I feel like a sick and disgusting person. Like many others on these forums, I have an addiction to pornography. It seems to be an every day battle for me. I don't want to do it, I fight against it, but go and do it anyway. It's like I'm numb to it. I'll be telling myself in my head that I shouldn't do it, that I don't want to do it, while at the same time I am clicking on the links. I've asked God many times to help me fight this. Still, I havn't been able to overcome it. This isn't who I want to be...why can't I just stop??????????? I feel like a sick and stupid failure after I do it. But then I just go and do it again later. I don't understand...I just wish I could overcome it. Please pray for me. I havn't the courage to talk to this about this to anybody in my life. I just need help. I just want it to stop.

I would suggest that whenever you are getting an urge to click on such things immediatly try countering it with a spiritual discipline, imediatly start praying, start reading the word, or play a worship song and jsut start worshipping him. Remember this though dear sister, you have won the war against the evil one and God still calls you his faithful and beloved daughter.

God never said "Thou shalt not enjoy porn." It is not a sin, although it can lead to other things that are sinful. Just so long as you don't take it in that direction, you have nothing to worry about. Utah, on the other hand, does have something to worry about. The state of Utah, especially Salt Lake City, produces more child pornography that any other American state. Somewhere, Brigham Young is rolling over in his grave.
But I digress.
God wants you to be happy, so do what makes you happy, whether that's kicking your habit, or indulging it. Either way, you only have yourself to please in this situation.

Watching porn is sinful after all Jesus did say he who so much as looks at a woman with the purpose of lusting after her has commited adultery in his heart. btw I don't think they had porn back in 1 century Judea the same way we do today

That's only if it's a man and he's married.
Let me clarify that: You can't commit adultery if you're single. Even if you're dating someone. Until you stand at the Altar and say "I do," you may lust after whomever you like.

I believe that it is wrong. And if it wasn't, then why would I feel such shame and guilt over it? Thanks for taking the time to give me advice, I appreciate it. But I still believe that it is wrong, those actions are not something that glorify God. It's wrong and I need to stop.

If this were truly the case, the world would be so twisted, although in several ways it already is. God wants us to follow His word, not live for ourselves.

For me, sometimes I convinced myself it wasn't a sin because it was "natural."

I knew I had to meet God halfway, and it was pretty easy for me, because I wouldn't say I was addicted, I watched because I wanted to, but it was affecting my mind and soul.

So I just stopped "searching for it" and started reading my Bible and searched for God. I struggled but continued to pray. After a while, I had no desire to "want" to watch it and stopped.

So read read read the Bible, pray and fast (if you know how), it'll help you grow stronger Spiritually and closer to God/Christ.

I'll also keep you in prayer. God Bless :)

WOAAAH !! You are probably the first Christian I have heard out-right state that pornography is ok. I thought LUST was a sin, and considered adultery as was also stated in this thread. Maybe I'm wrong.

The Bible reads;

-Colossians 3:5
Put to death, therefore, whatever belongs to your earthly nature: sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desires and greed, which is idolatry.

-1 Thessalonians 4:5
not in passionate lust like the heathen, who do not know God;

-1 Peter 4:3
For you have spent enough time in the past doing what pagans choose to do—living in debauchery, lust, drunkenness, orgies, carousing and detestable idolatry.

-2 Peter 2:18
For they mouth empty, boastful words and, by appealing to the lustful desires of sinful human nature, they entice people who are just escaping from those who live in error.

-1 John 2:16
For everything in the world—the cravings of sinful man, the lust of his eyes and the boasting of what he has and does—comes not from the Father but from the world.

-Job 31:1
"I made a covenant with my eyes not to look lustfully at a girl.

-Proverbs 6:25
Do not lust in your heart after her beauty or let her captivate you with her eyes,

-Ezekiel 16:26
You engaged in prostitution with the Egyptians, your lustful neighbors, and provoked me to anger with your increasing promiscuity.

---> Matthew 5:28
But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart.

-Romans 1:27
In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed indecent acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their perversion.

-Ephesians 4:19
Having lost all sensitivity, they have given themselves over to sensuality so as to indulge in every kind of impurity, with a continual lust for more.

Definitely NOT a positive light.

I don't know any teenage male at this moment who has not struggled with this at least once. I hate to admit these things, even on the internet.

Similar experience for me. Anytime I felt a fallback might be possible, I just pulled up youtube and a Zac Poonen sermon. Works like a charm. :D

hi,
if you really want to stop then pray really hard about it and take steps to prevent the temptation. stop watching tv, block the sites on the web if that's possible. disconnect your cable if thats what you use. just take a break from the medium until the urge leaves your system. become more active in youth ministry at your church, so you have less time to think about those things. resist the devil and he will flee from you. God bless

There are accountability sites online you can join, and on the site you will be assigned an accountability partner. On the site it will register every time you go onto a questionable site, and your accountability partner will help you out. I don't know how exactly the sites work, because I've never used one, but I've heard they are pretty affective because it gives you friendly support.

Is lusting after your husband or wife a sin? Lust alone is not a sin. The Catholics made it a Sin. If we are all married to God and shalt not lust, then how will the Human Race continue itself? Cloning? LOL.
I mean, I know Jesus was a sexy beast, but c'mon, how old is he now? And if you really believe these things these people are telling you and your vestigial "conscience," maybe you should check out some of the many flavours of Hentai.

27"You have heard that it was said, 'Do not commit adultery.'[a] 28But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart. Please tell me how anyone applies to "only the married people" and also Jesus wasn't a very good looking person he was just ordinary your average male human. What is your definition of lust?

Canterbury, I'm not sure if your intentions on these threads are good or not. I've read many of your posts. What you are saying, from a Christian perspective, or atleast mine, is just wrong; doing more harm than good. I will not try to justify my sinful actions, and I ask for no one to try to justify them for me. I was seeking prayer, encouragement and advice. I'm only glad that I am mature enough in my faith to realize that your words are incorrect. I pray that anyone else struggling and hears your words, will also be mature enough in their walk with Christ to realize what you are saying is not truth. I pray for wisdom and guidence for you. Bottom line, lust and pornography are not okay. They are not Christ like actions. I pray no one is led astray on this.

This is a really difficult issue to tackle, not to mention the ongoing pain it can bring. I agree that the best way to tackle it is to be totally devote to God. Read, Worship or listen to a sermon are really good strategies. Another thing I believe in is being 100% accountable. Even if you just find someone on the internet you can confide in. We tend to do these things in the dark but as Christians we live in the light. Therefore being accountable drags all your darkness into the light. I too stuggle with sexual addiction and it has had a massive negative impact on my life. But I find that being accountable is the most helpful thing for me after trusting and relying on God. God Bless you.

Greetings Romans1212,

Romans 6:6-7 (King James Version)

6Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin.
7For he that is dead is freed from sin.

The answer is found in the verses above. The reality is that "we have died." Not that we will die, or are dying. Nope, we have died already.

But head knowledge of facts won't help anyone. God must show us by Divine Revelation that we died with Christ.

So stop trying to overcome - because human efforts will not prevail against sin - and start praying to God to give you a Revelation of this truth through His Word. Only the Spirit can make the scripture come alive to us.

Give yourself a break, I'd say over 80% of all Christian guys have this problem, and everybody has their vices. Its only through Gods strength that we can overcome them, there’s nothing you can do in your own strength. Personally I think pornography isnt as much of a big deal as the church has made it out to be, but as usual when it comes to anything sexual, religious folk tend to scream EVIL EVIL, when its not necessarily the case. People keep on forgetting that it is all about your relationship with God that counts, develop your relationship with him and you’ll find the strength to overcome any sin your struggling with.

Boy, that sounds like satan talking there: "God wants you to be happy, so do what makes you happy."

God's way of making us happy is by teaching us to be totally in love with Him. He is the fountain of living waters, knowing God is eternal life, etc..
