But smoking real cigarettes effects you more in later life.
But if you have self control to only smoke a few each day, your doing well as alot of people become highly addicted.

So I would advice a vapor pen asap.

As smoking real cigarettes is also known to effect mental health to. It's to do with the tar from cigarettes not given the brain enough Oxygen over time can also cause other serious health issues to.

Yes, smoking is a sin, but nowadays, regarding how extensive the smoking community is, I don't think that the Christian church won't allow you to follow their beliefs only because you smoke. Moreover, I believe God will forgive you for this sin if you attend church regularly. I smoke, to be more specific, I vape, and I am a Christian. And I don't see anything terrible in the fact that I am a Christian and I use Brixz Bar Vape cigarettes. Furthermore, no one has a different sentiment about me because I smoke. So yes, I think you can be a Christian if you occasionally smoke cigarettes.

Where is the commandment concerning tobacco use?
(I looked, there isn't one)

However....
Considering fully the New Testament commands about having faith in Jesus and loving each other....how does smoking prohibit or interfere with those things?

Asking because you said it was a sin.

everyone knows smoking is just plain bad for you. it just may be a sin against the body if we view 1st Corinthians 3:16 properly. if we treat our bodies as the "temple of God", then i can assent that smoking is a sin. i never thought about this until DebzGrace mentioned this. no, i don't smoke. i smoked 3 cigarettes in high school in the 9th grade & i didn't like it. i almost allowed myself to be trapped in the "in crowd". i will never forget me saying to myself, "if this is what i have to do to have friends, i'd rather not have any friends"! & as it was, i really never had a group of friends except when i lived in Massachusetts for 3 & 1/2 years.

Whenever I tell someone who smokes that they need to give up that habit, they instantly think I'm going to follow up with a judgmental comment about them smoking, then they laugh when I instead, follow up with, "cigarettes are too darn expensive these days!" :giggle:

I do not smoke, never did. I do not think it is a sin.

18 So run away from sexual sin. It involves the body in a way that no other sin does. So if you commit sexual sin, you are sinning against your own body. 19 You should know that your body is a temple[a] for the Holy Spirit that you received from God and that lives in you. You don’t own yourselves. 20 God paid a very high price to make you his. So honor God with your body.

relates to sexual sins, not smoking

Ephesians 5

Easy-to-Read Version

5 You are God’s dear children, so try to be like him. 2 Live a life of love. Love others just as Christ loved us. He gave himself for us—a sweet-smelling offering and sacrifice to God.
3 But there must be no sexual sin among you. There must not be any kind of evil or selfishly wanting more and more, because such things are not right for God’s holy people. 4 Also, there must be no evil talk among you. Don’t say things that are foolish or filthy. These are not for you. But you should be giving thanks to God. 5 You can be sure of this: No one will have a place in the kingdom of Christ and of God if that person commits sexual sins, or does evil things, or is a person who selfishly wants more and more. A greedy person like that is serving a false god.

Does not say anything about smoking.

I agree second hand smoke is bad for one's health.

No! Those that6 love the Lord understand they have been bought with a price and are called to glorify God in their body

1 Corinthians 6:19-20
What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?
For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's.

The Holy Spirit NEVER leads anybody to smoke. Are ya trying to get cancer? It's a well established fact that tobacco causes cancer and smoking is a great way to get you some cancer. They why they call them cancer sticks!

Call it was it is, a sin and ask the Lord to forgive you.

Going forward, understand that this is a sin and turn away from it.

Precious friend, so then the "first-hand smoke [ defiled black lungs? ]"
is not a sin, even though we have "What Saith The Scripture?":

"Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit
of God Dwelleth in you? If any man defile the temple of God,
him shall God destroy; for the temple of God is holy, which
temple ye are." (1 Corinthians 3:16-17 AV)
Amen.

This is also how we know suicide is a sin.

The part that tells us "If any man defile the temple of God, him shall God destroy"

Self murder is the ultimate defiling of the body, which is why even Christians who self murder go to hell.

I already showed that 1 Corinthians 6 has to do with sexual sin. There is no comand, not to smoke.

The Greek historian Herodotos wrote that the Scythians vaporized cannabis seeds as part of their cultural rituals. He wrote that after a funeral procession holden for one of their kings:

They make a booth by fixing in the ground three sticks inclined towards one another, and stretching around them woolen felts which they arrange so as to fit as close as possible: inside the booth a dish is placed upon the ground into which they put a number of red-hot stones and then add some hemp seed. At once it begins to smoke, giving off a vapor unsurpassed by any vapor-bath one could find in Greece. The Scythians delighted shout for joy.[2][3]

The Anointing Oil
22 Then the Lord said to Moses, 23 “Find the finest spices. Get 12 pounds[a] of liquid myrrh, half that amount (that is, 6 pounds[b]) of sweet-smelling cinnamon, and 12 pounds of sweet-smelling cane, 24 and 12 pounds of cassia. Use the official measure to measure all these things. Also get 1 gallon[c] of olive oil.
25 “Mix all these things to make a special sweet-smelling anointing oil. 26 Pour this oil on the Meeting Tent and on the Box of the Agreement. This will show that these things have a special purpose. 27 Pour the oil on the table and on all the dishes on the table. And pour this oil on the lamp and on all its tools. Pour the oil on the incense altar. 28 Also, pour the oil on the altar for burning offerings to God. Pour this oil on everything on that altar. Pour this oil on the bowl and on the base under the bowl. 29 You will make all these things holy. They will be very special to the Lord. Anything that touches these things will also become holy.

"DOES THE BIBLE EVER MENTION IT? Only once. The original Hebrew language texts of the Old Testament mention cannabis in a recipe for an oil of holy anointment, an ointment compound after the art of the apothecary: it shall be an holy anointing oil.
