I would like to analyze these 'all' and 'things' and 'everything' keywords in these verses, one by one, as to come to an understanding of what (or 'who) is meant as 'all things,' (v. 16), in 'everything,' (v. 17) and, other verses in this set. Truly, I want to pray of how to put to rest the rumor, myth, DISPENSE the truth, of if YOU are a 'thing,' or, not. :)

v. 15 -- "all." To me, this means that God is over every, man, woman, child, creature living on Earth, right down to the microscopic plankton in the sea :D

v.16 -- 'all things.' Again, 'all things' refers to every thing (male, female included) in the world, and, heaven, even, too. :)

v. 17 -- 'all things' are held together by Him. Without Him, quite simply, they are molecules and atoms that fall apart :(

v.18 -- 'in everything' in Him all things were under, are under, including church, including, even, THE DEAD ! of whom Christ is already been 'firstborn,' or, raised FIRST by God, His Father, who is of Him. He is the beginning and the end of ALL THINGS :)

v. 19 -- God pleased with His Son who is fully dwelling in Him, in all fullness. He is in Him, what's more, He IS Him :)

v.20 -- 'all things' reconciled to Him through death of His Son and blood shed for who, or, what rather? ALL THINGS !
Cats and dogs too, green, You mean, my dog, Fido, is in heaven now? Yes :)

v. 21 The word 'you' in verse 21 is quite telling, it refers to all those keywords earlier, which speaks of who? ALL THINGS ! And , guess what, peeples? We are a 'thing' too, just like a rat is a thing and a baboon is a thing, WE are human things :)
So, alienated from God. His enemies. :( Sad, huh :( REally sad We ALL THINGS killed Christ, PUT HIM on that cross. Noooo selectivity. We aLL killed Christ, we all persecuted Him, we all deserve DEATH. :( But, yet while we , ALL HUMANS, ALL THINGS, were SINNERS, Christ died for us :)

Psssh, and, you thought there would NOT be a happy ending to this story, but, there is a glorious, joyous ending, isn't there, don't you just love it !! Or, I mean, ahem, don't you just Love Him, for what He did for you after all YOU did TO Him ??

You thing !!! :( But, you are a thing that God redeemed by His Son's shed blood, the Lamb's blood, on that cross. :)
Because why, green? Because, He loved you THING !!! Think on that a second, you human THING !!! :)

15 The Son is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. 16For in him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things have been created through him and for him. 17He is before all things, and in him all things hold together. 18And he is the head of the body, the church; he is the beginning and the firstborn from among the dead, so that in everything he might have the supremacy. 19For God was pleased to have all his fullness dwell in him, 20and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether things on earth or things in heaven, by making peace through his blood, shed on the cross. 21Once you were alienated from God and were enemies in your minds because of[SUP]g[/SUP] your evil behavior. 22But now he has reconciled you by Christ’s physical body through death to present you holy in his sight, without blemish and free from accusation— 23if you continue in your faith, established and firm, and do not move from the hope held out in the gospel. This is the gospel that you heard and that has been proclaimed to every creature under heaven, and of which I, Paul, have become a servant.

NO ONE is "saved" until the day that we die and then God determines whether we are worthy of being saved.
To answer your questions - NO - I'm NOT saved, neither are you, and neither is anyone else who happens to be alive at this time.

You are saved.

Or, have you left Him?

Your faith is in Him, no? You are saved :)

True, not only are we to have 'faith in Him,' as Philippians 3 states:

But whatever were gains to me I now consider loss for the sake of Christ. 8What is more, I consider everything a loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whose sake I have lost all things. I consider them garbage, that I may gain Christ 9and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which is through faith in[SUP]a[/SUP] Christ—the righteousness that comes from God on the basis of faith. 10I want to know Christ—yes, to know the power of his resurrection and participation in his sufferings, becoming like him in his death, 11and so, somehow, attaining to the resurrection from the dead.

But, we are ALSO to have hope in Him, our hope of living after dying is in His promises.

Do you believe His promises?

Good. Then, YOU are saved, and, not AFTER you die, but, RIGHT now :)

However, scripture says the opposite. Salvation is a present possession of all believers: “Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life. He does not come into judgment, but has passed from death to life.” (John 5:24)

Christ's shed blood covers only those who trust in Him. I believe the following defines “everyone”...
Heb 2:9 But we see him who for a little while was made lower than the angels, namely Jesus, crowned with glory and honor because of the suffering of death, so that by the grace of God he might taste death for everyone.
Heb 2:10 For it was fitting that he, for whom and by whom all things exist, in bringing many sons to glory, should make the founder of their salvation perfect through suffering.
Heb 2:11 For he who sanctifies and those who are sanctified all have one source. That is why he is not ashamed to call them brothers,

Colossians 1 .

"All" and "things" or "everyone" is always defined by a qualifier in the context. "All" doesn't always mean "every human being born" but could a particular group of people. Examples:

1. Mark 1:5, [SUP]5 [/SUP]Then all the land of Judea, and those from Jerusalem, went out to him and were all baptized by him in the Jordan River, confessing their sins. We know the pharisees were not baptized by John, they despised John. We know from John 1 the Jews sent out a party of priests and levites to ask John who he is. Thus those Jews who sent the delegation did not go to John [John 1:19,22]. So from this we know that "ALL" does not include the Jews (I think pharisees) that did the sending. I believe "ALL" means "all those who thought John the Baptist was a prophet, or man of God.

2. John 8:2,[SUP]2 [/SUP]Now early in the morning He came again into the temple, and all the people came to Him; and He sat down and taught them. Clearly John wasn't trying to communicate that all the people living at that time came to the one spot to hear Jesus speak! So John must be talking about all in that community or the majority came out, for sure the woman caught in adultery and her accomplice wasn't there to hear Jesus, the pharisees brought her in.

As far as the scripture you presented, the word "all" needs to interpreted to the context of the immediate passage and also to the rest of the bible. As verse 20 goes, I believe God did reconcile ALL things through Christ, but that doesn't mean all things will be reconciled. What I think it means is that God's offer of reconciliation went out to all things to receive it and not everyone wants to receive it. We both know the universe will be reconciled, which it already is but end result of Christ's work isn't fully manifested until His return. But as far as man goes, man has call on His name to be reconciled.

I do believe God is creator of all (all things) however, I don't believe he is Father of all. Some are of their father the devil. Yes, he will reconcile all things or restore all things that have been disturbed by sin. But, no, dogs and cats do not go to heaven. Neither to virus or bacteria.

Yes, His blood covers those who believe, but, He died for all, His shed blood is there for the TAKING for everyone on Earth, starryfields, only believe--with faith He's given you---in Him. :)

And, thank you for the smileys, milady. Keep on serving Him, use your gifts well, the many-many 'great' ones He's given you, for His glory, always, never giving time to The Enemy.

Many will say to me on that day, 'Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name and in your name drive out demons and in your name perform many miracles?'

I think it is dangerous to assume you are saved. Many will think they are saved but are not.
It is dangerous to assume you are not saved. Also, you insinuate the 'Many are called, few are chosen' verse in your answer here, that is a dead-wrong thing to do. EVERYONE CAN be SAVED. It's a choice we make, and, like Pharoah, some CHOOSe to have a hard heart and, in so doing, God brings on a wickedness to them, being used by God, for His good, like that person wouldn't believe, or, would believe, but, still NOT choose Him. Here's proper Scripture, 'Even the demons believe in God.'

But as far as man goes, man has call on His name to be reconciled.
"Everyone" and "all things" and "everything" refer to man, woman, child, creature, but, only human things are ALL given the choice to believe in Him and take on Him, believe on Him, have their life 'changed' as you well put it there, books, reiterating what starryfields said so spiritedly from His Spirit in her leading. I pray, for all of us, we have His Spirit leading EVERYTHING we choose to say on c.c.

The Lord leads :)

And to answer overcamebyHim, I believe, Scripture says different by virtue of the words that I've presented from Colossians 1 . "Everything has been created by God and, you can think different, just like you can think you are saved, or, different, but, that does not change what The Truth is telling you.

Ecclesiastes 3

[SUP]21 [/SUP]Who knoweth the spirit of man that goeth upward, and the spirit of the beast that goeth downward to the earth?

so the spirit of the beast goes downward to the earth, does that mean it's destroyed forever? Besides I believe animals will be in heaven, because heave is paradise restored. Maybe not our personal pets, but I really don't see any definitive scripture relating to it, which is to say that Ecc. 3:21 is unclear and can be interpreted differently.

But thanks for you reply and answer, I appreciate it.

Just so everyone understands.........

The question is not if you are saved once you are always saved.

The question is very simple: IS 'everyone' and 'everything' and 'all things' QUALIFIED, per Scripture, to be SAVED :)

Who CAN be saved ? That capitalized word just said, and, bold-faced for those 'capital-blind' :D , is key to everything :)

To answer your questions - NO - I'm NOT saved, neither are you, and neither is anyone else who happens to be alive at this time.
Wow!!!!! good for you and I am saying this as I did at age nine to those people at my door, when I answered, they said to me did I know that only 144,000 people are going to Heaven?
I answered with that is too bad, because I am 144,001, and shut the door. All things are possible with God who loves us all that whoever believes shall be saved and it is not by doing good works.
For how will anyone know when they have done enough or not? When no, not one is good no not one , except Christ justified in the Spirit, died in the flesh for us to consider us to be dead to flesh and alive in the resurrected Spirit of Christ , by Father who raised him from the dead

God has already determined that no man is worthy. Only Christ is worthy. You may affirm that you are not saved, although it's nothing to boast about, but I have received Christ and by the grace of God I am saved.
John 11:25 Jesus said unto her that I am the resurrection and the life. He that believeth on Me though he were dead yet shall he live.
You don't have to look far to find Gods truth in the scriptures. If you are not alive in Christ today you will not be alive after you are dead.

For the cause of Christ

Re: Does 'everything' mean 'everyone,' as far as WHO can be saved? Who IS saved? Are

Again, the thread topic is not about if you are saved or not. We all 'hope to obtain salvation,' this is the Truth, it's told us by Scripture, but, it's NOT the subject of this thread. Our HOPE is in Him, again, though, as I already said, JohnES or Dratdrett, should not think the "dangerous" is in saying they are not saved. The DANGEROUS is in thinking you ARE NOT SAVED.
What kind of HOPE do you have if you are NOT thinking you ARE saved, because as Notmychoice says, we are told in Scripture that when we believe on Him, we shall 'live.; And, this living is talking about ETERNAL LIFE living :) So, yes, SAVED :)

YOU ARE SAVED. Live like you ARE too, follow Him, the Lord leads, for He is the HOPE of your salvation that IS a free gift from Him, given because of your FAITH in Him. Continue to increase that faith :)

The question is: Who CAN be saved ? The answer is........ :)

Re: Does 'everything' mean 'everyone,' as far as WHO can be saved? Who IS saved? Are

It is available to all who will believe, and all will have made the conscious choice as the whether they believe or not. Therefore when the time comes, there will be no excuse. For the choice that each man has made is 100% aware of their final answer as to whether they believe or not believe
[h=3]John 16[/h]Authorized (King James) Version (AKJV)

16 These things have I spoken unto you, that ye should not be offended. [SUP]2 [/SUP]They shall put you out of the synagogues: yea, the time cometh, that whosoever killeth you will think that he doeth God service. [SUP]3 [/SUP]And these things will they do unto you, because they have not known the Father, nor me. [SUP]4 [/SUP]But these things have I told you, that when the time shall come, ye may remember that I told you of them. And these things I said not unto you at the beginning, because I was with you. [SUP]5 [/SUP]But now I go my way to him that sent me; and none of you asketh me, Whither goest thou? [SUP]6 [/SUP]But because I have said these things unto you, sorrow hath filled your heart. [SUP]7 [/SUP]Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you. [SUP]8 [/SUP]And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment: [SUP]9[/SUP]of sin, because they believe not on me; [SUP]10 [/SUP]of righteousness, because I go to my Father, and ye see me no more; [SUP]11 [/SUP]of judgment, because the prince of this world is judged.
