Masturbation... There is a book titled. Sex isnt the problem, Lust is. and the author states in there that masturbation is of self gratification and that in itself is wrong. That it is not pure and we should keep purtity before God. I have also read in a book by David K. Bernard, and he stated if you can do it with no lust than there is no sin... However how many people can masterbate and not have a lustful thought.

It is possible.

And I dont get how the whole idea of self gratification is bad that is like saying anything that GRATIFIES YOURSELF is a sin. So yes taking care of children is now a sin? Singing is now a sin? Loving god is a sin?

Because all of those things

Dictionary.com-

1.
the state of being gratified; great satisfaction.
2. something that gratifies; source of pleasure or satisfaction.

3. the act of gratifying.

4. Archaic . a reward, recompense, or gratuity.

So on those terms if serving the lord is a sourace of pleasure and satisfaction for you. It is a sin. I am pretty sure that is false.

Masterbation is a gratification of the flesh. I could go into detail, but I think you understand.

I just dont understand that how something that pleases onself is against the bible.

If it purifies you that gives it a spiritual purpose (ie purifies daily thoughts and etc.) and isnt spoken of in the bible then there should be no harm.

(Even though it is spoken of and the way I interpret scripture it is the lust that is wrong not the act.)

If being on your knees for 5, maybe 10 minutes at most is too painful, that's just sad.
And yet reality for many people. Honestly? I don't like being on my knees for that amount of time. I wouldn't call it 'unbearable pain' but certainly discomfort.

But this is all besides the point. I was being completely and utterly facetious. You knew that, right?

True. She might be a midget.
I was gonna comment on how you'd most likely be on a mattress anyways making the possibility of sore knees improbable... and then I saw this comment... what the wordIdesperatelywishIwasallowedtosayintimeslikethis?!

I am just gonna let god speak to me now and pray to him more about this. And go by what HE says. Not be what other christians say.

I just beleive that by doing that I can control my unchristian thoughts and dreams and that those things are not of god. Thats what I feel.

That's exactly what you have to do because in the end how you choose to live as a Christian is between you and God, and in the end only God can tell you what to do.

This is an easy way to decipher whether masturbation is of God or not. Ask yourself this one question: Would I want to be caught in the act of masturbation in the moment Jesus returns for his people?

Would you want to be caught having sex with your spouse the moment Jesus returns? Or on the toilet? Or in the shower? Or picking out a wedgie?

Whilst I believe that masturbation is wrong, I agree with you that our social dispositions are not an accurate litmus test for the morality of our actions. Heck, I'd hate to be caught sleeping when our Lord returns; seriously, I despise the world and everyone in it when I wake up. I'd probably miss the whole d*mn thing since I'd roll over and go back to sleep, urging Jesus to give me another 5 minutes.

Considering the general belief is God sees everything anyways, I'd probably just not be embarrassed considering making love to my spouse is probably not the worst or most disgusting thing he's seen me do. I'd probably complain that he arrived at a bad time though...

Knowing my luck it would happen 5 minutes before my alarm for work goes off and I'd be like, "Just couldn't let me sleep in could you? Had to sweep me up into the clouds this very second did ya?" I think even God knows not to mess with me when I first wake up... heck my own roommates learned it very quickly.

I don't have a spouse or partake in sex so cross that out. I am married to JESUS I would not be ashamed of being on the toilet in the shower or picking out a wedgie because that is not a sin. Get real!

Never said they were sins but I'm pretty sure they're all things that you don't want people walking in on, let alone a holy deity that you worship and already believe is far more worthy than you. I know I'd sure be embarrassed if Jesus returned and walked right in when my IBS flares up. Using what you'd be embarrassed to be seen doing isn't really an effective way to determine what is and isn't moral, which was my point.

I wasn't referring to being embarrassed. More like ashamed, there is a huge difference.
