Should women hold the same jobs as men??

Today many women hold the same jobs as men. Should they be police officers and soldiers when it can be extremely dangerous even for men to hold these same jobs? Is it scriptural for women to engage in these type of jobs? Of course Deborah was a judge but she didn't lead the battle against Sisera and Jael finished him but she did it by deciet which was in fact a prophecy thru Deborah that was victorious. Is it wise for women to place themselves in physically dangerous jobs like active combat ?

I don't think that there is a Scriptural precedent for whether men should/shouldn't do certain jobs or whether women should/shouldn't do certain jobs.

God gave men specific capabilities which lend themselves to certain occupations, and likewise for women. Of course, there was (and is) a lot of crossover. There are men who make great teachers, nurses, HR personnel, social workers, etc. and there are women who make great soldiers, sailors, firefighters, police officers, etc. The important thing though, is that whatever one does, he/she should use it as an opportunity to glorify the Lord.

If God puts that call on their life, then it is totally safe! A women can do any job a man can do is how I see it, it's all in the mind!

Thanks for the input. The reason why I asked is because the guys I know have admitted that they don't feel physically threatened by a lady cop or soldier. I know that in scripture both genders have held some of the same jobs like being a shepherd or shepherdess or prophet. Once again thanks for the input.

Is there anything is the Bible against it? I don't think so. I think common sense forbids it.

1. Most women can't take punches, watch the countless videos of criminals knocking female officers out with one shot and getting away (or further injuring the officer). Almost every time a criminal sucker punches a male officer, a fight ensues and the male officer will get the upper-hand 9 times out of 10.

2. If I'm a 250lb solder who gets shot in the middle of no where, the last thing I want is to have a 5'5 120lb female on my squad try to carry me for 5 miles.

Men and women are physically different. There's a good reason why there's a male bantamweight division and a female bantamweight division in the UFC.

It kills me when people say this is sexist.

I've seen some of the same videos. I have to agree with you and I don't think what you've said is sexist.

Hi.

You need to look at the age of the person 25 years ago and those who know my background and some here know a little aboutmy self , any way . I was with the Fire service and we trained as a team of 4 and with 4 teams most times I would be first at the station most of us had jobs and worked for the NZR railways ,

I was very strong and could lift a guy and come down a ladder say some 40 feet high and this is needed or be on a branch fire hose a strong flow of water coming out and carry hose,s as needed , would I do it now no of cause not I'm 68 +

So you see what ever you do think about it do you have the strength to carry it out , now I know some women would out do myself as they are a lot younger , yet I'm still very strong as a female yet I know how far I can go, .

or could you work with me on a building site and lift heavy timbers = lumber , or dig trenchs all day, this is my work world , so could be different for some women , or climb on bridges and work on them again heights could be an issue , say 7 sec,s drop or 5 maybe , different when your on the bridge looking down then have to climb down ,

I took Jos with me to work on a day many years ago we have 16 bridges and I worked on every one , I know for a fact Jos would never have worked on them let alone climb on them , so not every woman could even think of doing that , and don't for get many men would not ether ,

Hi again ,

250 lb guy I,ll need to think about that could I lift him 2 1/2 bags of cement heck I think I,d be struggling on that count 2 bags was my limit and I was pushing it , no, I weigh in at 154 lb,s and then think about gear and all gear at 50 lbs nope sorry I'm out , and I trained with weights from age 17 on not you gym type still weights and yes I was very strong I'm 5 9"'.

I realise as a female I don't look like a guy all muscled up and so on like some I know and some who don't know me think I'm just an average looking woman and not that strong so when I pick up the end of a piano and shift it see the look on their face, oh how funny you cant do that they say, oh cant I, just watch ,

I tell ya I have some fun with people ......priceless at times .

Thanks for even taking the time to respond Noleena..you've held some pretty interesting jobs and you seem like a smart lady..seems like we're off to a good start with this thread. I feel the way I do about this subject because of what my guy friends have told me and also from what I've seen.. For Some women .. truthfully when it comes down to these type of active combat duty jobs..physically ..it might be an unwise decision..women can work outside the home..I am not saying they can't .. I believe in gender equality but with a dose of common sense..

Why? Why is it so important that men and women have to have the same? Have the same types of jobs? MEN AND WOMEN ARE DIFFERENT! And I praise God for those wonderful differences. Women are fantastic in some things men stink at, and vice- versa. Oh my God, I actually SAID IT!

As someone who had a civillion job in the Police Force I definitely believe that Women should have the same Jobs. There are circumstances in Policing where it is more appropriate for a Female Officer to interview victims and suspects than a Male officer. Also in many cases where Children and Vulnerable people are involved a Female Officer will have a more positive rapport with the individual than a Male counterpart. There are obviously situations where the opposite is true.
I am not sure about the armed services. There are many none combatant roles Women can play. In doing so they allow
Men to be in Combat where otherwise they would have to do those Jobs. During the World Wars Women were vital in contributing to the war effort. I am sure that the UK would have gone under if it was'nt for the Women keeping everything going.

There are just some jobs that women should not do. Im not saying that to be sexist but God made women do fulfill certain roles and it certainly dosnt mean they are less than either! How can a mother be at home with her babies when she is on the front line of combat?

Women are supposed to be gentle and soft spoken ladies and not a rough tough soldier kind of person... Proverbs 31 doesnt say anything about combat:)
