"Many are called, few are chosen" God can't say, 'all are called,' for that is A LIE
.....for that would be a lie. And, God can NOT lie !
This, theretofore, explains the 'many are called, but few are chosen' verse well. God wants every one to come to repentance, to not 'perish,' just as Peter states in his 2nd epistle, '...that none should perish.' But, God knows some will not choose Him, so to say that ALL will be called is wrong, because God KNOWS not to call those who are NOT going to choose Him. This latter sentence is VERY incredible. Very
God KNOWS who will choose Him, they ARE the called. Does this make sense
And, do not confuse this with God NOT trying for EVERYONE to choose Him. ALL can choose Him. He just knows who will and won't.
Don't 2nd guess God either, as Isaiah 55 states, No one knows His thoughts or WAYS (actions)," they are higher than ours and different than ours.
We think in human terms, He thinks in His terms
"For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,”
God is SOVEREIGN over all people and all things, over ALL. He knew you would be born before you were an embryo.
He knew you would be doing the exact thing you are doing before you did it, even though, TOO, He allows you to choose the very thing you are doing RIGHT THIS MINUTE !
God is all-knowing. God is all-powerful. God is "all and all," Scripture tells us.
Therefore, it would be a LIE by God, if He used the word 'ALL' for this Scripture. He can NOT say: "ALL are called, but few are chosen.'
NO !! ONLY 'many' are called, because God knows SOME are with hard hearts and will NEVER choose Him. Pharaoh is a PERFECT example. God HARDENED Pharaoh's already HARD heart.
You see, our hearts are HARD at our birth, we only receive a heart of flesh at our being reborn or, 'born again' to Him, having decided to choose Him, believe in Him, follow Him, through faith, because of His grace.
Back to God not never ever never ever lying..............
This saying of "All are called, but few are chosen" would be God telling a lie, for God knows NOT all are called because He knows SOME have HARD hearts in the first place and will NEVER EVER NEVER choose Him.
This is a tough thread to do, for I know it's going to receive SOME's gnashing of teeth. But, it must be said, I cannot tell............................
..................................a lie, or, let you, come to believe......................................................
a lie, or, let you THINK that God's calling of 'many' and not 'all' is for any other reason than thus just stated. That is the Truth.
Titus
1 Paul, a bond-servant of God and an apostle of Jesus Christ, for the faith of those chosen of God and the knowledge of the truth which is according to godliness, 2 in the hope of eternal life, which God, who cannot lie, promised long ages ago, 3 but at the proper time manifested, even His word, in the proclamation with which I was entrusted according to the commandment of God our Savior,…
But, God would be lying if He said that He did not want ALL to come to Him. He DOES want ALL to come to Him.
The big question that you should be asking yourself is not if you are one of the 'few' who are chosen, but IF you are one of the 'many' who are called.
Hint: YOU are called, IF you've been approached by Christ in some way of your life, not sure how, you know, He knows. And, you've accepted His call
Also, you should ask yourself IF this verse speaks The Truth to you:
"But do not let this one fact escape your notice, beloved, that with the Lord one day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years like one day. 9The Lord is not slow about His promise, as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing for any to perish but for all to come to repentance."
Now, some will confuse you, make you THINK that those coming to repentance are those who are ALREADY WITH CHRIST, they just need to confess some bad thing, some sin, some thing they did in the midst of their being a Christian. Au contraire. So not so.
Christ is SPEAKING to ALL men (and women), here is Christ, through the holy, inspired words of the apostle, Peter, telling us ALL that He wants NO ONE to perish. These words SPEAK of ALL people, He is speaking of those who have been called , who are part of the 'many,' but who have not yet decided to be CHOSEN by Him. Choose to believe on Him, you choose to be one of the 'few' who are chosen by Him to NOT perish after you DIE
The word 'few' is a real word, it's really in the bible. That's the Truth. BELIEVE on Him and you are one of the few who are chosen by Him for eternal life with Him, and, not eternal life in that place spoken of ALSO in Scripture --the FIRE!
