Thanks, but I don't have time to do your homework.
Then your argument that Uranium dating is based upon assumptions is, for now, not testable and without any presented evidence. If you present an argument, you must actually present it and elaborate on it in order for it to be tested or falsified, Elin. If you do not actually present the argument, the argument cannot be counter-argued.

I believe, regarding the context of this thread, that your questions are misframed. I believe, regarding the context of this thread, that if God did indeed create the Earth, that he created the laws that govern it, which can be studied, learned and testified to, daily, in mathematical experimentation concerning the matter and energy of our world.

I believe that to ask such questions as yours precludes only one answer to this thread: none of it matters because God could have made the Earth in whatever way it seems to look today.

However, that answer ignores many factors, not only the varying interpretations of Hebrew scripts pertaining to creation, interpretations which genuinely allow for the theories of evolution and the old Earth, but also ignores the complexity and testable nature of the scientific theories upon which the consensus of the Earth's age is based. It shows unrelenting bias towards one interpretation of a text written many years after Moses' death, but more than anything it shows an unwillingness to look at other valid theories for the sake of one you find easy to digest.
Thanks for that Esanta, sorry did i miss it or did you not actually answer my question?
You are right I am biased. I am biased towards the Word of God as accepted by Christians all over the world since before Christ, and dating back thousands of years. The Scriptures are what I and Christians in general base our understanding of God upon together with the revealing of the Holy Spirit, but you surely aren't suggesting picking and choosing which parts of Gods Word you to.
Of course God created the laws that govern his creation but we cannot scientifically test things that happened long ago so we must accept what God's Word tells us unless we can test otherwise.....that's what Christians do. I suppose using your "logic" science demonstrates that when you're dead, you're dead and surprisingly I disagree with that too.....honestly Esanta, I'm not trying to be funny and seem like a person who takes life seriously, don't close you're mind to The Lord...take a step of faith and ask Him to be your Lord.

my experience of working with young folk, especially in the student community is, that evolutionary theories are one, if not in fact the biggest, stumbling block to any serious acceptance of the Truth of Gods word.
You are the problem, not the solution.

The credibility of someone like you to “young folk, especially in the student community” is going to be highly suspect as soon as you start this YEC spiel. And rightly so, in my opinion.

The earth is 6000 years old, dinosaurs coexisted with humans, a global flood and ice age occurred within the past 4500 years, and on and on and on with the babble-on (Babylon).

You are unnecessarily pitting the Word of God against science.

Hi Jack, its not about you or I or our credibility you don't seem to realise this. This is about the credibility of Gods word in the eyes of those who are truly seeking for truth, not trying to look good for themselves and their own ego.
i suspect from your postings that you are not actually involved in much in he way of evangelism amongst people or you would have experienced the poison of evolution at work Jack and the stumbling block that it throws out to believing the bible as the truth.
what do you say to people when they say to you " how can you take the bible seriously when e first things tha are written in it have been "proven " to be just fables and myths."
what do you say to people when they say " there is no such thing as sin its just how were programmed by our genes and our environment?"
what do you say to people when they say why should we believe anything in the bible when it talks about miracles, supernatural events, and people rising from the dead....it's all just stories".
im very interested to hear how you address these common questions to name but a few, if you have decided not to believe he biblical account of creation.

Oh yeah, and by the way you're right. I am the problem I fully confess. But at least I recognise that and I am trying to grow to be more like Christ and to mature more in my faith by studying his inerrant Word and trusting what He has written down in His Word. Keep your focus on The Lord Jack not on human wisdom. That's why I came onto this site for fellowship with brothers and sisters in Christ and discussion of real life situations were we can learn from each other. Help m out Jack.

You clearly didn't even read the link I provided! You didn't even address anything I said. You responded to me as if I said something I didn't. You might as well be blind folded and respond to my arguments without seeing what I typed since you would be just as accurate with said responses!

I didn't assume. There's proof that you either don't understand what evolution is, or you're lying.

I know what creationism is and I understand the arguments it presents. If I'm wrong, correct me with science.

What is evolution? Calista, the word evolution actually just means “change.” Of course, we all know in our world today it usually means something else. When most people hear the word evolution today, they think of Charles Darwin. Darwin believed that one kind of animal evolved into a totally different kind and that eventually ape-like creatures evolved into human beings over millions of years.

This is totally against God’s Word, which clearly records that God created all living things according to their kinds (that dogs would only produce dogs, cats only produce cats, and so on). God’s Word also states that the first man was made from dust and the first woman from his side (they didn’t come from ape-like creatures)! There has never been any scientific evidence to show that one kind of animal (any animal) has ever turned into another totally different kind of animal! God’s Word is true!

And therein is the problem.

People are tossing around the word evolution on this thread without defining it. And saying things like evolution is the work of Satan. Ignorance at its best.

I can't believe you actually posted something without copying and pasting from Answers in Genesis.

Oh grow up Jack. I'm sorry but if you're goingto go down this road then clearly you are simply in this to pick holes in Christianity.....I take it that you are not a Christian then or if you do claim to know and trust The Lord as your saviour, upon what do you base your salvation. Is it your own private little interpretation of some ancient texts you've heard someone talking about, or perhaps voices in you're head. Do you know what it's like to be confronted with your sin and to realise that you are completely unworthy of Christ's sacrifice on te cross. Do you even believe tat there was a cross or is that just another of your allegorical metaphors. What do you really believe Jack... Who are you who is the real Jack aged 97. Come on Jack ....what is your real agenda for being on this thread.

And you theistic evolutionists are so bull-headed and don't seem to understand how much you have to compromise God's Word to read such a belief into the text.

Tintin, I think you'll find that Jack has his own text, one which the rest of the world haven't yet had access too......the guy is very confused. We need to pray for him.

I asked you one simple question and you went into an irrelevant rant.

You referred to the inerrant Word of God.

What, exactly, do you consider to be the inerrant Word of God?

You said a global flood occurred in 2348 BC. And dinosaurs roamed the earth after that. And the Ice Age was also after that.

You read such beliefs into the Word of God.

It seems to me you are adding to the Word of God what is not there.

And what you are adding is in conflict with reality.

Some atheists say the Bible is a fairy tale. I can see why, based upon what you and yours have to say on the subject.

You have a problem

All the things you just railed against are proof of all the things you think are billions of years old.

If the earth was different before the flood. All your science of things ocure the same today as they did back then (the basis for ALL your scientific THEORY) fall down the tubes and are flushed.

Just perusing the thread a bit. Since you are expressing skepticism, perhaps you won't mind me expressing some towards you. I have a hard time believing someone that is 97 years old is as fluent as you are on an internet forum. Would it hurt your feelings if I asked you to prove that? Perhaps a pic of your drivers license (surely you still drive) would help. :)

Don't feel lonely, I have that skepticism about more than you on here.

I concurr with Elin, on this. As you well know Jack this Canon is well established and is accepted as the Word of God my the vast majority of the Christian world. I have watched you trying to go down this road before but no surprise, you never seem to be able to produce any recognised valid text to back up your own assertions. Perhaps its the JackH Canon?

"It would be better for him to have a millstone tied around his neck and be cast into the sea, rather than that he should cause one of these little ones to stumble."

Genesis 2:2 hasn't happened yet, and won't happen until Jesus Christ returns to end the Tribulation and begin the Millenium.
In other words, we are STILL in the 6th Day of Creation, which has lasted for MANY millions of years.
To believe that the universe is ONLY 6,000 years old, is ignorant nonsense.
God created the universe and He can take as long as He likes to make it evolve.

BTW - Genesis 2:2 states - ... and on the 7th Day, God rested.
sorry, but that is just plain ridiculous

No, you gave an edited quote mine that fails to address the context of Darwin's intent, which is a gross misrepresentation of the context of the actual quote. That's both dishonest and willfully ignorant.
that's a bit harsh, especially coming from a 19-year-old.
