Well come on? Men can cry but when a man cries its for a real reason...not just because somebody didn't tell them how pretty their hair looks today.
I'm not going to say anything. I want to get married in the future and to do that, I'll need to find a woman.

It's fine for a man, boy, to cry. I've seen my Brother's cry, I saw my Father cry, I've seen my Husband and son cry. Crying can be therapeutic and healing. It's a release and sometimes it just happens, no reason to be ashamed.

I said it.

It's not about whether it's in your control or not. It's a matter of hurt. It HURTS to lose someone. It's painful when you're under a lot of stress. When someone breaks their leg, are they not supposed to cry, even though it hurts? Or what about third degree burns? If someone gets one of those, are they not supposed to cry over that?

Though they might be feeling physical pain, emotional pain is just as relevant and you feel it just as much. So don't go saying to someone because they can't control it don't cry about it. I don't have a clue as to why you're so cynical but I suggest that you take it elsewhere, because making someone, male or female, feel guilty because they cried is extremely rude.
Well #1 I am not trying to make someone feel guilty about anything. I am just saying what I think and believe. For me I see no logic in crying. As for death I have seen others pass, and I will see more people pass as I continue on though life till one day I to will pass. As for getting injured. again crying about it would not of changed getting hit by a car or falling off a roof breaking bones and such. So again it would be illogical to sit and cry over it. I just learn from what went wrong and move on.

You can hate me, think i am an evil monster, or whatever. I am just saying what I think.

Yes lil_christian but if you shut away the emotion you don't have to deal with the pain. And if you say real men don't cry you can justify shutting the emotion away. I know some men who have been hurt so much that they turn into just that - men who have made such thick walls around their hearts that they can't really feel anything except cynicism and sarcasm. It's really sad.

The last time I cried (that wasn't caused by a song) was when my cat died. I usually don't cry over pets, but this was different. She had been sleeping on the motor of a car and her lower body got caught in the fan belt when she tried to bail out. What got to me was how she was meowing in pain, and meowing directly at me, turning her head as best she could to look at me, because she wanted me to do something about it, because she always looked to me to take care of her... and I couldn't do anything for her. It just tore me up.

I dunno, maybe there's something to the whole walling your heart off thing. Pain sure ain't fun.
Ugh...that would have been awful. That almost makes me want to cry, but I cry easily over pets. I've cried more over pets than humans, minus my mom.

So, while we're on the topic.

When are acceptable times for a man to cry? Is it okay to let a single tear slip out during a movie, while reading a book, when eating a rare steak?

I don't think crying is unmanly for any man. It's just something that happens and it certainly doesn't affect anyone's identity as a man. I mean heck, if one of my bros was crying in front of me I'd support them. It would depend on how close of a friend I am with them, but I wouldn't mind hugging them if I knew they'd be ok with it. For me in general, I try to be as transparent as possible, so if I felt a cry coming on, I wouldn't try to hold it back.

I tear up when I am watching a very happy ending in a good movie. I teared up at the ending of The Pursuit of Happyness and Real Steel. There are times when I have teared up while listening to the bridge of Coldplay's Fix You. Sometimes I have teared up when I am really happy (like, when my ex made me a very beautiful card for my birthday).

I think it is okay to tear up. Hey, we are humans and we can express our emotions. I'd rather be alive like this than be stone-cold and dead. :)

But this is just my opinion.
