I feel like a sick and disgusting person. Like many others on these forums, I have an addiction to pornography. It seems to be an every day battle for me. I don't want to do it, I fight against it, but go and do it anyway. It's like I'm numb to it. I'll be telling myself in my head that I shouldn't do it, that I don't want to do it, while at the same time I am clicking on the links. I've asked God many times to help me fight this. Still, I havn't been able to overcome it. This isn't who I want to be...why can't I just stop??????????? I feel like a sick and stupid failure after I do it. But then I just go and do it again later. I don't understand...I just wish I could overcome it. Please pray for me. I havn't the courage to talk to this about this to anybody in my life. I just need help. I just want it to stop.

Hi romans1212,

I used to be addicted to porn and can tell you that there is victory over it in Christ. I did a post a few months ago of my testimony.

It is my hope that this will be helpful to you and an encouragement.

Great testimony!!!

Only by receiving a revelation from God can we know His love. Reading the Bible will not do it for us, unless the Spirit takes God's Word and makes it alive to us.

But we must also be through with our legalism first. We must first renounce our own efforts at righteousness. God loves us when we are still sinners, so we don't have to think that we must obey before we receive His love. We already have His love!!!

hi,
if you really want to stop then pray really hard about it and take steps to prevent the temptation. stop watching tv, block the sites on the web if that's possible. disconnect your cable if thats what you use. just take a break from the medium until the urge leaves your system. become more active in youth ministry at your church, so you have less time to think about those things. resist the devil and he will flee from you. God bless

Don't follow this advice. Sin is a Law that must be obeyed - Romans 7 - and this advice will not result in a relationship with God. We must be delivered from sin through death with Christ, that we might live according to the Law of the Spirit of Life in Christ Jesus.

Just as gravity is a Law, Sin is a Law. You can throw a rock up in the air and it will remain in the air for a time, but it will eventually come crashing down. So too with human efforts to overcome sin - we may be successful for a time - but we will eventually come crashing down. But just as the Law of Jet Propulsion overcomes the Law of Gravity, so does the Law of the Spirit of Life in Christ Jesus overcome the Law of sin.

But the reality is this, if we want to overcome sin for our sakes, God will never help us. This is called "worldly sorrow" and the Bible says it results in death. What we need is "Godly Sorrow" to feel bad for treating a good God so terribly. We are the bad ones, and God is good.

I know Romans 1212 is a girl lol. And I never said pornography was a good thing, people keep on focusing on the sin, then on Christ. It is not your job to clean yourself up, it’s God's. Not that is wont require effort on your behalf, your just focusing on the wrong issue. And I don’t believe that viewing naked artwork, be that photography or otherwise is a sin, the human body is a beautiful thing. But yes I would say God would def frown upon watching other people do sexual things with each other.

Remember God created Adam and Eve naked in the Garden of Eden, it was after they sinned when the put clothes on.

And not that does not mean you can watch more porn lol I'm just saying..
