I also spend time considering how healthy it is spending the amount of time in our entertainment and devices that we spend, when life is about living with God. It is something I struggle with, too. And not just video games, but tv, radio, internet, cars, phones, any of these things that we spend time and money on, and make a daily part of our life.
And I also once played games religiously, Id get magazines, and keep up with what was coming out and save up every penny I had to make sure I could get them, and Id even go as far as to spend time not playing a game thinking about these games :p

I do think that all of these things we use as entertainment can serve as idolatry, and I have been thinking alot more on these things, too.

Okay, that being said and all, I /do/ enjoy videogames, yes :p My all time favorite game, Rune Factory :3 If youve ever played Harvest Moon, its a game thats taken from that, and turned into a fantasy adventure rpg.
Its basically a fantasy life sim, like being the hero of some fantasy story living your every day life, building a home, falling in love, getting married, making your living, and going off to fight baddies :p Its a way great game series, Im playing Rune Factory 4 for 3ds right now, a friend got it for me as a birthday gift :3

I mostly like JRPGs, and farming and life simulators, I dont really play much else :p And I mostly just play games on Nintendo consoles, though I play Playstation at times, and even had a 360 with one game I really liked for it :p
I've played Rune Factory; I thought it was really cute but my attention span for games like that is really limited. It takes too long to do stuff XD Same with Harvest Moon. Oddly enough I love Animal Crossing, though :p

Haha, really? I actually think Animal crossing is a seriously watered down Harvest Moon :p

Though, I guess if you think theres too much to do in HM and RF, then AC would be a good game to play, yeah :p

I liked Animal Crossing when I first, played it, but realized I couldnt really find anything to do :p I have a few friends who like it, but they seem to mostly just like playing it together.

The new Star Wars Battlefront!

I've only sampled The Witcher 3 and Elder Scrolls Online briefly at work. Both are cool. The Witcher 3 received a lot of high marks/positive reviews, and I personally remember the graphics being better in it than in The Elder Scrolls. Can't say much outside of that, though (not really a gamer anymore).

The video games I like to play also involve Facebook games. I used to play a lot of Facebook games. I think I first started with Hidden Chronicles (before it ceased to exist), Indiana Jones Adventure World (before it ceased to exist, Blackwood & Bell Mysteries (before it ceased to exist), Journey of Moses (I think I got to the parting of the Red Sea or close to that, before the game did not exist anymore, never played the Noah's Ark game, Threads of Mystery (which does not exist and lost interest in it after a while), I tried Farmville (did not like it), Chefville (before it ceased to exist), and Ghosts of Mistwood (before I got burned out, a lot of my friends stopped playing, and I quit), Disney Words of Wonder (before I got burned out), Disney Animal Kingdom Explorers (before I got burned out), Zynga Bingo or it was a different named bingo game, Zynga Slingo (it was fun until I burned out, Chefville (when it had a lot of bugs, had issues, and then ceased to exist), Ruby Blast (got burned out and went back to it before it ceased to exist), Bubble Safari (before it ceased to exist), Bubble Safari Ocean (before it ceased to exist), Hidden Shadows (before I burned out and it ceased to exist), Words with Friends (stopped playing) I played a game that was basically a ripoff of the Sims called The Ville (I was having fun, but did not like how you could not increase a relationship and become good friends without having sex outside marriage. In fact, I tried to see what I could do as my male character and how to improve my relationship with other male friends and the game gave me an option to have sex with the dude. That crossed the line for me and I quit playing the game and felt exploited as a Christian and then explained to another Christian why I quit. I also played some games on the Playstation, Playstation 2, the Polystation (a brand-x version of the NES), and I have played other games on emulators, and Restaurant Empire (which I got rid of because the customers were not patient and were acting entitled about their orders and the timing of them), etc. Now on to the games I play nowadays online and on Facebook:

1. Star Trek Online

2. Star Trek: Alien Domain

3. Gardens of Time

4. Journey of Jesus

P.S. Sorry you had that experience in ESO. A lot of people don't play it because they wanted that MMO to be similar to the Elder Scrolls series and not because of that. You will not have that experience in Star Trek Online, though when I was trying to explain the Christian position on homosexuality, someone claimed that we ended the Crusades on Muslims and are now starting them up again and going after homosexuals with a different guise. I tried to explain that the Crusades were wrong (though I have found out that the idea was to take back Jerusalem from the Muslims who were oppressing them but then that plan got derailed by some bad apples). That was sad, to hear that. Just not allowed to disagree nowadays by the very intolerant, neo-liberal left. As for the other games that were mentioned as well as different ones, I just watch them through Let's Players on Youtube that I enjoy. God bless, my brothers and sisters in Christ. :)

Have you played The Thousand Year Door?

Have you seen any of the newer, more modern Sonic games?

Theyre absolutely horrible :p

Im a big fan of retro games, I currently want to get into Body Harvest for N64.
Fun fact, that was Rockstar, the people behind the GTA series, very first game.

Dont worry, though. It doesnt have all the horrible sinful things GTA has, its mostly just saving people from insectoid aliens whove come to eat them :p

You CAN steal and drive every automobile you come across, however :3

I have seen some of the newer sonic games and totally agree that they are terrible. I am a 90s girl and the original sonic games will always be my true video game love :D Retro game lovers UNITE!

Yay! I've recently got into Minecraft in a big way. I'm still a noob, I only found diamond about a few days ago and there are many things I don't know how to build, but I'm having fun. To be fair, Survival mode is more difficult than Creative. And how creepy do those Endermen want to be? Pretty creepy! With their weird noises and their unpredictable behaviour and teleportation. Yikes!

I think Minecraft is only for the gaming "purist"...

who thinks good graphics and a plot are the work of Satan.

: )

Me neither! I saw a demo of someone playing it on youtube once and thought it looked too complicated :p

I was talking to my boss about video games once, and minecraft came up. I told him I have never played it, so he offered to buy me a box of legos.

Apparently, he says, its just as fun :p
