When you hear what sounds like a bunch of really really loud trumpets, and see Mormons,Jehovah witnesses and other false religion followers running for their lives, you'll know it's here, just have your life right with God ad don't worry about it, he's got your back, as far as that Mayan calendar guy, I think he got tired of chiseling, went to get a drink of water and use the bathroom, and a meteor fell on him, maby God got fed up with him trying to predict the end of the world? 
I hope I get to stick around long enough to see at least one atheist pee themselves, dont worry, it's all a bunch of molecules who just happened to come together and look like God coming down from the sky

I remember that also. Even though they were wrong I have no doubts that many turned to God as a result. I know my younger brother did. He was terrified Jesus would leave him behind. I know God would've used that situation to fulfill His purpose and bring many to repentance.
Maybe the world is being conditioned to ignore any further warnings of Jesus returning? Kind of like the boy who cried wolf?
I believe all these final things will happen in our lifetime. From what I can see, there are 7 feasts. 4 have been fulfilled already by Jesus. The next one is the feast of trumpets, which I believe to be the rapture "being caught up". Like when the groom returns for the bride, the trumpets will blow (Jewish Shofars)...the wedding begins. The 6th and 7th feast will be fulfilled after we've been caught up. The 6th is where Israel are saved/restored and the 7th is the wedding feast/Millennium.
So I conclude - the rapture could happen any day now. No one knows the day or the hour. God did say the signs of the times will be very clear when we're close.
On another note, Israel is God's prophetic clock. We can also keep an eye on them to see how close we are.
