Where does it say in scriptures that the seal of God is the Holy Spirit? The seal on the 10 commandments was the sabbath law, because as God said,

"Speak thou also unto the children of Israel, saying, Verily my Sabbaths ye shall keep: for it is a sign between me and you throughout your generations; that ye may know that I am the LORD that doth sanctify you." (Exodus 31:13).

“And he received the
sign of circumcision, a seal of the righteousness of the faith which he had yet being uncircumcised: that he might be the father of all them that believe, though they be not circumcised; that righteousness might be imputed unto them also.” (Romans 4:11).

NOTE: Sign and Seal are synonymous, they mean the same thing.

“God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good? Behold, I have received commandment to bless: and he hath blessed; and I cannot reverse it.” (Numbers 23:19, 20).

Exo 31:16 Wherefore the children of Israel shall keep the sabbath, to observe the sabbath throughout their generations, for a perpetual covenant.

Exo 31:17 It is a sign between me and the children of Israel for ever: for in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, and on the seventh day he rested, and was refreshed.

So the sabbath is a sign of God, or His seal, representing His authority as Creator. Now look at the 4th Commandment as found in Exodus.
Exo 20:8 Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy.
Exo 20:9 Six days shalt thou labor, and do all thy work:
Exo 20:10 But the seventh day is the sabbath of the LORD thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates:
Exo 20:11 For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.

I thought WE are the New Israel, those of us that accept Christ. So what about being the New Israel makes this "sign" that our God is the creator not about us?

2 corinthians 1:21-22..."Now He who establishes us with you in Christ and anointed us is God, who also sealed us and gave us the Spirit in our hearts as a pledge."

ephesians 1:13-14..."In Him, you also, after listening to the message of truth, the gospel of your salvation—having also believed, you were sealed in Him with the Holy Spirit of promise, who is given as a pledge of our inheritance, with a view to the redemption of God’s own possession, to the praise of His glory."

ephesians 4:30..."Do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption."

This does not have anything to do with throwing aside a commandment of God. Obviously we will enter into His rest. But I don't know about you; I still have to work for a living. Hence, I rest on the sabbath.
someone had claimed that the passage in hebrews was telling us we still had to observe the sabbath...i was refuting that claim...since hebrews is talking about something completely different and not relevant to the topic...

Three strikes and Shiloah's (or whoever came up with this half baked false teaching) is out.

this is actually a very good observation...now understand that in light of what peter says about we ourselves being a priesthood...

this is the truth that blows most sabbath keepers' minds...we can break the sabbath and be no less obedient to the law than they...
Well, that would be true of those working for God on the sabbath. You know, preaching the gospel, that type of thing? I can see that. But obviously that wouldn't include working for a living, like plowing your fields and stuff. That type of thing?

I'm out. I do know by now that people do impossible gymnastics with the scriptures to make them feel ok about not obeying Christ's words. I'm sure this would never end if I don't just go do something else. So have at it.

Yes, I think was someone else but can't recall. They are willing to grasp at anything, even if it is out of context to prove you must obey the Sabbath.

His point is that not one of the other ten commandments is questioned. Only the sabbath law is ignored. Obviously, it is not convenient in this society or in the present day church to keep a 7th day sabbath. A person that does so gets called every name in the book by other supposed Christians. One does so because one believes what Christ said, and that was once again....

Matthew 5:19

So whoever sets aside any command that seems unimportant and teaches others to do the same will be unimportant in the kingdom of heaven. But whoever does and teaches what the commands say will be called great in the kingdom of heaven.

Hence! Even if the sabbath commandment is the least important of God's commandments...

Here it is in the KJV since I'm sure the above translation will be immediately discounted.

Matthew 5:19 KJV King James Version

Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.
you follow a commandment that tells you to take a day off...

what a trial you endure in the name of God...

when you burn everything you own that is cotton polyester blend as the law commands...then we'll talk...

The "shadow" clearly was about sacrificing animals as Jesus Christ became our perfect lamb from heaven. Obviously those laws were fulfilled. The sabbath law was about showing that our God is the creator who created the world in 6 days and rested on the 7th. Isn't our God still the creator? Are we now His people?
paul doesn't mention animal sacrifices at all in colossians 2:16-17...paul mentions the annual feasts and monthly new moons and weekly sabbaths as shadows fulfilled by christ...

the festivals pointed both forwards and backwards...for example the passover pointed backwards to the exodus and forwards to christ...

likewise the sabbath pointed backwards to creation and forwards to our rest in christ...it is now fulfilled just as the passover is fulfilled...

didn't you claim the judaizer's heresy of Galatians was that they were sacrificing animals?

did you ever document that?

Acts 15:5
But there rose up certain of the sect of the Pharisees which believed, saying, That it was needful to circumcise them, and to command them to keep the law of Moses.

Galatians 5
7You were running well. Who hindered you from obeying the truth? 8This persuasion is not from him who calls you. 9A little leaven leavens the whole lump. 10I have confidence in the Lord that you will take no other view than mine, and the one who is troubling you will bear the penalty, whoever he is. 11But if I, brothers,b still preach circumcision, why am I still being persecuted? In that case the offense of the cross has been removed. 12I wish those who unsettle you would emasculate themselves!

Acts 15:10
9and He made no distinction between us and them, cleansing their hearts by faith. 10"Now therefore why do you put God to the test by placing upon the neck of the disciples a yoke which neither our fathers nor we have been able to bear?

don't say you trust in the Finished work of Jesus - just dare to offend God and go back to the law.

you might want to look at all 39 occurrences of peirazó (3985)

here's one:

Matthew 22:18 V-PIA-2P
BIB: Τί με πειράζετε ὑποκριταί
NAS: Why are you testing Me, you hypocrites?
KJV: Why tempt ye me,
INT: Why me do you tempt hypocrites

The Passover wasn't one of the ten commandments. Yes, the passover was actually a shadow.

Paul would never have had the authority to do away with one of the commandments even if he did try, which I don't believe he did. If he had tried, he would have been the very one Christ was speaking of when He said "if any man breaks even the least of these commandments and teaches others to do so, he will be considered the least in the Kingdom of Heaven..."

I'm really leaving now. lol.

No, the confusion continues. It's just finally being questioned.

P.S. Nobody discussed it in scripture because everyone kept the sabbath. Don't you think it would have been majorly discussed if a Law of God had been changed? As if any disciple would have had that authority anyway, to literally blow off what Christ said and teach men to ignore a commandment of God?
the gentiles never kept the sabbath...go to papua new guinea and see if the native people there knew they were supposedly required to keep the sabbath...

only the jews knew or cared about the sabbath...because God gave it to them...

the apostles would have made a big deal about gentiles having to keep the sabbath if they had wanted greeks and romans to start observing it...the fact that they didn't showed that the apostles didn't much care whether or not gentile converts kept the sabbath...

lol.. You have not even begun to do anything, but show alot of ignorance, show you can not read. and continue to want to live like the jew and not like the christian.

I will pray for you.. Only God can help you!
i used to wonder if reading comprehension was the root of the sabbath keepers' issues...then i realized it was a spirit of confusion...

We've been through this, Rachel. Jesus is our High Priest. The priests in the temple broke the sabbath by working on the sabbath, but they weren't guilty.

Jesus uses this example knowing full well that the Pharisees didn't think that David or the High Priest had sinned when the High Priest gave David the holy Bread, which was only for the priests (Lev. 24:8-9). The Pharisees had reasoned that it fell under preservation of life, which for them, would overrule the law that only the priests could eat the holy Bread. Jesus used this example to speak to Pharisaic perception about the incident, but the reason why the High Priest gave the holy Bread to David rested not on hunger (preservation of life), but on the fact that David spoke of being on a mission from the king.

David asked the High Priest for some bread, but the only food that he had was the Bread of the Presence. Only the priests were allowed to eat the 12 loaves of the holy Bread that had been in the Presence of God in the Holy Place upon the gold Table. The loaves were taken out each sabbath after having been there for a week and were replaced with 12 fresh loaves. The priests were commanded to eat them in a holy place (on the holy Tabernacle grounds) and there was no provision for anyone else to eat the holy Bread.

Again, Jesus is our High Priest, and even He who is Lord of the sabbath did not break any of His laws.

you must have just quit reading about halfway through the post you were responding to...

because in the rest of my post i had pointed out that scripture says that -we- are priests...

and if old testament priests could break the sabbath without being guilty of sin...then so can we...the new testament priesthood...

The new Testament clearly does discuss the end of law and beginning of grace in Christ. They talk about doing away with circumcision, eating unclean food is OK and not observing the festivals, new moons and even the sabbath. You just refuse to see the plain black and white of scripture and over lay your own opinions on it.

I think it is safe to say that you are under a strong delusion.

Lao...the seal of God in the New Covenant is THE HOLY SPIRIT.

if you think you are sealed (or signified as in A CONTRACT to DO) THE OLD COVENANT, i have no idea what Bible you are reading.
Yes and the Holy Spirit will lead us into all truth and what is truth?
Psalm 119:142
Thy righteousness is an everlasting righteousness, and thy law is the truth.

scripture also says that we should do -whatever we do- to the glory of God...that would include 'plowing your fields and stuff'...

so if 'plowing your fields and stuff' can be done to the glory of God...then it is possible to 'plow your fields and stuff' to the glory of God on the sabbath...

and by doing that you would be working for God on the sabbath...and working under the priestly sabbath exemption...

You do not keep the law. How many articles of clothing in your house right now are cotton/polester blends?
You do not keep all 613 Mitzvot (laws), just the ones you agree with.
For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all.[h=1]James 2:10[/h]

the passover was one of the 'festivals' paul mentions in the exact same sentence as the sabbaths...paul lumps them all together as shadows...festivals and new moons and sabbaths and dietary laws...all shadows...

Yes Jesus is the truth so is the word of God and so is the Law of God as the text says. So if a person is sealed with the Holy Spirit then he will be led to obey God's Law.
Acts 5:32
Revelation 14:12 Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus.
